  1. Anyone had a problem with Duratec R500 indicators. Last year they became inconsistent sticking on or needing a couple of switch presses to activate, this year nothing working at all. Is this a common problem? Any solutions? Thanks

  4. Everything works but the clocks not one clock is working also the shift light system is dead but the lights, indicators wipers work and engine runs fine. It is not a stacks dash it is the normal clocks. I was driving the car when they stopped working. Where would you start looking?

  6. Has anyone fitted speakers to their seven? I used to use a sony mp3 speaker system that wedged just behind the drivers headrest. The ipod was bunjied to the harnesses which made it easy to control .OK below 70mph above forget it. Any other ideas?
  7. No doubt about it, the right road the right time the engine makes all the right noises no need for further entertainment. But long motorway run or stuck in traffic, a bit of music would break things up! Anybody got any suggestions for a mp3 player or sterio instalation in a seven?
  8. Thanks for all the suggestions! For me it is the loss of hearing sences with a helmet that I think numbs it, also wind in your hair is missing and vision is slightly impaired. Your ability to look round quickly is reduced due to the weight of the helmet. The wiley glasses and bandana with scarf approach is great exept for the hassle of getting it all ready to go, then the scarf drops and you end up with a bee down your throat! The paint ball mask would probably give me just about everything everything I am after, although the look would be a bit mad max!
  9. I had a phase of running may old caterham with out the screen just (deflector). I really enjoyed this with the wrap round glasses and scarf etc. but occasionally got shot by a 90mph Bee or a stone. I tried the Helmet but then you may as well have the screen back on as it insulates you too much from the experience. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions about what head wear would give the best compromise? Does anyone make a mask or somthing that protects but doesnt remove the experience?
  10. I have a noisey gearbox (6 speed) Does anyone have any experience with addatives? I have been told that Wynns could quieten it down. The box is most noisey when warm, so I suppose somthing that adds viscosity may work in theory.
  11. Does anyone know who makes the R500 sequential box? Anyone had a go with one?
  12. The first Caterham I ever had a go in was a well tuned crossflow, it cracked banged and spluttered, it had a fantastic induction and exaust noise. This added to the experience of the car. I was quite disappointed with the K series car I got as it did not quite have the soul of the crossflow. It did start and was 100% reliable though. I now have the new Duratec R400 minus the cat and it is the best of both worlds Crack bang flaming exaust, on the overrun. Its fantastic. I assume the mapping is not perfect and a little rich, I will not be adjusting it though!
  13. Charles Its the Aces sureshift 2 that came pre installed in my R400 kit. Simon
  14. John Have removed the radiator cowel and can confirm that the drivers footwell is cooler. I also noticed like coming through the foowell and found many places that needed sealing or gaffer tapeing. Simon R400 duratec
  15. I got the straight through pipe from caterham and fitted, putting the cat on one side not to be touched for 3 years. The noise is totally different, it reminds me of an old bigbore janspeed on a mk2 escourt. Compared to the noise with the cat on it is ten times better. I am also getting !ft blue flames between gears when thrapping it. I do not know whether it is faster but it sounds faster, it feels like a different car absolutly fantastic. Any R400 duratec owners this is highly recomended. Ditch the cat, you know it makes sence!
