  1. Coose: If it were only that easy. My little X-flow doesnt need an autopsy yet, but I am saving my quid for the Zetec mods. I suppose they run well on synthetic oil.......but that is anothe thread tongue.gif Cheers! Michael X-flow equipt Yankee
  2. Is there any special preparation work that needs to be done for a switch from mineral to synthetic, or just change the oil and filter? X-flow equipt Yankee
  3. Roger: What sort of life should one expect from a well cared for SS rebuilt with forged pistons? X-flow equipt Yankee
  4. Yes Brent, the snow is gone. Spare time to retrieve my Seven from storage is sparse as well. Have emailed you the story. Cheers! Michael X-flow equipt Yankee
  5. Brent Chiswick has performed this very conversion, and I am sure would be happy to advise. I myself am planning to go Zetec, but must collect the funds. With a kit of JW and Raceline parts Brent's car looks the dog's danglies! Cheers!
  6. Brent: Do you know if the Peltor system is marketed here in the colonies? Cheers! Michael
  7. Who makes the Duratec if not Ford?
  8. Tim: It all depends.... What are your needs? The X-flow offers bags of character, and in a high state of tune is a great peformer, though it will be stressed, and shorter lived than the more modern zetec. The X-flow is classic and its bark warms your soul. The zetec with carbs, new cams, and 3D ignition offers more horsepower, lower maintainance, and at 200 hp is bomb proof. If you need to go the distance with little time for feddling, it may be the better choice. Either way will bring you miles of smiles! Michael X-flow equipt Yankee
  9. Where can this engine be found? Is it in any curent production vehicle to be examined? Does anyone know the performance figures for the engine shown by Minster? Cheers! Michael X-flow equipt Yankee
  10. I do believe the shims go behind the bearing, could someone please clarify this, as mine is still awaiting repair too. X-flow equipt Yankee
  11. How does the Duratec differ from the Zetec, asidefrom the exaust. I am not familiar with this engine. X-flow equipt Yankee
  12. I am not sure that Ford ever marketed the 1.8 Zetec here in the colonies. Most donor Zetecs come from the Ford Contour and are the 2 litre variant. X-flow equipt Yankee
  13. This sounds like one for Roger King. I'm stumped. Must be the first time a Seven has done somthing odd wink.gif Edited by - Michael Peterson on 24 Nov 2001 04:06:18
  14. You might also check the engine ground strap. If not a good connection this will ground through the clutch cable and cook it in short order! (This was on an x-flow though) X-flow equipt Yankee
  15. My 1600 X-flow runs 4 bar cold, or warmed up above 2500 rpm. Idle warm is 1 bar or so. I was considering a viscosity increase for warm weather (15-40 in use now), but if its good enough for Roger.....wink.gif Cheers! X-flow equipt Yankee
  16. That car of Brian's was a fine example. I saw it up for sale, but could not find the quidsad.gif
  17. My X-Flow seems to be quite happy on 100 octane low lead aviation petrol. Not cheap, but works a treat! thumbsup.gif X-flow equipt Yankee
  18. Chris: Best bet is to jack up the rear and CAREFULLY support the frame. Then you can pull, tug, twist, etc. until you duplicate the sound. Check that the exaust clears the axle should you have a rear exit system. Cheers! Michael
  19. Would that swallow have a better grip if the coconut was husked with YOKO's?
  20. Thanks Nigel. I tried W, but he doesn't know squat abou Se7ens. An obvious shortcoming, but we all can learn. Cheers!
  21. Neither Jan, It's a passion!
  22. Hello Mates! I had noticed a metalic clunk whent driving my 97 live ax Sprint over bumps, and assumed it was the often mentioned A-frame bush. Up we go onto the lift, and as so often happens when we assume.... the bush was fine. What I did find was that when pulled outward the left side wheel moves in and out about 5-7 mm producing the noted clunk. The right side wheel has no such movement. What has gone, and how is it fixed???? This is an ital live axle with only 13k miles on it. All help appreciated. Cheers from the Colonies! Michael X-flow equipt Yankee
  23. You need to speak to Brent Chiswick, who frequents this site. He has such a beast, and I know he has sourced parts (sump etc.) from Raceline. I have visited their humble shop and was impressed with parts we were shown. A friendly lot. Try them by phone or web. Cheers! Michael
  24. Clive How can you seal the catch tank? It would seem that the gases must exit. Another length of hose perhaps? Cheers! Exaust fumes? Oh, pardon me.blush.gif
  25. Thanks Phil. I will have to consider switching. 1600 X-flowsmile.gif Such a nice little banger!
