  1. Collected: http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Temp/Light%20Blocks/Light%20Blocks%20Collected.jpg
  2. Ok guys, I'm collecting them tomorrow from my supplier, hope to box most up on Sunday as part of my recovery from a mate stag outing, and will start shipping them out early next week! Thanks for all the patience. Phil
  3. Hi, I'm not taking any more orders at this moments as I have committed to numbers (and they are made). I should have some spare - but if it is ok, I'd like to wait until all those orders are fulfilled and I feel a little more in control again. I'll then post how many spares I have and we can go from there - I'll ping you a PM when I reach that stage. Shouldn't be a problem though - hope you understand. Phil
  4. Another update for you. As of today, all units are folded and welded and awaiting painting. Hopefully this will be done either tomorrow or Friday. That just leaves me with the slight challenge of collecting them all (not sure they are there this weekend due to a wedding)... so it might be during next week when I can collect and start boxing them up - and start polishing the stainless ones.... Phil
  5. Hi all, finally, some good news to post about! I popped down (in the 7, of course!) this morning to see my supplier and to approve the sample unit. Very pleased with the outcome, look really good and I am confident everyone will be happy with them. Only done the painted sample so far as was waiting for approval before buying the stainless. http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Temp/Light%20Blocks/Light%20Block%201.jpg http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Temp/Light%20Blocks/Light%20Block%202.jpg http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Temp/Light%20Blocks/Light%20Block%203.jpg
  6. Hi Ian, No problem - (you ordered via here) - I've switched you to shiny Phil
  7. Some bad news I'm afraid. My supplier has been trying to weld up a test pair (that he was then going to send to me for approval) and has found that because the units are so slim, they are distorting like crazy (aluminium soaks up the heat). We changed the construction to try to avoid this and to reduce the rejects we had last time, but it's just moved the issue elsewhere (from the vertical mounting strips to the top surface) So - I'm afraid that the aluminium is out. However - all is not lost. We had a good chat and steel will be more than capable of taking the welding heat. Because it is stronger, we can drop the material thickness down in order to keep the weight down to a similar level. Visually, they will look just the same. For the polished versions, we'll use Stainless steel which will actually give a better polished finish than aluminium anyway. Now, not wanting to end up in court at a trade descriptions hearing - obviously if anyone wants to change their mind, I'll happily return funds, etc. However, I really do feel that they'll look just as good (if not better) for a very slight weight gain - and they'll still be a considerable weight saving over the rubber ones. Sorry everyone - really wishing I'd had a sample made a lot earlier in the process now! On a positive note, I've got the 75 boxes in yesterday, so everything else is ready to rock'n'roll.... Phil
  8. Hi Jig / Jerry, I've ordered a couple of spares and a few (as expected) haven't paid, so I'm working on a first come, first served basis. So, if you look at the link below, I've added you at the bottom of the list on the un-paid tab. Payment details are on there as well. Payment was upfront as it's a lot to be stuck with if people pledge and then drop out after I've had them made. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16p-26ra06UCO8irbK1Eb7ccyFME4EDek6VhALr7QKZs/edit?usp=sharing Tom, All on order and I'm actually awaiting a call from my supplier with an ETA (he was a little swamped as I ordered nearly 4 times more than we originally discussed!). I've got 75 boxes & some bubble wrap packing material on its way, and I'm just waiting for a call back from Redline regarding a bulk buy of the rubber (but they have confirmed I can buy 100m in one go ). Will post an update once I know a completion date on the actual units.
  9. Hi Julian & James - Shouldn't be a problem, I've ordered a couple of spares, and I have a few people who haven't paid (so 1st come 1st served). Payment details on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16p-26ra06UCO8irbK1Eb7ccyFME4EDek6VhALr7QKZs/edit?usp=sharing If you can let me know full name, address and Blatchat name so I can tally them up. In the meantime I'll get you on the spreadsheet. Julian - can you also confirm if you want them in black or plain for polishing. Cheers (and sorry, meant to reply earlier, just got distracted as I can't access via my phone very easily)
  10. Hi Alastair - thanks, payment received Gareth - added you to the list - payment details on the spreadsheet linked to earlier. Phil
  11. Thanks again All, I've sent PM's to the few outstanding guys, but I can't get one to Phil01 as his inbox is full apparently Phil - are you still interested? Hoping to have enough funds in to place a manufacturing order early this week, but still need a few more in so I'm not at too much risk. Phil
  12. Thanks all, We're getting there!
  13. Thanks Nigel - updated online. Phil
  14. TomB - you'll have to be careful, far less traction with all that weight removed at the back end! All, sorry for the delay - I've now put a list together for all the people wanting a set (or multiple) - can I ask that people check the list for the following: a) You are on the list b) I have your request correct c) You don't have any ? against your request - please let me know the answer d) payment details are at the bottom of the list. Where rubber is requested I have added £1 on for this to cover the cost. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16p-26ra06UCO8irbK1Eb7ccyFME4EDek6VhALr7QKZs/edit?usp=sharing Not sure what I've let myself in for, buy hay-ho... :-)
  15. Hi all, Thanks for the interest - been a bit blown away to be honest! I'm just putting a spreadsheet together online listing choices, etc, which I'll share this evening and will also share the payment methods (paypal or bank transfer).... Phil
  16. This has been on one of the Facebook groups but now that I've got some detail (i.e. prices) I thought I'd post it here. I made these a good few years ago (http://tinyurl.com/jj9zt9s) and have been asked again if I could make up a new batch. NOTE: Changed to Mild Steel for painted black & Stainless for polished versions, not aluminium. They are a bit heavier, but still lighter and much nicer than the horrible rubber blocks Cost for a pair, delivered within the UK via 1st Class Post, would be £27.50 if we can get 20 pairs. What I haven't included is a length of rubber to go between it and the wing - I have used the SVA stuff that Caterham sell on mine. If people want it included then I can look into supplying that as well - please say and I'll go with the majority. Now - a little bit of bad news. The original design was a pain to make, and we had a fair few rejects where the aluminium welding distorted the visible top face. To get around this, we are going to do it slightly differently (basically poke the mounting strip through the unit, plug weld on the outer surfaces and then dress the welds flat on a linisher) but it means that we can't do the polished version this time as he can't polish out the scratch marks from the linisher to a mirror finish. The solution to this is that we go with the option of a 'Chrome' paint finish. Now, I haven't seen it in the flesh, but was told that whilst it isn't on par with a true Chrome finish it is quite close, it just has the look of a painted surface in terms of surface flatness. Alternatively, we could pick a silver colour instead. The other option, I guess, is that we get an unfinished unit and the end user (that means you lot) polishes them up by hand using wet'n'dry and then polish - it just isn't cost effective to have this done by a supplier. My issue with this option is that if you can't get them as good as you want you'll be unhappy and that's not something I want. Obviously, this doesn't effect the black versions at all. The awkward bit: Having been involved in a few bulk buys and having know people get a little caught out, I'd really like funds upfront - if we get 20 pairs then I'd be paying out £400 so I can't then afford for people to disappear into the ether leaving me with 'spares' that I've got to try to sell. Hope people understand that. Let me know if anyone is interested and I can add you to the list (obviously if you post of teh facebook topic then please don't on here as I won't know who's who!) http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Caterham/Images/Lb2.JPG Cheers
  17. Interesting - I am going to draw up the parts, but I have the pre-96 front end, so believe mine has to be different. I couldn't buy the inboard set-up even when Freestyle were around due to the chassis being different. Good luck - it is a shame the design died with the company.
  18. I ran the Piper285's in mine for a few years and whilst mine was just over the 200 mark, it was a very nice cam. It was very tractable but pulled right up to the 7200 limit. I did swap the con rod bolts out for high spec bolts though - not sure you should keep them standard at much above 200bhp. Are you running a Silvertop or Blacktop Zetec? I've still got my Silvertop 200hp head in the loft of the garage (but I've sold the cams).... I've since gone for a big valve head and custom cams, steel rods and fordged pistons... hence it is my spare.
  19. Hi Simon, You could try Perfect Coating in Newbury - they still do Hydro and might be the nearest to you. www.detailmycar.co.uk/perfectcoating.html
  20. My spreadsheet of torque settings (mostly from my manual) has the following: FRONT UPRIGHTS Application; Bolt Size; Torque Setting Steering arm to upright; 7/16" UNF x 1 7/8"; 22 - 27 lb/ft Stub axle; 1/2" Nyloc; 60 - 65 lb/ft Brake disc to hub; 3/8" UNF x 1 1/2"; 22 - 27 lb/ft Caliper to bracket bolts; M10; 50 lf/ft Caliper bracket to upright bolts; 7/16" UNF x 1 1/4"; 40 - 45 lb/ft http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Caterham/Files/Torque_settings.xls
  21. I've run an AIM since 2006, never had an issue with an MOT... not sure why it wouldn't be legal? Love mine http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Caterham/html_files/2006_dashboard.htm Can't find it now, but they did a version for road cars where the lamps at the sides are dedicated to normal warnings for battery, lights, etc, with suitable symbols printed on it....
  22. Have you checked your idle stabilisation settings - that could be targetting a higher rpm with increased temps.... This is a copy of my current k3 map - might be worth downloading and comparing a few settings: http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Temp/TrackNRoad%20BigValve%20233%20Zetec%20-%20v2.map
  23. When I got mine a couple of years ago I asked them what colour they were and whilst it was mixed for them, I was given Peugeot Cossack Grey as the closest match. I was painting up some flat centres that I'd bought off ebay as I wasn't keen on the large chrome ones that came with the wheels.
  24. Sorry... yes. But a perfect time to upgrade to widetrack
  25. Hi, No you can't, the chassis has a threaded spigot sticking out of it which the older type of wishbone fits over, with a bush fitted first, then a second one added afterwards, with a large washer. You can change the outer bushes easily, but the ones at the rear of the front mounting require the wishbone to come off.
