  1. Does anyone have an old headrest available they would like to sell, two would be even better. Condition isn't too important, but the better the better, IYSWIM. I would even be interested in buying the whole seat if that was available, cloth or leather it isn't to important.
  2. I may still have a spare pre-bent OE Caterham under dash handbrake lever knocking around somewhere, if it is any help, I will have a look and see if I can find it and send you a PM Barry.
  3. I assume you eventually found a genuine buyer on Ebay? If not drop me a PM I could well be interested. Ta, Paul.
  4. Hi Charlie, I've got a set of 4 Ford PCD Minilite replica wheels and oldish soft compound tyres, can't remember what make offhand, as they've been in my attic for years, but whatever was supplied as standards back in the early 2000's. Does around £95 for the 4 sound fair? I'm just outside Taunton, near J25 of the M5 if it is of any help. Paul
  5. If you change your mind Paul, can I have 2nd dibs please? Many thanks, Paul
  6. I doubt it is a sticking cable. If it was, working it a few times before the first start would get rid of the rev hang, and why should the cable only be sticky when cold? Nope it is more likely something to do with emission regs. or mapping I bet. Although it does seem to happen with roller barrel setups more often, so maybe this could be worth investigating - speak to the manufacturer of the RBs. Don't forget to let us know what the answer is, so we can benefit too.
  7. I have this same problem on a Cosworth 2l. 220bhp Duratec, fitted with roller barrel throttle, but not certain if it is a mechanical problem, which should be easy enough to check, maybe a stronger spring, or likely to be software, as some developers build in this 'rev hang' to burn up excess fuel when cold because of emissions legislation. I would say it is worth speaking to a rolling road specialist about it if you can't sort the mechanical side.
  8. Hi Ali, I've got a cage, off 2001 ex academy DD car and only want £150 for it, but I'm guessing Taunton, Somerset, is too far for you? Paul
  9. I hesitate to mention the name this forum, but Westfield sell a nice sprung wiper blade of the right size, that works a lot better than the Caterham OE. Probably available world wide too, don't have a link, but shouldn't be difficult to find.
  10. Thanks Stuart, I am really looking for some younger tyres, probably no more than 2 - 3 years old if poss.
  11. Does anyone have a spare pair or even 2 pairs of ZZS tyres with a reasonable amount of tread on them, which they would like to sell please, in size 195/50/15? Would also consider ZZRs, as I don't drive in the wet too often if I can help it. Thanks.
  12. Hi Stuart, do you have any idea how old the tyres are please? Thanks.
  13. Hi Rob, I do have a Duratec decat bypass pipe going to waste in the back of my garage, in good condition too, the only trouble is that it is for a CSR260, so don't know if it will fit your car. You may want to have a word with Caterham and see what they say? Pricewise, I guess half the retail price would be about the start point of negotiations, so in the region of £175? If you think it could work, let me have your email address and I'll get some pictures off to you. Paul.
  14. It sounds as if you got away lightly, you wouldn't one of those things coming into your screen. Even the car doesn't sound too badly damaged. When I had a small deer run into the front of my Morgan, the bill came to around £5000! Chuck away the old wing and buy a new one from Caterham. If it's not a standard gel coat colour, then you will have to find a paint shop to match it up. Are there any other areas which need doing whilst the colour is in the gun? Any holes where the bolt heads have torn through, shouldn't show once the new wing is on, but put some washers behind them, or better still use plastic number plate bolts so when the next one hits they just break off and won't do any damage to the skin. Best of luck with it. Let us know how you get on.
  15. Yes, I have as a matter of fact, it's brand new, but haven't a clue what it's worth though. Any thoughts? Paul.
  16. "The trouble is how to quantify the effect and judging if it is all good." It depends on what you are looking for. If it is a cooler underbonnet area, then that is easy to see and read with a suitable thermometer, if it is increased power through better gas flow, then it is a bit like fairy dust - hard to see and even more difficult to prove.
  17. This may be of use for any Ford X/F engines which are not already fitted with twin Webers. It is an aluminium inlet manifold to which the Webers can be bolted. Email me for some photos. I guess it must be worth around £50 plus P&P, but all offers considered. Paul.
  18. Obviously it will depend on how fragile the engine is, K's being more fragile than Duratecs I would guess, but when I had a CSR 260, which are prone to VERY hot footwells, I wrapped my primaries from head to exit from the body, for the 7 years I owned the car, with no obvious ill affects, and it did keep the footwells cooler, as well as one of the main brake lines which are clipped under the top chassis tube immediately above the primaries. So, I would conclude the benefits are more than the downsides and would do it again if there were any delicate parts in the vicinity, including driver/passenger.
  19. Thanks both, in fact either size would do, but if they are made in a 50 profile it would actually suit my gearing better. I'll have a quick scan on Ebay Nick.
  20. I'm after a pair of 15" Avon CR500's preferably 195/50/15 but please, no nearly worn out 8 year old ones. I would probably be OK with a pair around a year and a half old or younger, with little use. Thanks. Paul.
  21. Yep me too. Many years ago, I pulled up at a road works red light, situated on a hill, and as the handbrake was under the passenger side scuttle, it never got used, but as the light looked as if it was going to be red for some time, I actually undid my 4 point, and pulled the lever on, enough to hold me on the hill. The engine then got switched off and I waited and waited, with the queue building up behind me. Then when the lights finally did change, I was all flustered and started and drove off so as not to hold people up. It wasn't until I had parked up 20 miles further on, that I could smell the pads and see them smoking gently. Whooops. Anyway, I released the h/brake so the disc didn't warp, and after it had cooled sufficiently, it seemed to work just as well as it did before. So, it seems it does no harm.
  22. The CSR has been gone for a year now, and is unlikely to be replaced, so there is no point in hanging on to this lovely and very sexy set of black Image wheels. They are all the correct offsets for the CSR and the fronts at least will not fit a standard car. The rears will, but will need extra wide rear wings, which I have and am prepared to sell. The wheels are in good condition with only a few light marks on the rim, nothing serious and never tracked or heavily kerbed. The fronts are 8" x 15" and the rears are 10" x 15" and both accept the standard CSR sized tyres, although the rear 245's are stretched slightly more than on the standard rim. I believe they are Image 3 piece Billet 95 as seen here: http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/billet-95-alloy-wheel/ but in satin black. Price, is as usual a difficult one, but as they are £1386 for a new set, I guess we can start at around £850 or thereabouts? If interested let me have your email address and I will get some pictures off to you. Paul.
  23. Thank you all for the help. I wasn't planning on spending around £11k, and if I was to get a new crate engine, I think it would be a 2.3 Ecoboost, as used in the Mustang, knocking out tons of torque and about 350 mustangs (sorry ). for around £8k, as far as I can remember. So still looking for a good s/h motor, if there is such a thing.
  24. I'm probably whistling in the wind here, but if anyone has a 2.3, preferably Cosworth, Duratec for sale I would be very interested in purchasing. I would also be interested in a 2.5, but they are even rarer! Maybe someone has written off a CSR even, and wants to sell a few bits? BM with any info please. Ta.
