  1. After many trouble free miles and years my Zetec just shut down. A quick second gear blast in town, then on the brakes for a stop sign. The engine dies, I let the clutch out, it tries to restart, sputters then quits. Checking it at home the plugs are fouled. I replace them. I have spark. The fuel pump runs. The engine refuses to start. The engine is a 2.0l Raceline injected using GEMS management system and stock Ford sensors. My Mychron tach reads strange RPM's when cranking. Could it be a faulty crank sensor? Before I start throwing parts at it I would really appreciate some Blat Chat wisdom. Thanks for the help.
  2. Thanks Simon. You're not being rude. I have used My Mychron for a while and really just want to see how others are configuring their units. Others please feel free to comment or advise. Thank you
  3. I am configuring an AIM Mychron Plus dash. The engine is a 2.0l Zetec. I'm looking for advice for configuring ranges for the following: 1. Water Temp. 2. Oil Temp. 3. Oil Pressure The dash also has warning lights for the above values. Any advise on these? Thank you for the help.
  4. Are the harnesses in question a bespoke design for Caterhams? Is it possible to use a "formula car" harness set? Thanks for the advice
  5. Fester, I had the same problem with my new oil cooler. First try was with some very fine wet dry paper to remove any burs. Second try found what is called a "seco seal" which matches the profile of the male fitting. It's very thin metal which goes over the fitting and then when the fitting is tightened it should seal. It is made in alloy for alloy fittings or brass for of course brass fittings. They "almost" solved the problem. Just a very slight weeping. One would think a new part would be trouble free. Also interested in seeing additional comments on anaerobic sealer. Which one?
  6. Nigel. On slicks it's low enough that the added weight of the driver causes it to bottom. There is also just enough room for the car on the Thanks all for your responses. Keep the advice coming.
  7. Yes. I'm just pulling it up the ramp. I used to be able to push it up myself or sometimes with a little help. I've just had a hip replacement and think it's probably a better idea to now get some "mechanical help." So Farmer does that winch seem to be okay? Or should I go to the next size up? Thanks for the responses
  8. I have just purchased a manual winch for my trailer. It has an 1800 lb. rating. When reading the instructions there is mention of "maintaining a safety factor of at least 3 times the maximum load for all components used." Is this winch too light for my purpose? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  9. I seem to recall seeing someone having Carbon end caps for the typical dual oval installation. Any ideas where or if these can be found?

    Yoko A048 fitment

Thanks Mick, I've seen all of the positive comments on the Toyo's. The R888s have just arrived in the US and not in 13. It's hard enough finding the Yokos! Thanks again.
  11. I have a spare set of 6 inch rims. Can I fit a 205/60/13 for the rears? I have been told that 185 is recommended and that 205s are too wide. I'll be using them mostly for street but also some trackday duty when not on slicks. Any advice on compounds? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the quick reply. Any idea of the amp rating of the socket or perhaps the fuse size?
  13. Sorry to hijack this thread somewhat. Is it good practice to connect an input to a cigar socket which is fused and rated at 10 amps? That way I could also use it for a bullet cam, etc. when not using it for the Optimate. Any advice would be appreciated.
  14. Have you tried Raceline? I thought that they offered a dry sump option. Perhaps Caterham USA might also be an option as they have built a few Zetecs.
  15. Problem solved. Phil thanks for mentioning the cable. I looked at it and I had zip tied it nicely to my completed harness. Just with a little too much bend. Released it and now it's fine. Feel stupid for overlooking it but at least it was an easy fix.
