  1. Yellow, one up, heading into Exmouth along the Exeter Road right past my house. 11.40am Sunday morning. Was it you? Didn't recognise the car or you, are you local? Registration as much as I thought I could see P17 RSS could be wrong on the letters. Nice day for it
  2. Thanks for the good response. Paul I'd be interested to see your end result. Any chance of a pic when you have completed it please? Likewise daytime vision obscures the near side wheel as well as my night time issue Lengthening it looks the easier way to go, although I think lowering would achieve a better aesthetic look for me. I'll await your photo Paul!
  3. Has anybody ( for those with Aeroscreen) shortened or lengthened the centre mirror stem? Of course. I could remove it completely - I have side mirrors. However I would like to have a centre Mirror. Mine is in my direct eye-line and causes all sorts of issues for night driving. Question: Is there shorter or longer stem available in the market place? If so can you point me in the direction of a supplier please? Or Have you cut one down, if so, any issues, any tips? Or Have you extended one, if so ..... Ditto above
  4. I am ashamed to say, I have no idea what diff I have. Car is a 2007 K series 1.6 Roadsport. However in the two years I've owned it, the "clonking" had been in existence on overrun and acceleration. And it's noisy! I too have put it down to the nature of the car. Bloody annoying! But part if the experience of a Caterham. On occasions I can quieten it down by very controlled, precisely timed and managed gear changes with very careful (smooth) acceleration ....... But why would I want to do that all the time, I just drive it progressively and let the noise carry on annoying me! Apology for not being much help to the original post, but I am guessing this is a characteristic of the Caterham 7?
  5. Advanced apology for bringing O/T to a Lotus7 forum! I am NOT An expert so please attempt to understand my layman's language. Circumstance: House 1952. Gas central heating. I understand "gravity fed" . Recent remove old radiators and have new. Replaced working but noisy underfloor pump, existing pump which has been in 20 years. Had a new wall thermostat and digital clock fitted about 6 months ago Also had a new towel rail fitted to replace radiator - using existing pipe work System all worked OK. With the timer you had to have the hot water on to have central heating working. You could have hot water only on but not central heating only on. Have had all radiators replaced for new ones, and a new C/H pump, system flushed and inhibitor added. that's all. Here is the bizarre! Today, with the hot water only to come on timer - the towel rail heated up and upstairs ONLY the pipes around the base of the radiators were warm! Test carried out, did override on hot water to prove to myself what I'd just experienced. Then I turned up the thermostat in the hall and all the upstairs rads came on, with the Towell rail and downstairs rads remained cold. ( bearing in mind the central heating according to the timer was off) Contacted company, they will come back and take a look , but insisted they only replaced rads and a Pump , which is true . Trying to arm myself with some knowledge from the POBC , any thoughts as to what the issues are please? Installer tells me Towell rail should come on with hot water, but when it was just a rad it did not! In the cylinder cupboard there are an array of pipes! There are no electrically operated splitters or diverters. I THINK it is only a one pipe gravity fed system. Please, sensible replies only Edited by - Sbd762 on 22 May 2014 13:42:10
  6. Gregs, I can't offer much in way of a solution. All I can say is percevere with them. I have an S3 and installed genuine B6 tillets on a standard floor. It was an absolute sod! The tillets are not flexible and the cockpit is less flexible! It resulted in scratched paintwork, cut and grazed fingers and frustration all round. It is a question of "tilting" front to back or vice versa, to lower into cockpit. Trial and error. One thing I did was to install the seats in the foremost forward position. And them position them , but that is easy said and requires some brute force! Sorry mate! Keep at it. Finally the end result was superb and worth the few scrapes of paint to get (for me) the best seating possible. Steve
  7. All a bit of a blur. There were seven 7's and 1 Yellow Elise (he's a Caterham owner!!) going in one direction and you in the opposite. Black 7, two up, you waved, was is it you Andy W? Thanks to ask those from Devon, Somerset and Dorset who turned up for a great day out.
  8. Thanks Paul. I thought that would be the case Steve
  9. It seems to me that lately many more ARs are posting up news about their area Blats and meets etc. Which is good news all round! Would it be worth considering having a topic title dedicated to area news and AR postings to their members instead of getting diluted in the chit chat topic area. Chit chat gets filled up quickly, in my view it would be good to have such as area section without having to trawl through chit chat where items quickly disappear off the screen. Am aware their is to be a new website soon. Just a thought
  10. No SM25T , no isolator switch, it's direct off the battery. Another suggestion has been given, it may be the fuse has gone between socket and battery Or something within the wiring connections or the socket itself. I still feel the charger must be OK, So another suggestion has been to try the charger in another car. Keep the suggestions coming please.
  11. I need to look at this in daylight. It's pitch black in a garage with only a torch! But I'm meantime any advice please.. I went to use my charger (CTEK MXS 5.0) I used it a few months back and it was fine. It is approx 12 months old.. I have a socket in the dash. Plugged in , switched on , power light came on on charger. Set the mode but the charging mode lights did not come on (no error lights came on). Usually the No. 1 light comes on within a minute followed by lights 2 and 3 until it settles on light 5 until full charge. Can you tell me, is it charging? Is it broken? has anyone experienced this with their CTEK? My last thought is the socket itself, hence I can't see much tonight, hence the need for daylight. but any info in the mean anytime would be helpful. Cheers Steve
  12. I have never known anything other than an aero. Never had a screen, so never had a desire to fit a screen. It seems most that ask Screen or Aero are those that have only had a screen and I think fearful of Aero screens because of the scaremongering that goes with Aeros. Of course it's all about personal choice - and so it should be. But as one who prefers the look of a Caterham 7 without a screen I am a committed Aero fan. The "thrill" of an Aero is very satisfying in all weathers. Go for it!

    Heater vent

I see what Ian W is saying about the 'ears' however (and I've yet to look at mine) my vents swivel very easy and therefore It's directional. So they can be pointed towards the floor.. Or am I missing a point here?
  15. Sunday 22 September 6 minutes past 5 coming from M5 junction 30 going towards Middlemoor Exeter. Between Sowton park & ride and exeter fire station. You were two up in a yellow and Ally 7 with clams I was in my Audi tin top and flashed you!
  16. Apologise if this has been up before. I did try a search but didn't find what I was looking for. Does anybody know how long the stuff in an aerosol can lasts? I have a can of Wynn's Tyre Fix. Says nothing on the can. There is a 15/7 marked which I could assume is July 2015? Does anyone have a definitive answer please? The can I have was in the car when I bought it, but no idea of original purchase date. I am wondering if I should just buy a new can every year. Needless to say I do not carry a spare!

  21. Surprised nobody has asked what Caterham you have. I have a 1.6K series (2007) My bonnet "rattled" until I made some investigation. It was being hit by the plenin chamber, (The black "plastic" type, so I simply put some 3 or 4mm self adhesive EPDM (Rubber) tape along the top edge of the it and it cured it. I would suggest (as somebody else has) that you increase the width of the tape between nosecone and bonnet to something like 25mm,I did, and it did help Personally I would NOT want to bend my bonnet into shape!
