Have a look at it yourself. Doubt if removing a timing belt cover would involve any fluid hoses. -
Have you bent the little steering arm ? Look at the gap between track rod end and disc each side of the car. Is it the same ?

You can buy plastic one way valves dirt cheap on line, or at your local car spares shop. There is nothing magical about it being for a Caterham !

Is the pump mounted below top of liquid level in the reservoir ? Saw a car recently where the pump had been retrofitted above the reservoir. The pump was spinning ok, but can't pump air. The answer was a one way valve to ensure the pump is always primed.

Do ensure that any ride heights are measured with the equivalent of driver (and passenger if carried) weights in the car. 85mm under the sump is pretty luxurious for a k-series.

I fitted Protech one way adjustable dampers and new springs from ProComp Motorsport to my SV. They revalved the dampers to suit the 7. Front springs 300lb rears 185lb linear. Considerably cheaper than other options

What mileage on engine ? When was the oil last changed ? Any other symptoms ?

Removed ours after years of soakings on European tours, and staying wet for days as it was trapped under the seats. Much better without.

I have carpet on the tunnel sides. Removed it from floor and replaced foot well area with 6mm fine ribbed rubber matting bought by the metre on eBay

And beware the corrosion inside the headlight stay tube if an older car. I had to get a tiny round wire brush to push through the bore to make it smooth enough to feed the cables through after a fight removing them.

If you determine the thread, just buy a magnetic sump plug anywhere on line. Nothing magical about it being in a Caterham
