Just out of interest what diff are you putting back?
  2. Got my 59L Cargo Yellow today from Paints4U and it's a pretty good match, bear in mind my car is nearly four years old, but I'm very pleased!
  3. I'm sorry Elie but the 59L you mention in your latest posting is not the one Paints4U are talking about. If you enter 59L in their search you do indeed come up with Jamaica Yellow along with various other colours, it's all very confusing I know but if you order 59L Cargo Yellow that is what you'll get which is the equivilant to the 51U Cargo Yellow that you mention. As I say it's all very confusing and Louise the girl I spoke to, and who is very knowledgebly about paints and even application did explain it all.
  4. I did the same project, I laid the Powervamp down and adjusted the Banner battery holder with a hacksaw to fit. The top bracket didn't quite meet so I made a spacer up with a bit of 1/4" tube with a bolt through.
  5. Got back to Paints4U and was told they don't do 51U their eqivalent is 59L. Cargo Yellow.
  6. I've been talking to the people at Paints 4 U this morning about yellow touch up paint after a few people recommended them. It seems from reading the comments on our site from different people that, Vauxhall Cargo Yellow is a pretty close match. When I mentioned this to them this morning it seems there are two Cargo Yellows because they said " which one, 51L or 59L". So if anyone has still got their kit and and could check the code I would really appreciate this. The other thing they said was " rather than getting the touch up kit it would be better to get a 100ml bottle because if it's cellulose you don't really need the lacquer. They will supply this with touch up brush or 5 spears saying the spears would be best for paint chips, and the cost is £10.99 plus £2.25 carriage
  7. Rob, Mine's a Powervamp 25 racing battery, much better cranking than Banner and it's sealed so you can lie it flat if you want to and of coarse it's maintenance free. Powervamp say they should have a 8-10 year life. Edited by - Pete-B on 14 Mar 2011 23:00:43
  8. (They buy a part made for them and coded for them) I'm probably still being a bit dumb here but surely that same part ( an ECU in this case ) is not exclusive to CC or is it? If not then others must have their own code!
  9. Being a complete numpty on these matters probably less knowlegable than you Garth, I'm a bit confused - nothing new there then. 😬 Some of the postings are saying the maps on our ECU's can't be altered without the codes that only CC have. If thats the case how do the two Steve's manage to do it or am I missing the obvious?
  10. Go Powervamp you won't regret it!
  11. I lost the cap off mine and replaced it with a screw on milk bottle top, that was 18 months ago and it's still there. I also did the service on my Sigma 150 as per book and got all the bits from CC Midlands. Edited by - Pete-B on 9 Mar 2011 15:38:20

    Paint Code

Probably been asked before but does anyone know the colour code for Caterham Yellow? Thanks.
  13. Corrosion on wheels? I used to have an old Triumph Herald like that! 😬
  14. Been using the optimate on my PVR 25 all winter and all seems fine. Rightly or wrongly I charge it to full then leave for about three or four weeks to run down a bit by the imobiliser then recharge.

A couple of axle stands from Halfords would be cheap and you would have them for future use? Peter

    Kitchen Gear

Electrolux built in double electric oven with grill Model EOD6330 in white, matching Electrolux gas hob and also Electrolux extractor unit. To complete the set a white double sink complete with mixer taps and waste pipes. All these are in VERY good condition and VERY clean and come with their instruction books. We're desperate for space hence the silly price of £50 for the lot, buyer collect. I would be happy to email photo's over if you're interested. Peter
  21. I use it in my diff I put it in last year and yes it did make a difference in mine, It's much quieter. You will need to suck the old oil out though, I used a little pump which I bought from Machine Mart which cost just a few pounds. Peter

    New diff again

I don't know if this is old hat but I've been told that the new transmission is from a BMW 1 Series and the ratio is 3.64! Peter

    CC/New Diff

It seems fairly certain now that the new transmission will be sourced from BMW but I wonder what model? Peter
  24. I appreciate the point of drilling the roll bar Ian, the one inside the boot was in the base plate and the one in the bar was very tiny, just big enough to get the thin wire through. It was a risk I took and having worked for 20 years in heavy engineering which involved calculating stresses and strains. Without being able to measure it now, I find it hard to believe a hole that size would create a significant danger. By taking that tiny risk it did mean I was able to make a more professional looking job. Peter
  25. Fil M, I fitted mine to the top of the roll bar, I drilled a hole at the base of the bar inside the boot, then drilled a hole in the centre of the bar at the top where the light was going to fit. then with the help of a bit of wire and a bit more patience I managed to thread the cable through it was worth the effort to be able to hide everything. I also purchased the special loom from CC which was quite cheap and which made the connection an easy job. Peter
