    Scoring proposals

I don't agree that record based scoring is preferable because it is too open to other factors. I think that Richard's method would knock out the vagaries of future rule changes as well as weather factors etc, as long as the winner of each class is rewarded correctly according to the level of competition they face. I also prefer it to the next best method in my opinion, which is Mark's, which would more likely produce a tie even with the countback. Most of our classes have the potential for someone to win 7 or 8 events including both Curboroughs. Richard's method means that class records can remain in place, but they become less significant. The possibility of being in the title hunt and then finding your final counting event is going to be wet, for example, would be pretty unsatisfactory. The benefits of this method are: One set of scores for class and overall, which are fairly easily calculated. No unrealisticly high scores due to a lack of competition No more failure to recognise good performances in difficult conditions. All events feature in the overall championship (instead of just 7 last season). New events can be put on the calendar without impacting the overall championship

    Scoring proposals

Firstly, thanks to those who have made proposals. I think that Richard's socring proposal has the most merit. The method has many advantages and few disadvantages that I can see. The only issue with it in practice would be where the second placed competitor in a class is really uncompetitive, i.e. it might be a super quick driver vs a novice, therefore making maximum points easy to come by for the winner. To combat that, the maximum score that is acheieveable would have to be limited to 100 if the second placed competitor in class is unable to get within a particular distance of the winner. Oli

    Internal Panels

I'm after one for a metric chassis so also interested if that's what you are asking about Steve. If I recall correctly, Arch said they could fit it if I could get it to them, which would be easier than me doing it. They can do imperial straight away.
  4. Legend - thanks Simon. My sticker was lost when it went for powdercoating, so you've saved me a call.
  5. Simon, You make some good thought provoking points there. Who’d have thought? ;) It seems to me that we have three options: 1) Keep all classes as road-going, limiting classes 3-6 to the new and perhaps only temporarily permitted 1B tyres on the new list. 2) Allow classes 3-6 to be run as mod-prod on 1C tyres, but, to enable inclusiveness and new entrants, create a rule that cars in those classes remain in road-going spec physically even if not taxed and MOTd. 3) Go mod-prod all the way, giving freedom to modify cars to the extent permitted by the rules. All have their pros and cons, but it seems to me that the third option should be excluded on the grounds that our championship is primarily for road-going cars. Oli
  6. Thanks Paul, I thought they'd say that and it makes reasonable sense in the circumstances, I guess.
  7. As above, for sale are two tickets to see the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs battle it out at Wembley on the 1st November. These are part of my season ticket but I've other plans that day so they are for sale for face value, £36 each. The seats are in block 531 to the extent that it matters at Wembley, which has good views everywhere. I'll post the tickets for free to the buyer. Any questions please ask. Oli
  8. I agree with all that Richard. I guess some might be put off by the fact that we use specialist tyres at the moment and could be tempted in without them. I recall a few saying so in the survey that Matthew did when he took over the Comp Sec role.
  9. Some championships require an MSA log book in their own champ regs AFAIK. The Midland HIllclimb being the example I'm thinking of. Just a thought about tyres, it might be worth considering that some drivers will compete in other non L7C events next year, where only List 1A and 1B will be permitted. So IF the club choose to go to mod prod (in name even if still in roadgoing trim but with 1C tyres) in class 3 and above then that may have an impact. Oli
  10. Good read, thanks for posting!

    Helmets

Hi Clive, I made that decision last year and have not regretted it. It's quite comfortable and easy to get used to so worth the changeover for the added safety benefits.

Only if running in Mod Prod though Clive.
  13. I concur with all of the above. Thanks for your hard work fellas!
  14. Oi Jon, Don't go accusing me of being an expert! ;) I'm glad to hear you've enjoyed your first year of the championship. It might feel like a steep learning curve sometimes, but it's well worth it on so many levels. And fancy mentioning the rugby again, just as I'd forgotten about it and ordered my Wales scarf.

    Anglesey

I think I would be unlikely to go if it remains a two lapper on both days AND the BSC are there too AND the entry list is 130. It just doesn't work on a practical level, even though the runs are a lot of fun. There is too much waiting around and too much frustration as a result (although good banter as ever amongst us lot!). It is also a bit of a tyre killer. Thankfully, my ZZRs are at the end of their life anyway but if the event was in early or mid season as a two lapper, I'd think twice. Last year we had 2+4 runs on Saturday and then 2+3 runs on Sunday, which was far better in my view. I fear the (usually excellent) LMC may strive to run it again as they did this weekend, judging by the conclusion of the hand count on Sunday morning.

    Anglesey

Yes, Nigel said it worked brilliantly when there were just 80 or so competitors.

    Anglesey

Absolutely Nigel. Top marks to everyone who tried to make it work, but I don't think it did, for anybody. One timed run is simply not enough, especially where a championship could be decided by that one run. I think a view from the Comp Sec would be a good idea, as Richard suggested today.
  18. Chaps, Won't the blue book need to be changed (S.11.6.2) to allow 1C tyres, unless we go for Mod Prod based regulations in classes 3 and up? Oli
  19. Well spotted Alan. I'll try and make sense of that when my ales have worn off tomorrow!
  20. Andrew - thanks; you must be right as Grahame is not on the entry list as far as I can see. So, G&H can be taken off the list. Paul, thanks for organising! Can I have whitebait, followed by scampi and chips please? And a TV with the rugby on nearby?
