  1. Ah, good point Graham - I'd read it as 261.1 cc/min not g/min. So they're 353cc/min which is pretty damned large, tho' maybe the R500 runs them at 3 bar not 3.5, so ~327cc/min. Some of my notes on this from the dim & distand past state that Injector ratings are usually quoted for N-heptane, though some Weber injectors are quoted for Exsol-d40 whatever that is. Needless to say these give slightly different figures, which are also slightly different from the figures you get for petrol. Ramble ramble... Mike
  2. Well the good news is that those 2 sets of figures tally! What fuel pressure does the R500 run at? If it's 3.5 bar then those injectors are only marginally big enough shirley? Mike
  3. It has been done. If Steve Day is around he may chip in... Mike
  4. A pair of Westfield "NITRO" shocks on EBay here. It's the second time they've been posted (no bids last time). Don't know if they could be made to fit a Caterham - or rather, whether it would be economical to make them fit a Caterham. You'll be pleased to know that they're "well new". 5. 21.5kg when fitted with AP Suretrak LSD. Mike

    6 Speed Gearbox

As a general rule I don't see why one should be morally bound to sell something at below market value just because you managed to pick it up at below market value If someone's happy to buy a 6-speed 'box for £1500 then what does it matter what the vendor paid for it? Mike
  7. Use the adjustable platforms to set a ride height such that on 13" wheels you can go everywhere you want to without grounding the sump. Or, as Stephen suggests, go 13" with 70 profile A021Rs - these tyres aren't the ultimate sticky tyre but they're a good all-rounder and massively better than those Pilots. And they're *really cheap*. Vs. a 195/55x15 you'll end up with the ride height just 0.1" lower. Mike

    wishbones

From a '97 Superlight 7 wide-track: Lower wishbones: 2.953kg a pair. Upper wishbones: 2.391kg a pair. Includes bushes which you'd obviously have to remove first. Take the precision of those figures with a pinch of salt! Mike
  9. As Rob says, it has been done. AFAIK it's not a factory-supported option, and you won't get a hood to fit. Mike
  10. Martin - complete diff assembly with LSD is considerably more than that from CC. I guess that's what Roger is offering since he mentions a ratio (LSD part is ratio-independent). Marcos59 - might be worth investigating these here. If they really are a complete Caterham-compatible AP Suretrak-equipped diff assembly then buying and paying R&R to change the ratio would still be 'cheap' (esp. as you could probably sell on the 3.38 CWP). Mike
  11. I'll be at the sprint. I've reverted to a radial set-up with A021Rs, will be interesting to compare times to my July visit on A24 ACB10s (which I just couldn't get working properly). Will poss. hang around to watch a bit of the racing depending on the weather! Mike
  12. Coo, a bargain for someone then. Mike
  13. I tend to agree, especially as Barry allegedly keeps a stockpile of assorted suitable engines in the barn Mike
  14. Sorry to hear that you've been bitten by Shelsley Barry, but have fun with the OMS! Mike
  15. Nowt to do with me and they might not fit a Caterham as-is, but aren't these things usually in short supply? here
  16. Well done Ken! And even weller (sic) done for resetting the over 1700cc roadgoing specialist production class record on Saturday! Mike
  17. He only comes once a year, and that's down your chimney? Mike

    Track Rods

Commiserations, I guess you deserved that bit of "luck"! While we're on Megas, congrats to Buroz for winning the championship, if he still reads Blatchat (or even if he doesn't). I remember his very first track day ('twas at Cadwell Park not that many years ago) - I don't think I've ever seen anyone more nervous before taking to the track. He was standing there looking white, shaking, and chain-smoking - and that was before the briefing! He seems to have got over it though! Mike

    Track Rods

Bent wishbones but chassis not bent? That's kind of "lucky". Are you using trailer parts to repair it? Mike
  20. Static balancing means balancing in a single plane. Dynamic means balancing in more than one plane. Static balancing *can* be done (but is rarely) without spinning the object in question, dynamic balancing can only be done by spinning the part. Anything that's essentially flat only needs a static balance - e.g. imagine balancing a CD, if you find something which fits the hole and mount it with the CD vertical (your 'axle' horizontal) in frictionless bearings, then it will rotate and stop with the the heaviest point at to bottom. Now imagine something with significant length along it's rotational axis, e.g. a propshaft. You could put opposing weights (180 degrees opposite) on at opposite ends and it would remain statically balanced, but it's dynamic balance (i.e. when spinning) would be appalling. For wheels, the wider the wheel the more essential it is to dynamically balance it. Mike
  21. The lift-the-dot poppers need to be at the top corners/ends (front and back), the normal ones go at the bottom. Mike
  22. Good point Petrolhead. However the damper is heavier than the spring. Maybe them billies are just extremely light? Mike
