  1. Simon, Further to email on Friday my address is forwarded in that message. My computer has packed up, so using one at work that won't access my email, but happily can still reach blatchat. Chhers. Nigel.
  2. Hi Martin Hope to be finished by the end of the week, new long front, side panels, scuttle etc from Arch. New suspension, rack, anti roll bar, dampers all fitted. (Chassis updated with latest rack and suspension mountings). Engine (with new water pump and second hand alternator) and gearbox are in. New Radtec radiator fitted. Body work going on, black self coloured glass fibre from Dartford composites plus RiF front cycle wings to cover 215 fronts. Luckily my new RiF front wings and new MB wheels were not fitted on the fateful day. Intending to send entries in for Harewood and Loton this week once I'm certain there no hidden suprises.
  3. Also spotted parked at toll road services. Very smart.
  4. Les, Unfortunately I'm not going. I've mailed you Martin's mobile number.
  5. Martin is already at Curborough, saw him going the other way on the M6 last night.
  6. A good ratio to use is the 3.89:1 (35 teeth on crownwheel 9 on pinion). This is the Mk1 escort (on 12" wheels ratio). It has the advantage of being common and therefore cheap, you'll find one on ebay. 10mph per 1000revs is a ridiculously low ratio, I suspect that there is something wrong with your measurements.
  7. I think the timing strut belongs to Paul Forster.
  8. Tree hugging is in fashion, just be more gentle.
  9. Mark, unfortunately will now be missing some rounds, this is a copy of my previous post slightly modified. Why not compile all info. into one document and occasionally publish it so people can print ot off and we know who might have what. Cheers, Nige. I intend to have the following in my trailer at speed championship events this year. If you want it, it's yours. If drive to event people want their own smallish bits carried, there's room if you request/provide them. Sorry not enough room for a De-dion axle. Replacements 3.89:1 open Ford English differential. English half shaft, built up with bearing/seal etc. Battery lead 12” with crimped lugs for bolts. Anderson plug with flying leads for permanent connection of battery pack. Radiator cap. 4x60 degree metric wheel nuts. Barnby metric nuts. Dash toggle switches. Fuel pump (non injection) Consumables 5/40 Halfords motorsport engine oil

Thanks for all the messages and offers of help. Skydragon I would agree that open cars and wooden cattle fencing are not a good mix, it's unlikely I will return to Oliver's Mount! Car will be stripped tomorrow and delivered to Arch on Friday. Intention is to have all chassis repairs including replacement scuttle and bonnet done at Arch. I already had some unfitted RiF front wings, so will be completing the set with nose and rear wings from Richard. Also already have a new rack, will be ordering new wishbones from Caterham and anti roll bar from Freestyle. Luckily my brand new set of MB wheels and supersoft tyres was not on the car. The front wheels both look rather sad, the whole lot are going back to MB for a refurb. Not sure what pedal box I need, mine is older than most people's, but I need to confirm with Arch what I need, as that section of chassis needs repair or replacement. Will be in touch with Simon Rogers for rear wing fixings. Thanks again for offers, will be in touch if I need to take you up on them. Hope the Welsh weekend went well, was thinking about you all. Cheers, Nigel.

Thanks for all the support. I've had the chance to think things over and look at the car a bit more, although it's still inside the trailer where it was manhandled by a dozen marshalls. Damage to the car appears to be limited to forward of the bulkhead apart from the passenger side exit wound. Requires 4 wishbones, dampers, rack, alternator and brackets, radiator, air filters, pedal box, bonnet, all bodywork, front wheels, wing stays, lights, chassis long front and side panels. Not sure about the uprights, brakes, hubs etc. Engine looks OK, timing belt is still on but will be replaced. Plan is; strip car in RSM workshop (Morecambe) on Monday. 11th transport chassis to Arch on Friday, 15th, 2 week turn around Work through the pile of scrap to identify what can be repaired or reused. Order new parts. Rebuild in time for Pembrey. See you there. Thanks again.

Thanks everyone for the messages and offers of support. I'll take a couple of days thinking about the best way forward. I intend to be back competing ASAP in either a repaired or possibly a different car. Thanks again.

Had a big off today at Oliver's Mount when I took out a length of substantial wooden fencing at high speed. I was unscathed but a piece of fence entered the cockpit through the bulkhead above the passenger footwell, and exited through the side panel above the exhaust. The car is totalled, so unfortunately I won't been in Wales next weekend.

  16. Forms go straight to MAC at Shelsley.
  17. Try RSM in Morecambe, run by Dave Harwood. They run Mallock clubman cars and formula fords among other things. Very competitive workshop rates, also excellent at diagnosing handling problems. www.rsmmotorsport.co.uk
  18. July 19th at Llys-y-fran is not a round of the Lotus 7 speed championship.
  19. Just bought some parts from Richard in France (RiF), in my opinion you need look no further. Whats more he isn't in France! Search on here for RiF. Top blke
  20. Flasher should be in a clip behind the bottom left corner of the dash, ie above the passengers left knee. Hazard flasher will be next to it.

    Bolts!

Clearly these scrutineers havn't been doing their jobs properly. 😳

    Bolts!

Point taken Peter, will change my stainless bolts fot HT tomorrow.

    Bolts!

When you have got this apart, weld (or have welded) mild steel nuts to the seat brackets, then refit seats with bolts inserted from underneath the car. The exposed thread is then inside the car. Also means you don't have to reach down the back of the seat with a spanner.I would still use stainless bolts and copperslip as advised.
