  1. Thanks for the helpful suggestions, I will proceed once the temperature in the garage has dropped to a comfortable level 😬
  2. The rubber rings, between the instrument bezels and dasboard, of my Seven need replacing. Can anyone point me to a source either of made-up square-section rings or of lengths of "cord" for making such rings? I tried a set of round-section O- rings from B&Q but they have perished very quickly and are clearly of the wrong material. CC do not have the two sizes in stock - and theirs are very expensive ☹️
  3. And, if your Garmin is anything like mine, remember that it will not charge the internal battery while switched on. Also, don't forget to disable the speed camera warning function before driving in France ☹️
  4. If removing with Apollo fitted, remember to just crack the main oil pipe joints so that the Apollo can be moved out of the way without removing anything.
  5. Or, you could ask Andy at PGM - he produced an aerosol can of Caterham Green, made up locally, for me last year
  6. Thank you, I will investigate using the length of 2"x2" wood method to depress the pedal while watching the fluid level. Has anyone any experience of using a kit to rebuild a master cylinder?
  7. Advice please. Engine is a 1.8 K with an hydraulic clutch operated by a master cylinder and an external slave actuator engaging with the clutch operating arm. When all is properly adjusted and system bled, gears can be easily engaged. If, when in gear, the clutch is held in the operated position (pedal down) the clutch, after a few seconds, begins to drag, eventually stalling the engine. It is then not possible to change gears. After waiting a bit, normal service is resumed. Is this a master cylinder or a slave cylinder fault?

    O-rings wanted

Three, if I only replace the small 50mm instrument rings. I have found a source of O-ring "cord". I wonder if my "normal" super-glue would stick properly; the recommended variety is fiendishly expensive

    O-rings wanted

Yes, I did think of that 😬 However, that size of ring does not appear to be listed as an SV part - which is what I was looking for. I am sure that one could get them cheaper elsewhere but it's only pennies.

    O-rings wanted

Can the POBC tell me the specification and suggest a possible source of the O-rings used to fit between the dashboard and the 2" instruments of a Seven? Mine have deteriorated with age (I know the feeling ☹️)
  11. We had a similar experience with diagnostic codes, but the behaviour was worse. The management light would come on and the engine would lose power, sometimes during an overtaking attempt If the engine was stopped, then started again, all was well. The faulty component was the accelerator pedal which was easily fixed in 5 minutes.
  12. Magister, what are the symptoms? Do you have an "electronic" throttle pedal? A family Focus, same spec, was cured simply with a replacement pedal sourced from Amazon.
  13. If BMEP is, as suggested in the article, a theoretical concept, how is it measured? Many years ago I flew from Southend (yes, really) to Kuala Lumpur in a DC6. We did stop on the way 😬 When visiting the flight deck I noted that the Engineer's panel had a "BMEP" gauge which was displaying readings from all four engines. What was it measuring and how?
  14. More pedantry - it's "Coanda" 😬 See http://www.av8n.com/how/htm/spins.html#sec-coanda and even Wikipedia "Coanda Effect" Are you thinking of a "blown exhaust" for the Seven 🤔 Edited by - November7 on 13 Nov 2012 09:19:21
  15. That was probably us, returning from a day at the seaside with grandchildren. The day ended with a series of "rides" (blats) for the kids in the 7. There were some motorcyclists on the A272 who were somewhat surprised by the 7's acceleration and cornering ablities 😬
