  1. Can I have 2nd dibs if the sale doesn't materialise please?
  2. You didn't say what your budget was, but you may like to consider my CSR200, which has SV spec dimensions. Mine also has lowered floors both sides which will undoubtedly help someone tall. My car was registered Dec 2009 and has now done just under 6,000 miles. I'm asking £28,750, have a look on Pistonheads about 4 pages in, it's yellow, or if interested BM me and I will send you some pictures.
  3. Thanks John, a little more investigation is called for I think.
  4. Yes, you've got it John. I don't currently have an OP gauge or sender at all, and although it is a Cosworth engine, in my case a dry sumped unit, it isn't fitted to a Seven, but a Morgan, hence my query as to the take off point.
  5. Great thread, been thinking of fitting a combine op and temp gauge, but where does the sender screw in please?
  6. How about 175bhp, LSD, adjustable AVO's all round, wide track, big brakes and competition m/c, freestyle front a/r bar, cut out switch, born 1992, and only done 32,000 miles? Offers iro. £14250. Probably zero depreciation from now on?
  7. Hi Sid, l assume you mean the flat ones? If so, I do have a pair in good condition. BM me your email address and I'll get some pictures off to you. I've no idea what they are worth, do you want to make a suggestion once you've seen the pictures? Paul
  8. I expect you are fixed up by now Simon, but my sons wife is selling her 2000 reg Toyota Yaris, as it's now too small for a growing family and they've gone for a Fabia estate. It's done around 33,000 miles. It's in silver and they've had it for around 2 years now, with no probs. I think they will be asking around £4500, but natch, that's open to offers. They are based a fai way from you though, in Exeter, but it may be worth a journey, as it's a very tidy low mileage car. BM me if interested and I can pass on their phone number or email address. Paul.
  9. 6'3" could be OK in a standard car, though it depends if you're beamy or not, and whether your height is in your legs or your back. Let us know how you get on.
  10. Your 105E sounds interesting. What engine do you have in it?
  11. Probably not exactly what you want Joseph, but may be worth considering? I'm thinking of selling my 1992 Vauxhall HPC 16v, with a tad over 30000 miles on the clock. This is a bit of a special car, as it has the full leather interior, not only 'S' seats, but leather transmission tunnel, dashboard and side panels, it has fully colour coded hood, sidescreens and full tonneau, what look like fairly new HPC wheels and tyres, adjustable AVO shock absorbers front and rear, wide track front end, adjustable Freestyle anti roll bar, big brakes with a competition master cylinder, Aluminium radiator, etc etc. It is a really nice and very smart car. I'm looking for offers around £15,250. I think the general consensus is that good HPC's are begining to increase in value now, and even if they don't , I doubt they will drop any more if kept in good condition, simply because of the bhp per £ they afford. They were rated at 175bhp when new, though I've never had this on rollers so couldn't say what it actually is. As I said not quite what you are looking for, but may be worth considering. I'm afraid I'm a long way from you though, down in Somerset. If you are interested, bm me with your email address and I'll send some pictures across, same goes, if anyone else is interested, as it isn't the car shown in my avatar.
  12. I fancy the Vx HPC is a very underated car. The engine, whilst a little heavy is as strong as old boots and torquey too, and in 10 years of hillclimbing and sprinting them, I never had problems with the understeer that one might think a heavy engine would produce. Best of luck with your BDR HPC Mike.
  13. Much clearer now, thanks Higgy, everyone can see what you are selling now, and sounds like a real gem. I'm glad you sold the number plate. What's next on the car agenda, anything interesting?
  14. Great, thank you for the reply. Are we to assume it is a 1983 1600 X/F live axle Seven, built from a kit of new parts, supplied by Caterham Cars when they were on the hill? Does it have a single down draught carb or twin 40 Webers? How about the seating, I assume it is the default bench backrest with individual seat squabs? How about wheels and tyres, full weather equipment, tonneau, colour or is it polished Ali. If so what colour is the fibreglass. How many miles have you covered, have you ever sold a car privately before? With some help, I will be less confused. is the basis of the valuation trait you, condition or historic provenance? Getting there. Paul.
  15. Mmm, I've been around Caterham and Lotus Sevens since I bought my first Lotus in 1986, and I still can't make out exactly what you are trying to sell Higgy. Is it a S3 Lotus, or an early Caterham or a BDA HPC or what? Do I take it that English isn't your first language? Do you want to try and give us some meaningful information, although, I suspect that you may have blown your chance of selling it on here, maybe try Pistonheads or chance it on Ebay. I'd be interested to hear about your other cars, anything interesting?
  16. Sorry, did I miss something? What year is it and is it a Lotus or a Caterham? A little more information and history wouldn't go amiss either, it might also help you to actually find a buyer too.
  17. Yep, certainly from a Rover, let us know if it a 600 one, for future reference.
  18. I couldn't help but pay attention when you mentioned the battery position as I did this exact same mod to an HPC I built back in '91/92, and just wondered if it could be my old car, which I think was red / ali one, at the time, though could be quite different now? I hope you sort out the clicking problem, it sounds as if it could be fuel pump related as there aren't any solenoids in that area, which do cause clicking sometimes.
  19. I've used spacers on the back of my CSR in the past. The rear wheels and tyres are huge and not alway available, so I sometimes use a set of standard 15" wheels, which disappear into the arches, and the spacers do make them look a little better. You will need longer studs though, as JK suggested. An easy job to do, once you have the hubs off - 200 lbs/ft from memory!
  20. I can't help wondering if the 'bag of bolts' on the overrun only happens with Duratec engines? I have had several BGH modified 5 speed boxes in the past, bolted behind Vauxhall 16v engines, and had no noise whatsoever, I then put one onto a 2.3 Duratec in a CSR and it was a little noisy, I have done the same again and it is even noisier on the overrun, yes it is a bag of bolts alright and bloody annoying, although Chris at BGH Geartec says that there is nothing wrong, TADTS! Maybe it is more common than I thought?
  21. Chris, seeing as you think you now need a 6 speed, you may consider the one I am selling. It is an unused Caterham 6 speed box, supplied with a 2.3 Duratec input shaft, which may or may not fit your engine. It is still boxed and guaranteed unused. I am after £2,000, sorry no offers. BM me if interested. Paul.
  22. What is this 'over run noise' that AndrewB mentions? What causes it and have SPC actually eliminated it?
  23. OK, thanks, I'm specifically after a pair of inertia reel belts. I'm sure they will sell quickly though.
  24. I'll have a look, thanks Ian. In the meantime if any Seveners have a pair they don't want, do get in touch.
  25. I currently have a couple of Stunner Scudo tyres and need two more to make up a useable set. Failing that, does anyone have a pair of reasonably soft, 195/50/15 tyres with a reasonable amount of tread, that is suitable for a Seven please?
