Thanks for the response. I have now rerouted the cable along the outside of the diagonal (away from the direct heat from the exhaust). Haven't had a chance to try it yet - too much rain

I saw what looked like quite a useful tool in Maplin today. A digital multimeter with a tachometer function. Looking at the instructions it said to connect the meter to the battery (-ve) and the LT connection on the coil. However I have a dizziless system with a wasted spark coil so I was wondering if it would still be possible to use this by connecting to the ECU output to the coil? (thought it might be useful to have a digital read out when trying to set up the carbs). Any ideas?
It also had a temperature input and was only £9.99. here

What is the best way to route the crankshaft sensor cable? Mine currently goes along the cam cover with the HT leads ( under the 16V insert). Thought about moving it away from the HT leads and putting it along the diagonal but it may be a bit close to the exhaust primaries.
Does it matter if it is next to the HT leads?

I have found Decosol Vinyl & Leather cleaner very good on the hood, boot cover and tonneau. Not abrasive and if left on for a few mins seems to get all of the dirt out of the texture.
I am running 16" wheels with Yoko Parada Spec 2 tyres on the front. The car always looks like it has 'lots' of negative camber, but when measured it appears to be 2-3 deg (measurement method is quite crude) and the distance between the centre of the ball joint and the nut is 50mm which according to a search on BC also indicates approx 2deg.
Will try to borrow 'proper' gauge and do a more accurate measurement.

Paul,
Does the 912 give 3D mapping if fitted with a throttle pot? I currently have a MBE 906VVV on a dizziless VX2.0 on twin 45s. Would this be a worthwhile upgrade from the 906?
Would the 906VVV loom fit the 912?
Possibly interested if it would give 3D ignition mapping.

It is M16 x 1 Fine. Or at least it was on my wishbones (circa 1996 vintage). Had to clean up the threads after having the wishbones powder coated. Managed to borrow a suitable tap from a friend who works in a machining shop.
Have recently enlarged my exhaust exit hole 😳 in the side skin and just used a good (read sharp) half round file.
One tip I learn't from somebody else is to only file when pushing into the the hole from the outside and not when pulling the file back. This way will make sure that the paint doesn't chip. I also put two layers masking tape in the area of the hole first and marked out the area to be removed.
What width tyres should I be looking at for a VX HPC with standard 175bhp.
I currently have the standard issue 16" diameter which I think are 7" wide. I am thinking of changing to 13" but wonder whether I can go for 13x6 all round or need to go for a wider wheel (& tyre) for the rear.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Tim

Looks like I have started something here! How do all the Vx cars keep going if nobody has a manual !?
Steve, many thanks for your offer , I have emailed you off-line on your email address on your website.
Cheers

What is the best workshop manual for the VX 2.0 XE?
Haynes do one for Astra and one for Calibra that appear to cover the 16v engine. What do other people use?

Anybody any idea what the output from a DTA unit is for the rev counter? Is it pulses?
It is an older DTA unit (4/PV/1/S?) running V22.1 software. The engine runs fine (BDA on TBs) but the rev counter on the Stack (ST400) refuses to work.
Somebody has suggested that it needs a resistor fitting, but not sure what value or how it should be connected.
Any help much appreciated.
