  1. Over-tyred is an interesting concept, but what exactly does it mean?
  2. When you fill a new battery with acid is doesn't need charging, it will work straight away.
  3. Hi Kenny, I'll take the seat please, mail me your details and I'll arrange to collect it. Thanks, Nige.
  4. If you mean you want to enter a few Lotus 7 championship rounds, then you need to enter the championship. Most events are organised by local clubs, and we, (L7 club) are invited to enter. At these events you need to be able to produce your championship entry card. The Curborough L7 rounds are organised by the club and open to all. So I think the answer is yes, you need to enter the championship to do a few L7 rounds.
  5. Some of my sockets also don't fit, I use the one from the Halfords pro socket set as well.
  6. Martin, Sorry, to hear this, I will do my best to uphold the Zetec honour. Have a good Summer and keep in touch. Nigel.
  7. The Fox goes free sounds good to me. 😬
  8. There is no requirement for large diameter conductors, as the current flow for battery condition maintenance is low. I would suggest the sort of cable used on a table lamp would be more than adequate.
  9. Make up a 12 volt extension to your charger and keep the charger and all 240V stuff indoors. If you use Optimate, cut off the waterproof plug they give you and make a long extension lead with crocs.
  10. Had my BJ A max converted professionally lasy year. Roof is translucent glass fibre. Floor and rear door/ramp made from some sort of industrial plywood. Frame is a mixture of welded steel and aluminium extrusions with stainless steel fixings. Walls smooth white plastic foam filled board. 5 foot high inside, front personell door, internal tyre rack and shelf. Electric winch powered by starter pack via anderson plug. Trailer is totally waterproof and car can be stored in it all tear if required, Cost was 3 grand plus the winch. As pictured here, these are the builders. http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1126402.htm
  11. Can't advise on the relative merits of these tyres, however, I would suggest you try and use the same as others. It's one less variable to consider when you try and understand the difference between your performance, and others. For example it could be engine performance, suspension, driver......but you know it's not tyres.
  12. I use one of these; Clarke CTJ1250A - 1¼ Tonne Aluminium Trolley Jack. About 90 quid from machine mart, nice and low, I'm sure you'll find one on ebay cheaper. Torque wrench, I got a Draper one for Christmas last year which is nice.
  13. I don't think the current front uprights have any Sierra parentage. All uprights start as the same forging, the later ones are machined to a smaller diameter (to fit the ball joint), than the earlier ones that are machined for the trunnion. Early uprights can be remachined and threaded to fit ball joint wishbones.
  14. I think I have seen newish MX5's and VW beetles without roll over protection, so I suspect it isn't required.
  15. Try Richard (RiF) http://www.carbon-bits.com/ for big heads, Dartford composites for wing.
  16. Available from Raceline http://www.racelineonline.co.uk/products/part_section.asp?SectionID=45&CategoryID=2
  17. DCR - Dead Crow Racing, has a certain ring to it, I can almost visualise the decals.
  18. I think (from schoolboy physics), that aluminium has a higher coefficient of expansion than steel. This means that the tapped hole in the cylinder head will increase in diameter more than the steel of the spark plug as the temperature is increased. I would suggest therefore that it should be easier to get the plug out when hot.

    Number Swap

Don't forget that you need numbers on the front as well at Loton.
  20. It's worse than you think. The wheel bearing failed at Anglesey, Pembrey was the steering column failure. Hope you get home soon, see you at Loton.
  21. I also won't be driving on Sunday due to being too far down the resrve list. 🙆🏻 I will giving the rebuilt car a run on Saturday. Sunday I'll take some pics and lurk with Mr Snoates.
  22. Have a look at this posted 17th Feb this year, don't know how to post a link. Best answer was buy some black ones from Europa. "Is there any way I can stain my stainless bonnet catches black?"
  23. I thought four 4's should be worth eight 2's.
