    Powerful K's

You could buy my 2.0l Duratec and all the necessary installation parts for £6,500-£7,500 (depending on the installation solutions you choose). You'd then have a bullit proof 226bhp and plenty of scope to upgrade to 260bhp and beyond if you wanted to in future. Should it come to a rebuild at some point all the internals, block and head are standard Ford so very cheap to replace See For Sale Here R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  2. Ammo, The blatmail doesn't seem to be working, could you send it direct to mikeedgeuk AT hotmail DOT com thanks R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  3. Thanks Ammo, I'll have to ask Danny nicely if he'll exchange it for some more info on the S/C engine 😬 R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  4. Just checked it appears to be around 60mm diameter, even so that gives 16,700 revs at 7,500rmp engine speed so probably still too high ☹️ What size do you reccomend Ammo? And what component fails if you consistently running it too fast? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  5. Ammo, Yes Danny had mentioned that to me a a month or so ago when the first one went, I'm not sure what size pulley I have but think it's the same as Danny's - I'll ask Mick to confirm. cheers, Mike R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  6. bollox, looks like the new ones now gone after jist one trackday, same symptoms as before. This can't be right there's got to be a fault someone that's destroying the alternator somehow Any suggestions??? I'll have to chase Brise for a post mortem on the old one to see what the problem is and maybe what caused it. The other thing I've noticed is that my thermostat hosuing is leaking (from the filler cap) which is directly above the alternator. What would be the effectg of a bit of water getting into the alternator? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  7. Cheesemans? Speak to Raceline...... R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  8. With this pace of development I wonder how long it'll be before we see a >350bhp Duratec in an S3 chassis September maybe R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here Edited by - MikeE on 2 May 2007 13:59:11
  9. Rob I've tried this with a Carbon scoop which RiF made for me, I'm not convinced it's sufficient and so I'm going to go down a similar route to Danny (all the induction within the bonnet taking cold air from in front of the radiator) although I'm planning to combine this with a completely new induction set up on a new 2.3l engine... 10. Dave, Numpty question but seeing as I've now done >4,000 miles how do you check these for play? cheers R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here

    CSR Oil Temp

that's strange, Peter at Raceline told me I wouldn't need an oil cooler so I ran my 2.0l wetsump for 18 months with many trackdays without any temperature issues (never going above 100deg), have now fitted a dry sump and it runs even cooler. Having said that I'm told the new R400 comes with an oil cooler and that runs a very similar design wetsump to the Raceline one..... R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  12. I too need an airbox for a Raceline Throttle body set up - if anyone has an details then please post here or email me direct. Oh and contratulations Danny and Ammo, I look forward to a passenger ride sometime
  13. For a Numpty can someone go back to basics on this as I overheard a coversation at a trackday about the LSD possibly contributing to understeer while I was a Bedford autodrome last Friday - suffering from very frustrating amounts of understeer I have whatever diff was supplied with a 2004 R400 - it seems to suffer from high speed (80mph+) understeer even after trying various damper settings (Nitrons), front roll bar settings (Freestyle adjustable) and tyre pressure combinations - is it the lsd that maybe contributing to this under power and is so what do I need to do to dial it out? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  14. Great result, well done Ammo Danny shame the new engine couldn't have made it to Beford today, you'd have had the fastest car there - as it was that accolade went to me instead 😬 jeez those 300bhp Atoms are slow Well I was enjoying myself until I got thrown off by the noise police 🙆🏻 So now very interested in your airbox as well. cheers R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  15. Simon, It's not the damage to the rim that led me to that conclusion, it's the fact that the rear curved face of the dedion had been worn smooth - all the paint has been removed, I can't see that the odd stone would do that? I'll take anothe look next time I'm I'm under the car (probably sometime in 2009 then ) R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here

    Carbon repair....

I filled some holes in my rear wings with Halfords bumper repair - it was durable and the right colour. R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  17. Dave - the wheels came with the R400 kit in 2004 - by my reckoning it's Caterhams responsibility to make sure the kit they sold me has compatible components FFS R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  18. Ok well then that backs up my theory that it's a design problem and on that basis I don't see why the fcuk I should sort it out, I'll speak to CC and they can do it R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  19. I bought some spare 8 spoke 13" caterham wheels (the current R400 design) from F355 recently and Mark pointed out there was a bit of a score mark where presumably a stone had got caught between the de dion tube and the rim - well both Mark and I believed that to be the likely asnwer. So yesterday I removed my original 8 spoke 13" caterham wheels which were supplied new with my R400 in summer 2004 and I have the same score marks on both rear wheels and all the paints been removed from the De dion/ear along the curved edge. I can believe that a stone could get caught and gouge the wheel but don't think it would have simultaneously taken all the paint off the ear? The car's done 4,000 mile and probaly 3,000 of those on track, can it be that the de dion/ear/bub assembly has sufficient flex in it to allow the rim to touch the ear during heavy cornering? If so I reckon it's a bit of a design flaw. Before I raise the question to Caterham I'm interested in others experiences. R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  20. and the R400 uses the Raceline wetsump pan so should be no worries..... R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  21. yeah Mick's getting my old one repair so I too will have a spare. You going to make it to Bedford Danny? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  22. Picked up a new brise alternator yesterday (thanks Mick) and will fit at the weekend, hopefully this will resolve the problem. If it is the alternator and it failed at roughly the same mileage as Dannys (around 4,500 miles) then we need to find a way to make them last a bit longer. Racelines suggestion is that the heat from the exhaust maybe a problem and a heat blanket might help, they also think the solid mounting maybe a problem (shaking the diodes to destruction) but Mick thinks this is fine as that's what Cosworth do - any more opinions? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  23. I used a Halford mountain bike inner brake cable (£1.99 what a tight b@stard 😳) and used a small file to reduce slightly the size of the nipple so it fitted the throttle linkage. Having said that I haven't actually tried the car in anger (on track) yet so let's hope it doesn't snap first time out R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  24. Mic/Danny how much for a replacement alternator? cheers R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  25. Danny Where did you get it and how much, also how easy is it to repair? I'm doing bedford on 7th April with bookatrack (hopefully) are you going too? cheers R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
