    You're better than that Geoff!

    Class 3 tyres

I'd wait a bit yet, and see how it looks towards the start of the season.

    St Goueno

Hi all, The date has now been announced as the 27-29th of May 2016 and entries will be open soon. I will post as soon as I hear anything on that front, so please keep your eyes peeled on this thread. Note that the date does not interfere with any L7C provisional dates, although it would make for a busy period if you were to go to events for three weekends in a row. Oli

    Awards lunch thanks

Paul et al, Thanks very much for organising the awards lunch, which was very enjoyable and rather tasty too. Thanks also for all of your hard work during the year. It is much appreciated. Oli

    Thanks Grahame, will do.

    Scoring proposals

I'm with Mark too, and if it's still a tie, then we could have a one off trailer race or a drinking competition to decide it. Or, just have more than one winner. I don't think that would be the end of the world.

The trouble with points from 10 to 1 is that you have no idea by how much people beat each other. With percentage scoring, you do.

    List 1a tyres

Longy, It's the Yokohama A539 and the sizes according to their website at 195/45/14 and 185/50/14 for 14 inch rims. Hope that helps. Oli

    Class and tyres debate

My tyres are pretty much at the end of their life, so I'll go with the flow. But I think we should be on 1Bs. A 175 class 3 would not be a good thing.

    Class and tyres debate

Having said earlier that I think 5 and up ought to be mod-prod, I've taken Nigel and others' points in to consideration and changed my mind. I'm now going to say I'd prefer all but class 7 to stay as roadgoing classes - for the reason of inclusiveness and parity with other championships.

    Class and tyres debate

I would also support a 210bhp class 4; 5 and 6 being merged to provide more competition; classes 5 and upwards going mod prod; and 4 and below continuing as roadgoing on List 1Bs. I'm agnostic about class 7 compounds, but would sway to voting against that for reasons of inclusiveness. Oli

Don't forget you need a FHR and extinguisher for French hills too. Regs on the website.

    St Goueno

Excellent chaps. I understand the number of entries is lower this year so it'll be a case of getting in quickly if we're going to do it. I'll let you know as soon as I see the date posted, but keep an eye on the hillclimb France website too. I think the regs follow those in the UK so I don't yet know whether the ZZRs will be permitted. We'll see on that. If there are a few of us then we could look into hiring a gite for the weekend maybe?

    St Goueno

Hi all, A quick mention that the St Goueno date is to be announced soon. If anyone is interested in going can you let me know here? I started a thread about it last year but it didn't happen. I still quite fancy it though.

    Which 1b tyre

I'm not sure I know, but I think the ZZS will probably the best all round tyre, for all conditions, if not the best in the dry. Some research required here I think.
  17. Longy, Excellent, it'll be good to see you again. As above, but I think a Sigma fits in to Class 1 doesn't it? If you go to Comp Corner you'll see information down the left hand side, including the intro to sprinting slides. You can also see the regs that applied this season, although they are subject to change. It'll be best to wait until the regs are finalised to see what's what. Oli

That is a potential issue for sure, which also concerns me. But I guess it's not that likely is it?

All good points Lynn. I think I'm coming towards my final view on this topic - i.e. Mark's proposal.

    Scoring proposals

Right, I've done some personal calculations using RIchard's proposed method and historic scoring and am less sure it would work to reward the best driver in the championship, since some classes are not so well supported and it begins to get overly complicated when trying to find a way to make it work. Ultimately, everyone needs to understand and be on board with the scoring method for the overall. I therefore wonder whether Mark's proposed method could be used whilst incorporating Chris's proposal to limit the points available in lesser supported classes? The challenge then is to get all of the classes to be popular so that some drivers don't miss out.

    Class and tyres debate

If 2 and 3 were to be merged then I would merge them on to 1B tyres, since that is what Caterham sells cars on.

    Class and tyres debate

Rob, I don't know but I'm not sure many of us in class 3 would want to split the class. Richard would be prepared to go with 1b tyres, as would I. Can any other class 3ers comment? I personally don't know whether any power limits ought to be changed.
  23. OK Simon, here we go... I think the class structure is pretty much alright and that we ought to make minimal changes. I will likely go with Alan's proposal number 1 but think that class 5 should probably also go mod-prod, as per David's proposal number 9. So, 1,2,3,4 to be road-going, 5,6,7 to be mod-prod.

    Scoring proposals

Simon - I think with Richard's proposed method that driver 1 would not be the overall winner because he/she would not be able to score more than 100 points at each event unless they have good competition. If they compete on their own then they can't score more than 100 at each event and, equally, as I propose, if the competition is not close enough (say within 99%) then no more than 100 can be scored. The biggest drawback actually will probably be the headaches that Mr B would suffer trying to calculate it all! Maybe simplicity would be better. David - I reckon you probably tried quite hard that year, and does it matter that you only drive as quickly as you need to? I don't think anyone would be put off going for records regardless of scoring method.
  25. Also agree, but can we have a specific thread for class structure discussion as Simon suggests, to keep it all in one place?
