  1. At times there does seem to be quite a bit of exaust smell in the cockpit. Is this the norm for a rear exit system? Bothers the wife more than myself, but would make a good argument for upgrading (the car)tongue.gif Cheers!
  2. EB Why not consider the MX-5? Quickish, retro-fit turbo is from the Mazda parts bin (for more puff), it holds a bag or two(luggage), and still has the open air option. I have race a few with my X-flow Sprint, they might even make a good ashtraywink.gif
  3. Greetings All: I am considering rejetting my carbs to cope better with the fule here in the U.S. What are the standard jets in the 100 hp 1600cc X-flow Sprint? The Car is missingon light throttle, and stumbles on take-off. The plugs have little or no residue. Many thanks for any help! Cheers! Michael
  4. Brent: Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. wink.gif Another reason to go Zetec, and stop wasting all that quid on prozac. Cheers! Michael
  5. Paul: My 1600 X-flow behaves well on the open road, but does creep up a bit in traffic. We mere mortals have only spot experience with our own cars. I think some devine intervention is called for. Search out Roger King. He chimes in on X-flow questions quite often. X-flow equipt Yankee
  6. Thanks for the feed-back Tony. Good motoring!
  7. Jeff: As you may have noticed, the Zetec option sees little exposure in UK events. The K series and Vaux 16 valve units are far more common. James Whiting, and Raceline are two major parts/info suppliers. Check back through past threads for Zetec topics. Most will be heated debates over the merits of various engines, but there is good info too. In the U.S. the Z is really the best choice of modern engines, and upgrades from cross flow to Z are easy, if expensive. Best of luck. Cheers! Michael X-flow equipt Yankee
  8. Tony: Sorry I can't be of help with the oil pressure, but what is your impression of Dave Bean? Cheers! Michael X-flow equipt Yankee
  9. Mike: I have the Race Tech wheel, and Brian is spot-on with the mounting location for the button. My car passed three MOT's before I brought it across the pond. Failing this I could send you a bumper sticker which reads "Horn broken, watch for finger"tongue.gif Cheers! Edited by - Michael Peterson on 12 Jun 2001 09:48:21
  10. Greetings all, from across the pond: I do not know if halon types are avaiable in the U.S. or Canada, but will have a look around. Dry chem. types are the most common here. Could be a good holiday purchase. Cheers! X-flow equipt Yankee
  11. Many thanks for all the advice. I would hate to bugger up my baby with lousy fule. I think we will stay with proper leaded, unless touring long distance. Brent: Still looking for Zetec funds, its that four seater problem again......wink.gif Cheers!!!
  12. DOH!blush.gif You see what happens when when one does not spend enough time on Blat Chat! Since we do not have LRP here I will have to do my low flying from airport to airport. Cheers! Michael
  13. I have just been out for an evening blat in my Seven (1600 X-flow) during which I filled the tank. Out here in the 'Colonies' we are unable to get four star, consiquently the little beast gets a steady diet of 100 octane leaded aviation gasoline. This is fine when air fields are convinient, but for distance touring I will have to use some unleaded fule. What amount of unleaded is safe to use without harm to the valves? Are any of the lead substitutes worth considering, or are they just a waste of my quid?
  14. OH ECK! Is this going to start another K pride thread!
  15. Brent: My first impression? smile.gif Second impession. biggrin.gif Third impression. teeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gif!!!!! Love it! Cheers Brent!
  16. My Seven is back on the road thanks to a kind and creative cannibal in the Morgan club. It is nice to have friends out here on the fronteer. The cable from a right hand drive 4/4 with Ford gearbox is not identical, but will due in a pinch. Of interesting note is the reason the cable failed. The ground strap was not making good contact, and the car was pulling current through the clutch cable! Needless to say, it cooked the cable. Many thanks for the tech tips and encouragement. We will try to refrain from cannibalism in the furture.wink.gif Cheers! (urp!) Michael X-flow equipt Yankee
  17. Arnie: I am not near Surrey, but would be happy to make a donation to NTL in exchange for the cable. Please contact me off site and we can arrange the details. Many thanks for all the feed-back mouse friends! Cheers! Michael
  18. Well, I broke the cable. It snapped off on the end about an inch from gear box end....... I have ordered a new one from Caterham. Can the old one be, eer, "rigged", in any way for short term use? Any help would be appreciated!
  19. As a small aside from the "Colonies" Some large cities in the U.S. have yearly emissions inspection. The pass or failure is based on tail pipe readings of a stationary vehicle. They do not specify what it has to be running onwink.gif Dodgy, but effective.
  20. Even in America we are a bit reuctant to explain before the judge why are nuts have fallen offblush.gif
  21. For shipping to the U.S. try United Parcel Service. If John passes on the system I would be interested, and can supply a UK address. Cheers Michael
  22. Is the system a side exit or rear exit? 4 into one or 4 into 2 into one? Please elaborate Cheers!
  23. Hello Brent! The forcast for this weekend is into the 40's possibly 50's, and yes I will be out there! My shop is equipt with a hoist. I wanted to know for shipping as some freight services have a limit. That 5 speed box is no feather either! Cheers! Michael (still making engine noises in the garage)
