  1. Large, I reckon. You could ask them the dia of the uncompressed fire-ring on the two gasket sizes. It mustn't overhang the bore when compressed, so should be at least about 1mm bigger than the bore uncompressed. Having the fire-ring slightly back from the bore is unlikely to cause a problem. 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  2. TIP When fitting the upward pointing thin headed bolts into the boss, apply a smear of grease or Waxoyl. The bolts are exposed to road dirt and water from below an rainwater from above. The bolts can rust in SOLID in a short time. Once this happens, the thin head cannot drive enough torque to unseize the rust. Destructive methods then required if bar is to be removed. Successful bar fitting and Le Sept. 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  3. .......Oil companies might not like it....... Lubricating oil, is a bi-product of distilling petrol and diesel from crude oil. If the oil companies couldn't sell it, where would it all go? 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬

  5. Hi Jeremy Aeroscreen definitely helps reduce drag. What engine are you running? The uphill Kemel straight is always a huge test of power! 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  6. Hello If the car is right in every other way, just buy it and sort floor or seat spacing afterwards............ 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  7. Yes, I agree with Stu. OK from safety point of view. If raised up on proper spacer bars, no problem. A stack of penny washers wouldn't be too good! 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  8. Hi Pat If it is the right car for you, spec, colour price etc..., the seat can be raised up again with spacers, putting it right back at the height it would be a standard floor. Alternatively, the floor can be changed back to a standard flat one and the removed floor sold for a good price on Blatchat "For Sale" page. Good luck hunting for your 7 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  9. Metal fatigue. How many miles and how many revs usually used? Lucky catch! Just shows the importance of diagnosing poor running or mis-fires ASAP. Pressing on with an engine problem rarely improves things! 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬

    Roll cage

.....and once you've finished pushing and pulling the cage to get it on, there will be new loads in the spaceframe. A suspension set-up check is worthwhile to make sure it is all ok and to maximise the benefits of the stiffer structure. 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬

  14. Hi Dick On my 2005 car the button end of the handbrake sits in the OFF position about 1.5" above the chassis frame (about 0.75" above the tunnel trim. I've seen others like this too. I think this is like this due to the use of some production handbrake parts from another car. Was thinking of modding it to get it to go right down into the hollow in the tunnel trim so it is flush or below the level of the padding, but haven't had a chance yet to strip out to see what's possible. Racers and trackdayers often gaffer tape over the handbrake lever to prevent entanglement with cuffs and arm restraints... 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬

  16. Hi Sandboy What size dia, width and offset (ET)? Will they fit 2005 superlight, Nuts inc? 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  17. Thanks Mark and Guy I work in MK so maybe Markiebabe is nearer. If we can get in touch, I could nip out of the office to pick it up? Mark, YHblatM. Peter 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  18. Hello....... Plea for help! Does anyone in the MK/Northants area have a rivetting tool for the pop fasteners on the boot cover. I just ordered a set of poppers and the fitting tool from CC. The poppers arrived today, but they had forgotten to add the tool. Heading off on Monday for some rapid motoring and would like to secure my cover from flapping in the wind. If I could possibly ask for the loan of a tool locally, that would be most helpful. Can collect and deliver back when done. Thanks in anticipation! 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  19. Hi Mr Flatters The endo would be from work and I can't really lend it out for transporting elsewhere without me. I thought if you were local I could bring it to you. So with you being in Surrey that wouldn't really work. Regarding your clutch, if clutch fluid has leaked out, it probably won't stop leaking and if there is a creaking noise, there must be something wrong? Personally, I would try to get the engine out and sort the problem before Le Mans. Getting the work done here in UK where you have access to tools and parts far outweights the agg of a breakdown in France..... JMO 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  20. I can borrow one overnight. Located in MK / East Midlands area. Any good 🤔 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  21. Ahh. Thanks. Obviously a much spotted plate! Maybe it should be posted under the Nice Plate - Wrong Car thread. It should be on our Nifty's car! 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬

Reg No on a Black BMW. Could this be our very own Blatchatter Nifty with his altruistic delivery service? If not, would be a great reg for him - but I suspect it would be on a 7 ! 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
  23. I suggest using a 74 deg C stat. This opens earlier and allows full water flow. The last thing you need is the stat partly closing up on cool days when you are out for a blat. Drilling the stat base plate 4 - 6 holes dia 4mm help flow and bleeding bubbles/airlocks out. 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬

  25. Hi Combine The offset is the distance from the centreline of the rim to the mounting face. Your existing HPC wheels may have this stamped on them. Usually expressed as an something like ET38. (38mm offset) Whether it would be the same recommended offset for 13" wheels, I don't know. I suggest you either: Ask CC tech dept / look at some other Caterham 13" wheel / search blatchat. You may want to go for a set up with the wider 8" rims at the back which have a different offset. Regarding the gap to wings, the overall diameter of the 13" tyre may not be very different depending on the aspect ratio or profile of the tyres used. Hope this helps. We can discuss at next NBB pub meet if you are going. 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
