  1. The R500 spec here doesn't mention anything other than 1.9 turns lock to lock Seems my memory is failing about the number of turns each has, but if you almost get a turn in each direction I suspect you've got an 8%. Adrian may well be right - 22% is for track only unless you ask for it. Phil Waters
  2. I'd have thought an R500 would have 22% as standard. An 8% will have just over 2 (2.2?) turns lock to lock while the 22% is less than 2, 1.75 I think, lock to lock. Phil Waters

    Upgrades

Not got too far with it yet although I have most of the parts, next stage is I need to take my axle out to get some brackets welded on. See here for some pics of the sort of set-up I'll end up with and here for an old thread. Phil Waters

    Upgrades

Confirmed for this winter: New carpets here Seats being trimmed in black leather Compomotive CXR wheels here 5 3/4" Headlights Clear rear lenses H/Duty Clutch Rear anti-rollbar - kind of half way there, not sure if I'll get it finished or not. Also on the go is an Ammo big valve head for my Zetec, 2mm larger inlets, 1mm larger inlets, Ammo's 'special' high lift hydraulic cams and associated springs and a set of verniers. Not sure when this will be fitted as I need to sort out the funding of the rods and pistons but getting the work done whilst I don't need my inlet manifold. It should then be able to rev to over 8k 😬 😬 Phil Waters
  5. Well, they do on mine. Oh how I laughed when I tried fitting them 🙆🏻 Phil Waters
  6. You can mount a master cut-out where you like, doesn't have to be on the side of the windscreen. You could put it above your knees, next to a heater control, or over on the passenger side (high enough that they can't knock it). That would kill all power whilst not being used. If you are getting a new battery now, then consider a Hawker/Odyssey which hold charge much better than Banners (when under no load!) Phil Waters
  7. Show how long I've been on here... We also did one from Shift-i which I got and used before selling on which is still going strong. I was very happy with it, I just got shift lights with my ECU and then with my new dash, otherwise I'd still be using it here Phil Waters
  8. My experience is you'll need a proper charger to recover your battery, a trickle charger doesn't have enough of a kick. On the Pvamp theme - I took mine out the other weekend to store as I was removing the engine, install date was mid 2002 and it's still going strong. I think they are excellent as long as you don't leave any loads on them. Phil Waters
  9. www.parcels2go.com is worth a look for a good price. Of course, Guy might just be thinking about weight loss and is going to cross-drill the casing Phil Waters
  10. I've been painting some wheel centres for my new wheels with Halfords paint and I've let the paint harden for 24hrs before flatting back with 1500 grit and then applying some clear lacquer. This, however, needs 2 weeks to harden before it is cut back and polished. I'm lucky as I will bring them in and put them in the airing cupboard (a bit harder with a nosecone ) Phil Waters
  11. Pic of the Raceline kit here (metal pipe runs along under the radiator). Normal colour is Blue - but I like to be awkward Phil Waters
  12. Isn't this one more fitting? here 😬 Phil Waters
  13. I'd be interested in a set of the Black / Silver if you get enough people. Any pictures? Phil Waters
  14. Oh, and have you got the matching clutch fork? They have a different taper on the end due to the thickness of the casting I think. The normal one you get won't quite work as the corners or the taper will hit the casting. Phil Waters
  15. To quote Monty Python: 😬 Phil Waters
  16. Yes it is - see my right up of fitting one, I fitted one when I swapped from my x/flow to the Zetec. quote from my website: However - also worth reading this quote: Some (scanned) pics: here here and here. I have heard of plenty of people that didn't have to cut it down, so I may have just been unlucky. Hope that helps 😬 Phil Waters
  17. Cheers guys, Simon - where about in Winnersh, I'm only 5 mins away. Could you drop me a text on 07795 011351 and I'll call you back. Edit: Notice how I've assumed that you brought it with you - If not, not to worry, I'll meet up with Ian during the week sometime. It's not urgent. 18. Anyone got one hanging in a garage that I could borrow for a week or so. I've got a spare head I want to strip down and get cleaned (no - not polished, that would be daft ) It's for a Zetec, but anything suitable for a overhead cam engine will be fine. Cheers, Phil Waters
  19. Some pics of my flush fitting centre caps from eBay, now uploaded to my web album. Have the nearest paint code match for the Grey (Pug Cassock) and will be painting them and then adding a coat or two of lacquer to protect. Pic 1, Pic 2 and Pic 3 Phil Waters
  20. Now that is what you call service! And all the way from planet zog, as well 😬 Phil Waters
  21. You may have an issue with the connecting pipe - I changed from a carb tank to an injection one and the inlet pipe is smaller on the new injection tank. I had to modify the funnel part of my filler with a smaller pipe (half way between the difference) and use a pipe that could be clamped up. It isn't ideal. The inlet position is also slightly different on the injection and you'll have that long solid pipe as part of the new filler which may not line up with the inlet on a carb tank. I would talk to ThinkAuto about getting the funnel the right size to suit the tank inlet pipe size - might be wise to lift your boot and measure yours (I think carb = 2 1/4", but it's been a while, so please check.) Another tip is to get one which is small enough (i.e. the bit you see on the outside) that would allow you to swap the funnel part to suit injection at a later date if you ever thing of going the route of a Zetec on TB's (you know you want to 😬) Phil Waters
  22. I think you can get them from Compomotive - do a search on Tecktalk. I've uploaded some pics with tyres fitted and on the car - very please with the look. here plus the rest in the album. Phil Waters
  23. I think the standard is the Chrome cap, 2.5" is the size (63.5mm). I think they look alright on the rear 8" rims, but the fronts look silly, they stick out far too much and the chrome really stands out on the grey colour I went for. I have therefore just ordered some of these and will try painting them to match (or black if I hash that up 😬) Phil Waters Edited by - philwaters on 27 Nov 2009 21:26:45
  24. Mine were 6 x 13" = ET24, 8 x 13" = ET20, but this is a different rear offset due to my live axle width. Mine came with the caps but I don't like them much - they are a bit too bling. I might either paint them or try to find an alternative. And yes, they are the grey. Phil Waters
  25. Some pics of mine trial fitted on the car - here Can you see what is missing? [hint] they are black and round [/hint] Phil Waters
