    J hose

I removed O-Ring and then it went on with a struggle. I ended up taking the 'stat housing off the car to fit the hose in the end.

Metallic Blue Caton, Nr Lancaster. Today 5 ish.
  7. I had a similar problem to this and eventually traced it to the spherical bearings in the lower wishbones. For a while, I just oiled them every few hundred miles and it made a massive difference. In then end I replaced them. They were very worn, but the wear is quite hard to detect when fitted to the car. Due to the camber the spherical bearing wears unevenly, and now with the experiance of this, you can 'feel' the roughnes of the bearing if you disconnect the trackrod and rotate the hub assy from lock to lock. 8. Spotted blatting down towards the M55 Nice morning for it
  9. Shouldn't the bolts be refitted with threadlock to stop 'em vibrating loose?
  10. Yep - thats the site I used!
  11. Yes - Fixed it yesterday Fitted a new battery. Cranking speed seems to be the same, but it now fires instantly with no 'help'.... FWIW the conditioner reported the battery as healthy, but it couldn't crank the engine for long before it started to slow, so I expect it's caput. I found a site with information how to test the various sensors - its on my work PC - Blat mail me if you want a link and I'll look it up on Monday.

    Fastenings

Chris, I tried this when I rebuilt the backend. Most of my local factors couldn't source some of the items required (unless I bought a box of 200). IIRC the top shocker mounting allen bolt was hard to find. Think most bolts are high grade UNF and don't seem to be stocked by most engineering suppliers due to lack of demand. In the end I bought the fixing kits from CC. I will probably have the part list in the shed somewhere if you want a copy of it.
  13. Cheers Regin Thanks for your help. I'll drop you a blatmail if I get stuck Tim
  14. Cheers Both I have a VAG-COM cable for my A4 (The Golf is SWMBO's) assume this is a same? I'll have a rummage around the garage and see if I can find it. I don't have the software. I'll have a google.
  15. Our 02 Golf TDI 130PD has got a problem! On hard acceleration, 95% of the power is lost as the engine approaches 3500 rpm. At this point the car has no power at all and struggles to maintain 70mph up hill on the motorway. Stopping the car, turning the ignition off and restarting cures the problem. So me thinks the ECU is going into "limp home" mode? Any clues on what to check, or is it time to plug the diagnostic in? I'm thinking a dodgy sensor that isn't liking being put under heavy load...

    Windscreen Frame

Cheers Nifty Yes - I just need the bottom member of the ally frame - the bit between the bottom of the glass and the scuttle. Let me know what the outcome is
  17. Anyone got a old windscreen frame lying around for an S3 standard chassis? Actually only need the bottom part as the powder coating people have "lost" mine 😔

    Glass Polishing

Cheers Steve Yeah - "chips" is probably the wrong word, these are tiny marks less than half a mm in dia Paul - I did think of accidentally dropping it (and nearly did trying to get the frame off) 😬

    Glass Polishing

Cheers Mav's Bro I'll just clean it and put it back in

    Glass Polishing

Cheers Mav Nothing wrong with it as such, just loads of v.v.small pits from 45k miles of stone chips. Not a problem really just thought whilst its out I have the opportunity to tart it up

    Glass Polishing

Anyone any experiance of this from Frost's? Currently got the screen out of the frame and was wondering if it was worth trying to get some of the tiny stone chips out with this before I put it all back together?
  22. Don't remind me......Oh 🙆🏻 you have Main stealer price just shy of £800 in 2007 Edited to say main stealer also forgot to re-tighten one of the engine mountings. Making for interesting clunk on roundabouts as the v6 tried to move out of the engine bay. Tried to charge me another 400 hard earned for a new steering rack. 😔 Fixed myself with 19mm spanner...
