  4. I'm quite happy with a superclutch supplied hydraulic slave situated within the wet sump bellhousing (mind you I do check & change the seals regularly) and have been running with it for several years with no problems L7 FUN
  5. Thank you both - more food for thought L7 FUN
  6. I could be interested in this - but only if it will fit (I have a feeling that someone offered one up to a car with Swindon trumpets like mine and found that it fouled on the osf wingstay). Will you be at Curborough Dave? L7 FUN
  7. Mark could you please email an entry form to me at p7hpc@aol.com? Many thanks, Paul L7 FUN
  8. As Roger said I think they believe that it is a maintenance issue. Anyway there are many Caterhams racing this year with seq boxes so time will tell. L7 FUN
  9. My failure was very similar to this but worse. The prop & uj burst through the ali skin and almost through my foam seat. The reverse sleeve yoke and prop nose were so badly damaged that it literally looked as though a grenade had gone off inside the uj.The prop nose was split open and jammed in the tail of the gearbox which required replacing. The failure occurred at some speed and the resulting flailing & vibration badly damaged several tunnel chassis members & the diff mounts. I limped for a couple of weeks and In retrospect was very lucky not to be badly hurt. Unfortunately I don't know how to upload the pics taken at Llandow but they should be easy to find searching blatchat. The failed prop was low mileage standard spec with only a seasons use. I was running the seq. gearbox with a small twin plate clutch & slicks. When the chassis was repaired the diff mountings were reinforced and the spec of the rear bulkhead chassis members improved. A substantial steel plate inside the tunnel now protects my hip & thigh. I installed a Geartronics flatshift (on Swindons recommendation) and now run a composit prop from CTG (if you want an alternative I believe that Arnie has a cush drive & uprated ujs). Touch wood I have had no problems since. L7 FUN
  10. Banzai 😶‍🌫️ (ps thanks again for the trouble you took with the tyres) L7 FUN
  11. It was a great couple of days . A fast but tight & technical circuit with some stunning drives put in on Saturday from Simon & Adrian . Sorry I had rush off so early but hope to see you all again later in the year. Hi David, could you blatmail me about the tyres? L7 FUN
  12. OPL was excellent at Cadwell and made for a very relaxing day with almost unlimited track time available . Many thanks once again to Geoff & his team Roger, having been told yesterday how you stop your helmet from getting smelly I really didn't need to discover today how you excercise your sphincter 😳 You can have too much information you know > L7 FUN
  13. I had assumed that you were using a set of specially imported extra super soft rain compound Kumhos at Llys y Fran Mark Thank you Mel & Simon - the tyres arrived today & hopefully I'll get them fitted tomorrow ready for Saturday L7 FUN Edited by - Paul Gibb on 24 Apr 2008 19:01:47
  14. Dont worry too much Simon. If the tyres are n/a I will run my med rears on Sat with last years soft 215's on the front. L7 FUN
  15. Should I be worrying that no 215 softs have arrived yet? L7 FUN
  16. Just seen these posts Anthony and am very sorry to hear the bad news ☹️ I know the care that you have taken with this car and IMO it would have been the ultimate 7. All the best & good luck with the sale L7 FUN
  17. Thank you Mark, Simon & Mel, I already have a pair of soft 235's on order and will also need a pair of soft 215's until the wider tyres become available. L7 FUN
  18. Picked up my Vx from Powerspeed today having had a similar system fabricated . It has been designed to allow for the option of running either with the large side can alone (now exiting via a rear exhaust) - or when necessary with the side can connected to the additional underslung rear can as on Marks car. Although I have had time for only a very quick inspection so far this evening the quality looks very good and Dave was great to deal with . As far as I can see the only potential issue is ground clearance if kerb hopping left hand chicanes . Should have some noise info by the end of the month when the car is running. L7 FUN
  19. Stuart, Don't worry, you have not bought a pup. Slipperman is obviously & understandably still feeling very sore after his wheel failure at Rockingham. If these cars are driven regularly on track things will break. Over the years I have broken practically everything on my various sevens at various times (including engine mtg brkts, engine, alternator& strap, clutch, gearbox, prop, diff mtgs, diff bolts & chassis) but never an MB wheel. These wheels are very light but they do need looking after. At the very least a visual inspection after use (not made easier by the powdercoating & paint on road wheels) and annual crack testing & refurb (as described on MB's website). Keith is a very fast driver who has done many hundreds of miles on track with these wheels. It is very unfortunate that his mag centre broke but I have seen wheel failures with other types & makes of wheel including those with alloy centres. Maintenance is an issue with the R500 wheels, and particularly so when they pass through several pairs of hands in the second hand market. My advice (if you want it) take the wheels to Mike B for a crack test (removing powder & paint) & refurb this off season and enjoy them on track this year. 20. Hello Mark , As usual I am planning to do most of the sprints this year but will probably end up doing only two or three . Hope to see you at Goodwood but a bit worried about the noise my car makes ticking over . Simon , Mrs gibb says that Mel is all mouth and no trousers bit like me really which is probably why she finds him so attractive 😳 🥰. L7 FUN
