  3. Ammo, Last year you gave us quite a bit of detail on DannyLTs engine (which I know Danny was ok about going public), so are you building anything even more extreme/exotic and if so can you share the details, expected power, costs etc - obviously don't mention the customers name but would liek to know what is the latest and greatest from you I see on that Macys site they're offerring a 2.5l 350bhp short engine R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  4. I have a set going in the for sale section here You'd probably want to respray them but I'm open to offers R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  5. Neil, you probably know this but I was told today that the 2.3l is now becoming difficult to get hold of - do you still have a supply as I'm finding it impossible to resist the temptation to upgrade so want to start collecting the bits R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here Edited by - MikeE on 20 Jan 2007 18:10:25
  6. ...anyone got a stock 2.3l going spare, after reading this thread it's definitely time to start collecting the bits I need for a serious upgrade R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here Edited by - MikeE on 20 Jan 2007 18:07:11
  7. OK I've spoken to Pete @ Raceline and his recommendation is a simple oil and filter change and clean and re-oil the air filter - that's it after 2,500 track miles R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  8. So as I'm a complete numpty with electrics can I persuade a local to give me a hand to debug the problem for a donation to Nuke the Luke 🤔 R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  9. Bit confused now, some say oil and filter changes only, others say a complete stripdown, new valve springs etc! So who's right Maybe I should just ask the engine builder (Peter @ Raceline) what he recommends? MS51LLE - we'll see who drive like Miss Daisey when you get your R400 😳 R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  10. Superlite one-piece wheels (similar to minilites) in yellow, very good condition, no scuffs. Will fit all Ford hub Caterham or Westfields Pictures here Four 7 * 13" with Avon ACB0 Slicks 7/21 * 13" Three tyres have 1-2mm 'tread' depth One tyre damaged (can provide part worn spare, see other advert) £200 or offers - buyer collects R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  11. O/T (on my own thread ) but is MS51LLE your number plate and if so where did you get it as I'm sure a fiend of mine had that on his Sagaris last year (although he's sold the car now) 🤔 R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  12. Oh how about airfilter (4,000 miles) and dry sump belt (around 1,000 track miles)? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  13. Thanks for the info So no plugs, belts or adjustments required? That does surprise me Danny - no limp-wristed 250bhp upgrade scheduled 😳 - when I do it it'll be a 280bhp 2.3l swap out for my current engine (or just build a new car) R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  14. For around a year now I've had an intermittent problem where the stack flashes up a low battery warning. It seems to be related to revs, ie. at low revs it doesn't do it but when I get to around 4,000 or above the warning flashes up. If I carry on driving it like this then eventually it'll drain the battery to the point that there's not even enough current to power the stack let alone the engine. I know the first port of call is to check the connections on the alternator, which I have done and after squeezing the female connectors tight this seems fine but the problem persists, what's the next think to check? Strangely, and I presume unrelated, today when I tried starting it (after charging the battery) it turned over fine but wouldn't catch, then I realised I couldn't hear the fuel pump so checked the fuse which was fine, I then wiggled the other fuses and realised that when I move the 'dipped beam' fuse the pump started again - so obviously the labels on the fuese bare no relation to their functions Can anyone help with this as electrics really aren't my strong point, I don't have a clue 😳 thanks R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  15. Simon, I did indeed buy a complete R400 kit minus engine, gearbox, exhaust and ECU from Caterham in June 2004 and fitted a Raceline 2.0l Duratec - was a very straightforward build, I'm sure Raceline or Raceco could supply you with the complete installation kit for a 2.3l 280bhp engine If you need anymore info let me know. BTW Spoke to Caterham at the autosport show yesterday and apparently the new R400 will start rolling off the production line in March/April. 16. My R400 with a Raceline 2.0l Duratec is now 2.5 years old and has covered 4,000 miles split approx 2,500 track, 1,500 road. The car has been serviced regularly by the Caterham factory but their service excludes the engine as it's not one of theres. So in the last 2.5 years I've carried out regular engine oil and filter changes but apart from that nothing else has been checked. Does anyone have a view on what might need replacing/checking/adjusting/tuning after this sort of usage? BTW During this period it's behaved faultlessly and continues to do so R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here

  18. I'm after a set of MB mag wheels, black centres with anodised rims in the usual R500 sizes and offsets. thanks, Mike R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here Edited by - MikeE on 14 Jan 2007 12:34:09
  19. and I think you'll find the fuel guage is pre-calibrated so you don't get the option of calibrating it yourself (at least it was on my R400)
  20. Oh bollox 😳 looks like I need to solder a couple of wires to the appropriate pins in the stack connector then. BTW I have a Duratec in my R400 so I won't have the oil pressure sender as fitted to R500s, but thanks for the info anyway Anyone know which pins I should be using on the stack connector? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  21. I've got a Stack dash on my 2004 R400 and recently bought the Stack external warning light which I want to mount in my line of sight as an early warning incase I loose oil pressure from the dry sump. So previously various blatchatters advised me that there should be a black and red twisted pair of wires behind the dash marked with A/L (for alarm I presume?). Anyway I've spent 30 minutes with my head in the footwell, having cut the tie wraps off the wiring which is now all over the place but I still can't find the wires *confused* (I do see the Stack external feed for the change up lights though - black and white wires feeding to the Sureshift box under the dash) Can anyone with a similar vintage r300/r400/r500 and an external warning light tell me what I should be looking for 🤔 thanks R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here Edited by - MikeE on 8 Apr 2006 14:25:48
  22. I know it's probably been asked a 1,000 times before but can't find it with a search. So what's the recommended pressures for 7.0 Avon ACB0 slicks? thanks R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  23. FFS I just told you they don't make them anymore *confused* 😬
  24. When I built my R400 in June 2004 CC were only selling a generic boot cover which was supposed to fit all but was a terrible fit (too deep as I don't have hood sticks - I have an SLR cage ) I had to get it modified to fit nicely....
