  1. Just noticed that Halfords have 'extended' their range of headlight bulbs. They now do Ulta Brilliant 120% £30 I have used the Extreme Brilliant 90% £25 that work well. Anyone used the new Ultra bulbs Are the worth the extra £5 But Halfords are doing BOGOF 😬 Richard
  2. Hello Philip, I just about know which end of the spanner to hold but have no experience of fitting a diff Not doing anything on Sat. If you want a pair of 'willing hands' to help I am close by in Doddinghurst. Mobile.07792062555 Richard
  3. I will have to pass due to the distance involved etc.... Have sent blatmail with apology... Richard
  4. Hi - Just what I am looking for. Sending blat mail Richard
  5. Rember that it needs to come from a Long Cockpit L/A Richard
  6. I agree with Bri. A replacement 7" headlight is from a BL Mini or Landrover If it's a sealed beam 'with a glow worm inside' then I have a pair in the loft. Send me a Blat mail. I'm in Brentwood Essex if you want them but it's probably not worth the petrol to pick them up unless you'r passing Richard
  7. Strongy, I have the Aldon in my X/F. It's been in the car for about 3-4 years No points to worry about and a simple swap. Once in you never need to adjust the timing / points again. Think it was about £60 From Burtons Richard
  8. Hi Ammo, Yes please - Mine has a slight leak. Will Blat mail you with details etc. Should be able to arrange collection. Richard. 😬
  9. Hi Eric, My supersprint (1988 vintage) was built by Vulcan Engineering 234 cam that pulls well at low rev's but starts to come on strong at 3,000. This is their website http://www.vulcanengines.com/ If you scroll half way down the 'brochure' page they have some graphs that show the power output of thier engines. Supersprint is the 135 / 145 bhp. By the way - my engine is 'tired' having never been touched and the valve springs have now soffened such that it won't rev over 6,000 but still managed 110 bhp. at a recent rolling road session. Not bad for a 22 year old engine. Go for the 234 you won't regret it. Richard
  10. The 'long' cockpit bar will not fit. I know as I tried the 'short' on my car (early DD). The reason the bar projectes forward is due to the feet of the 'hop' needing to fit on the suspension turrets that are approx 10cm to the rear compared to the Short cockpit. Hope this makes sense Richard
  11. Hi Roger, This sounds like it would be ideal for my father. He has an old PC thats out of the stone age. I'll blatmail you with my details. Richard
  12. Hi Tom You might consider a 'tune up' at the Two Steve's. (do a quick search or someone might do a linky for me). They are a rolling road tuner. Not far. M25 Dartford Crossing. Turn left onto A13. First junction off. Right at rounderbout over the A13 and about 500 m on the left. Small place but recomended by all how have used them. Richard
  13. Hi Klaus I have an 'early' DD x/f 1988 vintage. Here's my view. The top of the FIA bar projects forward compared to the location of the base feet. (If you see what I mean). This would be as for a long cock-pit. My understanding was that all DDs are long cock-pit The early DDs have the top of the suspension mounts protruding through the suspention turrets. It's difficult to see from the pic's as they appear to be covered by the boot cover. An early DD does not have 'movable' pedals Thats is the latter ones have 3 positions to help longer legged drivers. However I am confident that this would fit someone upto 6 foot tall and maybe 6' '2" (I am 5'8" and have the seat forward about 3-4 inches.) Richard Edited by - Richard K on 5 Mar 2010 13:08:23
  14. Thanks for the idea Charlie, It will need to be small as the diamiter is only about 4mm Or I could try a BIG MAGNET and hope it has enough 'pull' to get the obstruction out Richard
  15. Slight 'hi jack'. The quill on my speedo drive broke and when I came to fit the replacement part from CC it protrudes out further by about 2-3mm. This is enough to prevent the angle drive being located correctly in position. How can I get the remaining ‘part’ of the quill out from the gearbox location. I don’t want to go to the hassle of removing engine and gear box. Could I get away with ‘nipping’ 2-3mm off the end of the quill? Anyone with experience of this Richard
  16. As Nick say's - and all DD's are long cockpit. The thing to consider is do you have an 'early' or 'later' type. Early are the same as LA cars for FIA roll bar. Richard
  17. So you finally did it ! The brooklands will look great with the clams. I must confess to puting the screen back on in the winter but aero for 8 moths of the year. Richard (Hope to meet up at Stoneleigh !)
  18. Simon - If James does not want them, I would be interested if they will fit my 1989 DeDion car. I think from looking at your 'Webshots' page the rear shocks on the BEC are the same type as mine. As I was about to replace the rear bushes and an 'up grade' to adjustable at the same time would be good. Either reply on here or send me a blat-mail. I understand that James would have 'first dibs'. Richard
  19. Pete, I missed your earlier posts. The mile counter has stoped on mine but the spedo still reads. As a 'precaution' I have disconnected the cable. Can you please post the contact details for John at VDO. PS How are you and Midnight keeping. Richard Red Ali X/flow
  20. Simon, I have a spare bonnet for a X/flow sitting in my garage. I'ts Red and does not have any clips but your welcome to borrow it until you get your painted. PS It's not A1 (best described as 'seconds') having a bit of flaking paint and been stuck at the back of the garage for 5 years. Let me know. Richard
  21. The hole in the transmission tunnel on my car ( 5 speed) is about 2" or 5cm on old money. This was 'as it came from the factory' and is covered by the transmission tunnel carpet. If it helps I'll measure it's position. I'm not sure of the location on a 4 speed box. Richard
  22. Yes using a 'winding tool' wil help. This can be bought from most 'good' car spare stores or Halfords. I haven't used one but the principal is that it applies pressure to force the piston back while also rotating. I think you can use pliers but a slip and you could end up damaging the piston bore etc. NB. Be careful now you have the caliper off as I found that by moving the hand brake actuater leaver 'just to see what it does' the piston came right out of the housing Good luck Richard
  23. Sam / Nick If no one can relay from Leatherhead I'll be happy to go and collect from Nick (assuming he is willing and able to collect from Thacham). Sam - Let me know if it works out. I'll be in touch about payment etc. on Monday when back at work (Blatmail) Thanks Richard
  24. Just to add to Sam's post. I live in Brentwood Essex and work in Barking (outer London). Any one passing nearby Richard
  25. Hi Sam, Yes interested in just the side-exit and adapter. I'm travelling from Brentwood (Essex) to the Silverstone Clasic for the weekend. If it helps I could 'swing past' Thacham on the way home on Sunday? If not we could arrange GONADS etc. Let me know by 'Blatmail' or post on here. Richard
