    12v power socket

I got a plug, socket and in-line fuse from www.carbuildersolutions.co.uk and fitted the socket to the windsreen wiper motor bracket to the left under the dash on the passenger side. I also put a similar socket next to battery for connecting the battery conditioner. Steve D Lotus 7 S2 1500 Cosworth

  3. The rear wings on my 1967 Series 2 are about 9-1/2in wide. They have been on the car since 1970 when I bought it and don't look too bad after over 40 years; there are some surface cracks and I'm thinking of having all the fibreglass "refreshed" sometime this year. That's after I have finished rebushing and tidying up the front suspension which I took off the car this morning. Steve D Lotus 7 S2 1500 Cosworth
  4. Can anyone recommend an electroplating outfit in the Camberley / Farnborough (Hants) area. There are a number in the yellow pages etc but any personal knowledge would be much appreciated. Steve. Steve D Lotus 7 S2 1500 Cosworth
  5. Many thanks for the info. I will take the carbs. to Southern Carbs for a tidy up. Steve D Lotus 7 S2 1500 Cosworth
  6. Roger, Thanks for the advice, I have used the service kits in the past but I think this time, some of the drillings/passageways in the bodies of the carbs have become "gunged up". I don't have access to a high pressure air line or cleaning fluids or the experience to clean up these drillings etc. Hence the request for specialist advice. Steve D Lotus Seven Series 2
  7. I am looking for someone in the NW Surrey/NE Hants area to service my Weber DCOE40 carbs. Any recommendations gratefully received. Steve D Lotus 7 Series 2

    Help Webbers

I had the same problem on my Series 2 a couple of weeks ago and it was caused by the filters in the DCOE 40s being clogged up with with very fine sandy silt. I had previously changed the fuel pump to an SU and the filter on that also needed cleaning; to make doubly sure I also took the petrol tank out and gave that a good "rinse". Problem solved. 10. Paul, I have just replaced the rear shock absorber locating brackets and U bolts on my 1967 Series 2 Seven with a Standard 10 axle. If your set up is the same as mine and you just want to remove the spring/damper unit you will need to compress the coil springs before you can remove the unit because at full travel the unit/axle hits the chassis tube. I unbolted the U bolts, disconnected the handbrake cable and then removed the whole lot, bracket and spring/damper unit, and then separated them on the bench. I replaced all the nuts & bolts and can recommend AHC in Camberley who have most Imperial sizes in stock. I kept my existing springs and Spax adjustables ( last replaced in 1973) as they still seem fine. I hope all goes well with your planned work; there are not too many Series 2s left. If I can be of any help please let me know. Steve D Lotus Super Seven Series 2 - Green, Yellow & Ali.
  11. Thanks for the replies, the Halford's spring compressor is made by Laser Tools and is too big to fit between the spring coils, as are the Draper models. Charles has hit the nail on the head and his and Jackb's suggestion of a motor bike spring compressor sounds the way forward. Steve
  12. Can anyone recommend a coil spring compressor that fits the small spacing of the spring coils and the closeness of the shock absorber? Any advice will be much appreciated. Steve D Series 2 1500 Cosworth
