  1. Hey, thanks All. :-) Pretty much backs up what I thought sounded like a good idea. My W*******d pal has sawn half through his bolts. Just using 5 fixings per side is cool. I'm going to do this on mine but skip the rivnut bit. They are quite a bit heavier than a nylon nut!!! There's no such thing as too much bhp per ton ! 6SpeedManual
  2. Hi My friend with a We*****ld has mounted his rear wings using plastic numberplate fixings. If he clobbers a rear wing on a bale/barrier when sprinting, the plastic bolts break clean off and it avoids damaging the main part of his bodywork. I know he has a fibreglass body but does anyone know about using this trick to avoid damage to our delicate aluminium skin panels? Also they do not rust and seize solid ! 3. Hey Airhog ! Good on you for trying this. It is interesting that it made as much difference as you colourfully describe. :-) I thought the other factors of geometry, spring rates, ARB, and damper settings, not to mention the overall weight distribution of the car's layout, may have had such an effect as to make it still understeer. Shows the value of tweaking a Seven's TPs to tune handling. There's no such thing as too much bhp per ton ! 6SpeedManual
  4. Helps keep it safe and understeery especially when lifting off the gas mid corner. All recommended settings are a compromise pressure so the driver does not have to keep changing it depending on no. of passengers, luggage etc. Volume mfrs need to design a set-up which is consistently safe and predictable for all drivers under all road and load conditions. You could try FULLY reversing the tyre pressures to see how it effects the handling !! (Just 1 or 2 psi would probably not be very noticeable, going all the way reversing them, even for a short test drive MAY show some difference but there are lots of other factors built in to make benign handling) Please don't come to me if you poke it through a hedge backwards :-) !!!
  5. Hi Mark NOT NOT NOT white spirit. Cellulose thinners almost certainly. If you can find it try to get "Brushing Cellulose Thinner". It dries slower and is easier to brush smooth before it goes all clarty. regards There's no such thing as too much bhp per ton ! 6SpeedManual
  6. Hi Stephen A tip... If the outer cable sleeve is ok, just pull out the inner cable and thread a new one in. This saves a lot of grovelling about under the seats and dashboard. To help prevent it fraying in use (and when trying to thread it through the outer cable) flow a little solder in to the cut end to bind the strands together. I have some spare extinguisher pulls if you need one. regards There's no such thing as too much bhp per ton ! 6SpeedManual
