  1. Rob I have the Titan pan but don't know the depth, however I'm certain that the lowest point is actually the bellhousing not the sump so nothing to be gain in terms of ground clearance by changing sump pans? cheers R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  2. Should have said I have a 2004 R400 with a home grown Duratec and a stack dash. Slipperman - my oil pressure sensor is in the raceline oil filter housing, it only has two spade connectors which are already used. As Stuart says I just want to wire upto the Stack as I then have an external (in my eyeline on the top of the cage) warning light for water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, low fuel and low voltage. all useful to know. I did take a look at the loom last year but its a bugger to get to from the footwell. Don't remember seeing an 'alarm' spade connector but if this does exist it'll be way easier than taking the connector apart so thanks Stuart R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  3. I have a standard R400/500 stack dash and bought an external warning light last year. I want to hook it up to the dash to give me an early warning should the dry sump belt go (or any other warning the dash might show). So does anyone know how to wire it? I believe you have to open up the multi-pin connector and solder it into a couple of spare pins but which ones? Or is there an easier way? thanks, R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  4. madmaninshed are you the guy who bought my raceline primaries last mont? If so you're welcome to come around again and have a go in my 2.3l R400 R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  5. As the title says I need to extend the airfilter bonnet cuttout so need to borrow the above for a couple of days. thanks in advance! R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  6. What's your plan Dave? You need the extra width for the Duratec power? If so what tyres would you run? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  7. anyone 🤔 🤔 R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  8. Don't know Dave but I do know that Mick Attree told me that the rears will will fit as are and the fronts will fit if you fit the CSR wingstays and wings. R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  9. Need to get the new 2.3l Duratec MOT'd but don't have the possibility to fit a catalyst for the MOT. Can anyone give me a clear indication of where I can go (reasonably locally) to be assured I'll pass the emmissions test if you see what I mean 😬 Happy that you mail me off line to save the innocent! Blatmail seems to be a bit unreliable for me so can you email me at mikeedgeuk AT hotmail DOT com thanks R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here Edited by - MikeE on 15 Sep 2007 12:32:09
  10. So the above comes to roughly £7K inc vat, add ECU and loom (£1K) and exhaust (£1K) then you're at £9K plus the inevitable other bits and pieces - so my £10K estimate was spot on 😬 R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  11. yeah had thought that and mentioned it to peter but he said the map wouldn't really vary much, will mentioned it on the day though. Danny has 3 maps and a switch on his ecu, I know he has a dry and wet weather map, don't know what the 3rd is for. The wet weather one reduces the torque to try and allow him to exist corners without spinning I think. R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here Edited by - MikeE on 7 Sep 2007 16:30:16
  12. thanks Adam, how are they on the grey area of emissions??? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  13. around £10K for engine, ancillaries, ECU (Emerald), exhaust, bellhousing but excluding gearbox That's a rough estimate for a 220bhp 2.0l based on my experience, I've done it twice now in 3 years 😬 R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here Edited by - MikeE on 7 Sep 2007 15:07:52
  14. Don't know yet as I just ran it at 2,000 - 2,500 rpm for 20 minutes while Peter tweaked a few parameters. Pland to tidy up the wiring and fit the uprated fuel pump on sumday then take it out for a 30 minute drive to make sue everythings ok. The mapping sessions booked for Thursday, then need an MOT (any local recommendations?), run it for 500 miles, change oil then back on track hopefully by early Oct R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  15. Now up and running, turns out that it was probably just the throttle pot that needed calibrating before it would start, not something I could do myself as I wasn't sent the emerald PC software CD for a K3 so couldn't set it. Peter C spent hours on my car checking everything out, tweaking the map and sorting my coolant issues - unbelievably generous givne I don't know Peter so again thank you very much for your help and advice R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  16. Peter, Thanks for the advice, like I said I'm really not that hot on wiring. I would really appreciate it if you could pop over and take a look, sure it would all be obvious to you! I'm actually in Fleet which is around 20mins from you I think. Could you give me a call on 07940 499924? thanks, R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  17. Peter According to my understanding of the Emerald wiring you provide a switch 12v supply to the ECU (fuel pump relay input) which I temporarily took from the feed to the inertia switch and the fuel pump output from the ECU loom is via the ECU fuel pump relay which I fed into the output lead on the inertia switch - why would this be wrong? Like I said I'm confused R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  18. Martin What's the alarm function? Brent What happened sunday?!?!?! R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  19. Ok a little more progress I wonder if the ecu didn't like not having the ecu fuel power supply and fuel pump outputs connected so I took the plug out of the inertial switch and wired up the ecu fuel pump supplies. The pump primed and then stopped (as you'd expect) i then started it and it fired up and ran for a second but died, turned off and on again and the same routine. So I think maybe the pumps not coming back on again but don't know why - maybe the ecus not recognising the engine running and so it doesn't switch the pump back on? Don't know but at least it fired! Any ideas? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  20. Ok have checked all four plugs and I'm getting a spark I've checked the fuel rail bleed screw and I'm getting fuel coming out when the pumps running I've checked all the ecu loom connectors on the engine and they seem fine The ECU light goes red and green when turning over the engine so it recognises the engines turning over I temporarily disconnected the throttle pot as instructed by Ammo and it still won't start! So what else to check: 1 - maybe the battery's just not upto it? 2 - maybe the map just won't work on my spec? anything else? Brent - any chance of trying your map to see if that helps? cheers R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  21. if I fail to get it started tonight then might be worth a try I'm wondering if turning it over last night without the ECU inignition feed connected fouled the plugs? Then when I connected the ignition and checked for a spark it was too late? How do I dry the plugs, I assume just taking them out and cleaning them isn't necessarily enough as there might be fuel in the cylinders or is this likely to have evapourated or seeped past the piston rings by now? R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  22. yep trailering it up but I did want to atleast drive it for 20 minutes before hand to iron out any issues with the install R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  23. Ammo said it has an 8 injector map on it already perhaps I should try your ECU Brent R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  24. Happened to look in the stack manual last night and in the trouble shooting section it suggests this is a symptom of electrical interference R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
  25. Brent The fuel pump whirrs continuously but then it always did haven't checked the plugs but maybe I should clean then up and try again don't think it's managed to catch at all in the 10 or so attempts I've made to start it, but then I did turn it over before I connected the ignistion relay so maybe by that point the plugs were fouled? Could do with some diagnostic tools (like a fuel pressure guage) and some expert help! R400 Duratec Build and Modification Pictures here
