  1. IIRC, I paid £475 for a full service (parts & labour) plus valet - came back like new. Just sent a Girard Perregaux Vintage (simple mechanical movement) to Watches of Switzerland for a service. They sent it to GP and they came back with a quote of £1,303 for the service, £264 for a new glass, £326 for a new leather strap, and 16 weeks to do ☹️ 😔 In 2004 WoS charged £545 for the service and strap. Someone's taking the proverbial...
  2. Now Sold and on its way to the Isle of Man. Thanks for the interest and offers of delivery.
  3. Quoting mav: Should I come up tomorrow Mike? Unfortunately I'm not there tomorrow, they're with JHR, the race team
  4. Mav Yes, and testing there tomorrow. Paul (Ruff) If you can get me that 2.7RS you can have the watch 😬
  5. Like them or not, Rolex watches are tough, dependable and better than currency in many parts of the world. And each one I've owned has appreciated in value. Anyway, I've decided to sell my Explorer II - Bought new by me from my local Rolex Authorised Dealer, in France, in 2002 - Model 16570 with white dial - Similar to this here - One of the more tasteful and practical models - Only worn occasionally, and fully serviced by Rolex in the UK in January 2013 - Fully valeted and unworn since (still has its protective stickers) - All invoices, paperwork, documents, accessories and boxes Current value c.£3,500. New replacement cost c.£5,000. Virtually like new £2,950 Now Sold Edited by - Mike C. on 29 May 2013 09:37:24

Hi Paul Hope you're well. I had a stunning R300, sold when we started Ginetta racing. Might be worth asking on Chit Chat or For Sale, as I'm not sure how many people visit Wanted. Looking forward to TT? Let me know if you can ever persuade Paul Kniveton to consider parting with his decaying 2.7RS . All the best.
  7. Sonos is quite clever but relies on the internet and wifi. Where I live we get a fairly patchy service, so not 100% reliable. Living Control is normally traditional hard-wired and totally reliable - digital v analogue
  8. Living Control Multi-Room Audio System (MRS) - Event Model With 6 Keypads and connections here here I had it professionally installed some years ago to provide audio around the house (from up to 6 sources). It was recently professionally removed to be replaced with Sonos. Although older technology, it works very well, and more reliable than Sonos. £280 (fraction of what it cost new). Quoting jackb_ms: which one is it? I think this is the one here Edited by - Mike C. on 9 Jan 2013 17:35:46
  15. Keen gardeners - clearing waste, making mulch, compost, whatever - you need one of these here See it in action on You Tube Ours is not he S, it has the vertical loading shute. We tend to use bigger industrial units for woodland management. This one is more for garden management. However still good, and the petrol engine is much better than the electric shredders. Think we paid £700 - looking for £395 (bargain ) Edited by - Mike C. on 17 Dec 2012 18:06:24

What adds more weight to the wheel - painting, powder coating, or no difference?
  17. Quoting Caterham Kid: Any age you like, but to go solo and to obtain your licence you need to pass a CAA Class 2 medical. Any age for a lesson with a Qualified Flying Instructor. 14 for time to be credited towards the licence syllabus. 16 to go solo. 17 to qualify for the licence privileges.
  18. Quoting zetec: How old can you go for helicopter lessons? & how old for Ppl This was my son, on his 16th birthday, earlier this year This was a world record. Edited by - Mike C. on 21 Sep 2012 21:58:22
  19. I thought that. Nice, original '74 2002 Tii with a 325i engine........ 🥰 Quicker than the scary 2002 Turbo
  20. I've driven it and it really is very nice. A few typically Italian eccentricities, but the size and lightness make it wonderful to hustle around country lanes. It is completely original, but the only thing I might change is the seats. I'd put a couple of rally seats in for a bit more lateral support in hard cornering, and maybe a harness. The price was advised by Lancia Owners Club. Think it's insurance value is higher. Finding another one like it would be difficult.
  21. Gusto, who used to frequent here, is thinking of selling his lovely Fulvia. He's interested in a classic Porsche, but would need to part with the HF, and wants to gauge interest. Details are: - Lancia Fulvia 1.6HF - 1972 - RHD - 74,000 mls - Super, original condition (ex-South Africa) - Full and interesting history - Red with black interior, HF and period decals - Prep'd by Omicron - the leading classic Lancia specialists - Guide price c.£19,995 Really pretty and fun to drive. Surely better than the building society contact gus@jacaranda.co.uk
  22. Very good CRT TVs. Nice looking, also here
  23. "If you drove one now with no nostalgia and no context how would it stack up against a modern cheap hot hatchback?" Very well, IMO. I bought a really nice 205 GTi a couple of years ago, and I was astonished how much fun it was - better in lots of ways than most of today's offerings. But, modern cars tend to have more comforts and conveniences for everyday use. So, I decided to see if there really is a current equivalent of the 205 GTi, and tried all the options. My conclusion was the Renaultsport Clio 200 Cup is the nearest - but you'd spent over £10k + for one. There seem to be two markets for the 205 GTi: - Those who want a 'future classic' - so the car needs to be immaculate, original, fsh, low mileage, etc, and these start around £3k ++. - Those who want a cheap, reliable, fun, run-around that will deliver lots of thrills for little money. These are £1-2k and, bought wisely and looked after, can be terrific value. See for an accurate summary. (ps - I did eventually swap mine for a Clio 200 Cup) Edited by - Mike C. on 19 May 2012 16:15:29
