  1. Just read Motorsport News - Well done Paul
  2. Hi Arnie, I'll take a pair and will phone tomorrow for a chat
  3. Thank you all for this very useful information . I will be online late tonight and may have a few more qustions.
  4. Is the pressure sensor there too Paul? & how easy is the hose to work with?
  5. Anyone who has done this have pictures of the installation and advice on plumbing? A quick search has turned up Alan's old thread from which I can see that several Vx's are running with remote filters. My chassis is circa 1995 with the catch tank bracket on the RHS and I also have an oil cooler which is currently situated in the return to the dry sump tank. Although space is a bit tight between the bracket & steering column, I cant really see anywhere else apart from onto this bracket to fit a filter & housing without impeding engine removal/insertion. Many thanks for your replies .
  6. Does anyone have a source for spare eaziup components? I have managed to damage a couple of the 46" diagonals of my bulk buy Speed Shelter. Many thanks for any information.
  7. Does anyone know the thread size of the socket in the casting supporting the oil filter and into which the oil pressure sender screws? The broken VDO sensor currently in situ has what looks like an M10 thread but is itself screwed into a brass adaptor with a thicker coarser thread.

    SEMSEC

For those not in the know, SEMSEC provided up to 3 practices and 5 races for willing competitors last Saturday . The next events are at Brands on Sept 10th & Lydden on Oct 22nd.
  9. You can pull it straight with a large ratchet tie down strap quite easily, slide a long bar under the axle stand feet first and loop the strap around it.
  10. Darren I think Griff might know this.
  11. Hi Dom, You could try Steve Hirst at GWR racing in Swindon 01793527373. Congrats on the results this season btw.
  12. Dont know what final drive and diff you are running Mike but the 235 Kumhos have a smaller rolling radius than the CR500 rears - in fact your car will feel noticeably shorter geared so they may not be as suitable for touring. IMO the med compound Kumho is a brilliant tyre for the circuits which I have used for several years and order from Mel Williams).
  13. Lol Paul - but you have made a very big splash in a much bigger pond this year - congrats on the times and results
  14. " class="smiley" />If anyone in the South East is looking for an event in which to compete on Saturday 4th June SEMSEC is running one of its regular meetings at Lydden. These days are very efficiently run, and so particularly good if you have limited spare time. I was lucky enough to have three practices and four races in a single afternoon on Sunday<img class='"smiley"' alt='"big' src='"images/smilies/biggrin.gif"' data-cke-saved-src="" smiley"="" grin="">. Entries have been low so far this year and new or returning drivers will be made very welcome.
  15. *wavey*If anyone in the South East is looking for an alternative event in which to compete on Saturday 4th June SEMSEC is running one of its regular meetings at Lydden. These days are very efficiently run, and so particularly good if you have limited spare time. I was lucky enough to have three practices and four races in a single afternoon on Sunday. Entries have been low so far this year and new or returning drivers will be made very welcome.
  16. Thanks for the feedback both on & offline (great idea & pics Kevin) . My gearbox mounting bracket has been modified a little to allow the box to sit a little lower in the chassis and so I am loath to raise the engine (even though I have the mag camcover casting). Anyone apart from Graham have experience of using a low line dry sump pan & removing the lowest part of the bellhousing - which looks like it could gain me an inch 😳 whilst still protecting the flywheel? 17. It is Dave Hersey's car. He sprints in the South East and competes regularly at Brands & Lydden in the TWMC % SEMSEC sprint series (he won the TWMC championship in 2009). L7 FUN
  18. My beautiful Swindon engined Vx is dry sumped with an external dry sump tank and Caterham wet sump pan. I use a small (233mm) lightweight flywheel with a 5.5" AP twin plate clutch operated by hydraulic piston & contained within a Caterham wet sump bellhousing and am very happy with this set up (clutch & flywheel copied off Dave K ). AYK the Caterham wet sump pan is deep with fins deepening towards the bellhousing which protect both the bellhousing and the standard diameter flywheels. I no longer drive my car otr and have progressed during the past decade through track days to sprints and, for the last couple of years, circuit racing. During this time the cars ride height has gradually decreased so that now max ground clearance at the junction betwen the sump pan & bellhousing is only 46mm - too low for curb hopping even with stiffly sprung suspension . I am now looking at shallow dry sump pans (in particular SBD) and modifying or replacing the bellhousing to imrove ground clearance. Can anyone share their experience of the various dry sump pans available? & has anyone modded their bellhousing (ISTR Chelspeed had removed the bottom of his bellhousing for this reason). L7 FUN

Yes please Andrew YHM L7 FUN
  20. Hi Mark, If this is the long strand glass from your bulk buy I will take it L7 FUN
  21. My engine goes back in early next week & you are welcome to have my hoist as soon as it is free. L7 FUN
  22. Taffy IMO you should use the CTG prop with your new seq box (I know that they have drawings & specs for S3 chassis). It is a much higher spec item than standard and will reduce the shock loading associated with your transmission. I have used one for several years with no issues after suffering a prop failure and have recently seen another prop failure similar to mine in a CSR race car with seq box. L7 FUN
