  1. My second one as started leaking (after being told when fitted "these latest ones are much better", oh yea? Anyhow I'm thinking of paying the difference and getting the ali one from CC. Two questions, is it a fairly simple job to do for a spanner and hammer man? Also I'm told you need to get a fan adapter for the ali one, is this right? Thanks for any help. 2. Seems strange I don't have any of these problems with my 150, it's very smooth across the whole rev band and mine was set up by Brett at Midlands. One thing he did do was to change the automatic cam belt adjuster for the manual one saying they run a lot better that way (don't ask me why I'm only a spanner and hammer man). But I think if I were you I would speak to Brett, I've always found him very helpful and always ready to sort problems if he can.

    Yellow C Reg

Spotted on the B6121 Bourne - Stamford road at Ryall, sounded good.
  4. Hello Stuart/Sue, well spotted, yes Jean and I walked over to Normanton and back and she did say " I wonder if Stuart and Co are about. Great blatting weather hope all is well with you two.
  5. What door di you have fitted?
  6. When I got my powervamp battery I also bought their isolater and was told by them that they should always be fitted to the +terminal, don't know why but I followed their instrutions.
  7. Not really, I guess most people garage their cars over winter or when not in use in which case the light wouldn't be used. But if I'm out somewhere and using a public carpark I tend to immobilise the battery with the master switch take the key with me but then switch the dummy immobiliser light on. If that fools the majority it's better than nothing I suppose.
  8. David, As I said previously I've left mine weeks with the master switch on and the batteries been fine. But it's quite easy to wire in a red light on the dash through a fuse to come on so that at least it looks like the immobliser is on.
  9. I've got a PVR25 and I fitted a battery master switch under the dash, I throw the switch every time I put the car away and find the battery never runs low. The cars been stood now since mid November so just out of interest I connected the optimate and the green light came on within 10 mins. Edited by - Pete-B on 12 Feb 2012 11:31:24
  10. The BMW diff is also an upgrade. I had my Sigma 150 fitted with the open BMW diff a while back and in my opinion it was the best money I'd spent for a long time. Almost totally silent and makes for driving the car a much better experience. I do agree though that it should never be, having spent out for a new car then having to spend over another grand to get rid of the horrible transmission noise ain't on.

  12. I don't see why storage over winter will do any harm. I have to admit I put mine to sleep for a while, mainly because of salty roads and have done for a few years. I change the oil in mine and put it on stands first and if I do run it I just bring it up to temp before switching off.

    Dremels

What was the best and most used accessory you bought for your Dremel?

    Dremels

Thinking of dropping a hint to SWMBO myself about one for Christmas, would the 4000 with accessories be a option at around £90.
  15. I'm in the process of doing a two year service on my 150 Sigma. After listening to and taking advice from members I bought a Eezebleed to change the brake and clutch fluids. The brakes were a doddle it really made easy work of it but a different story with the clutch. There's no way can I turn the bleed screw enough to get fluid out, I don't have big hands by any means but they are now both skinned in an effort to do it. My question is, has anybody found an easy way to do this or could come up with a suggestion if so I would be eternally grateful.
  16. If I use an Ezi-Bleed to change the brake fluid is it best to use it without fluid in the Ezi-Bleed bottle, ie, just use it as a pressure system? If so, I take it, I would need to keep releasing the pressure in order to make sure the fluid in the reservoir doesn't drop below the outlet and introduce air! Thanks for any advice.

    Brake fluid

Thanks for that JV, would 1 litre be enough for brakes and clutch?

    Brake fluid

HI, Hoping to do a full service on my standard Sigma Roadsport this weekend, how much brake fluid do I need to do a complete change?
  19. Martin my 150 failed the emission test on the first attempt but only because I had difficulty in keeping the revs constant. The tester was very friendly and adviced me to hold my knee on the side panel and try and keep the revs steady at just under 3000. I did that and it sailed through, best of luck.
  20. On having a quick look there dosen't seem to be any grease nipples on these prophafts or have I missed them? Edited by - Pete-B on 9 Oct 2011 18:54:16

    Diffs again?

I left mine with them because I was helping my son who was exhibiting at the Goodwood Revival but I believe if you arrange it, it can be done the same day. Martin I'm not sure if the price as altered but mine was done under the original offer because I'd put my name down for it but just got round to having it done, £1194 for new propshaft drive shafts and diff fitted.

    Diffs again?

For anyone who's thinking should I shouldn't I change their Sierra diff for the BMW one let me give you my experience. I built my Sigma 150 some time ago now but was very disappointed at all the whines clunks shunts and various other noises coming from the tranmission. I took the diff to Phil at Road and Race who worked his magic on it but even he said due to the very make up of it and the fact it was in a Caterham it was never going to be that quiet. I use mine for only road driving and I know I'm not one of these dyed in the wool die-hards who say you have to expect this and it's all part of the experience of driving these cars, I just don't agree. I mean lets face it theyr'e not cheap to buy even as a kit although I'm not complaining about this, no one made me get one it was my choice. But having bought and built it I didn't expect it to sound like an old tractor going along the road. Anyhow after listening to other peoples views thoughts and advice I decided to go for it and get the open BMW transmission fitted at CC Midlands last Thursday. Boy what a difference it's almost competely silent, just a very very slight whine in third, hardely noticeably and no clunks, a real pleasure to drive. I can't guarantee this would be the same for everyones car but for what it's worth that's my experience, I'm really pleased I took the plunge. Edited by - Pete-B on 27 Sep 2011 22:34:40

    Plugs

I've bought the recommended Ford plugs in readiness to do a service on my Sigma 150. Are these used out of the box or do they need a re-gap?

    Brake fluid?

Has anyone else used the Gunson Eeezibleed on their Caterham, if so how did you find it works and does one of the caps fit our master cylinder?
  25. Pete-B

    Brake fluid?

Thanks again, so in essence, clear tube in fluid, open nipple, depress pedal, close nipple, release pedal and continue until clear fluid appears. Your a champion mate
