    I suspect that the ignition feature has no effect. As for the pulley - therefore speed, it is quite likely that the rotational ability of a diesel alternator will not be as great as that of a gasoline derivative. Believe me with cost a constant issue this may well be the case. Steve B

  5. Thank you for the thoughts gentlemen. I can attest to my stupidity with the cleaning - with polished INSIDE of the exhaust outlet. Don't know Mark to be truthful. I feel the call of the 993 2S far away and it's getting stronger. My son has just sold a 993 because didn't like it *confused* Further to the cbsessive behaiviour I used to polish inside the wheelarches of my 3.2. How sad is that 🤔 Anyway, this isn't getting my car sold is it 🤔 There must be someone out there who needs a beautiful Se7en. Steve B

Unless they have changed for the SV; there should be two more quarter turn fasteners under the nosecone with the wire clips being fitted teh fibreglass There are two flat plates welded to the front cross tube where the fasteners are located. As for the wipers - your guess is a good as anyone's Mine have a mind of their own, although I have to say, do operate on an intermittent cycle at some combination of switch flicking ❗ Steve B
  8. Without sounding presumptious, the extra mile is very often worth it . You will not find better I guarantee it. I remember travelling to the other end of the country once to buy a Ducati SP5 - glad I did. When spending that sort of money for a rarity it does pay to travel. Steve B

    There is NO need to renew the cap for performing its intended function *confused* . Excess pressure venting is how it maintains system performance. Steve B

Forgive me, but I have no idea what the ID of the crank palm is, but why not just turn up a phosphor bronze bush and press it into the crank 🤔 🤔 🤔 This of course may be as a sleeve for the needle brg, or as a bearing in its own right. Drill the crank on a drill press *eek* *eek* are you nuts 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔. The name of the game is CONCENTRICITY and ACCURACY. Steve B

  18. JR you are not paying attention *mad* I specifically said NON SELF ADJUSTING and without fitting a pedal stop you can achieve non of the schemes. Just for info, my wife's Polo has just such a set up. Yes one has to carry out some maintenance occasionally. There is of course the option of an hydraulic set up - if some enterprising person is willing. Steve B
  19. Sorry to disagree Rob, but it would be far simpler to set the clutch pedal with a positive stop and adjust the cable to pre-load the release bearing. Obviously this is NOT self adjusting, but obviates springs and screwed stops at the transmission. Steve B
  20. Eric is quite right. You will have a devil of a job to fill such a thin panel with out sinkage or a witness mark around the hole. However, just for reference, if you do decide to fill; chamfer the hole as much as you can and use hi-build primer as a base. Steve B
  21. Two points ☹️ 1) WHICH not WHAT. 2) I don't know who told you that the blade was 30 - 40 bhp down, but without being specific he was talking 🙆🏻. Steve B
  22. If I may make some observations. The preload should read 80 > 120 N (not Nm which is torque). This is an appropriate load. The release bearing is designed to run constanly, as are just about every other manufacturers applications. Wear to the diaphragm fingers and bearing face is eliminated by NOT having to constantly accelerate the race to match crank speed. Hence constant contact. There is of course the consideration with hydraulic applications which self adjust by means of said preload. Lastly, clutch housing temperatures can, and do, get up to 150 Celsius so maybe 120 is a little conservative. Steve B

  24. The simple reason for changing oil at a pre-determined period after build is to clear any manufacturing and initilal running debris out before the unit is used in anger. A dying action, now that manufacturers build 'cleaner' engines, with better oils. Steve B

    Steve, you took the words out of my mouth. Let's face it the fuel and air get mixed in the inlet tract / combustion chamber, so what happens in the air intake is pretty much academic. Steve B
