I have a set of shocks complete with the adjusters if you are interested?
They have done less than 1000 miles and in very good condition.

Thanks for the replies.

What were the Falkens like?
The only experience I have had of them is on my tin top which weighs about 4 times as much as the 7. They were pretty useless for that but not a very accurate comparison I guess!
I must admit I would rather have the same tyres all round. But I was thinking of Bridgestones at the front and something else for the rear.
Which tyre place in Mitcham do you use?

I have done a search but could not really find what I was looking for.
Do any tyre companies make a wide 13" list 1a tyre?
I am thinking of 205 or wider for the rear as well as a 185 for the front.

I was using 185/60/14 032r's.
I think the front springs were 250lbs (not 100% sure)
IIRC the ride height was 130 - 135mm at the front.
As I said I ony had a problem on track days doing my hero braking bit
On the road I was just very careful as its actually quite a fragile sump compared to the Caterham one but no major problems.

I had oil problems the same as you are experiencing with my Caterham wet sump. Before I changed to a dry sump I fitted the SBD sump pan. It was a bit low at the front but with a fairly high ride height it was not too bad if you were careful.
I did a track day and found that the front of the sump was grounding out under braking (I guess you could have the same problem on the road) so I ended up cutting a wedge off the front of the sump so it was further away from the tarmac. This worked well for trackdays using slicks etc.
I had to get a sump for another engine (not a 7)a little while ago and ended up buying it from QED. It was the same as the SBD one.
I guess the proper solution would be a dry sump system.
I have had a dry sump on my 7 for the last 2 or 3 years and have never had a problem with the belts coming off or breaking.
The engines I have seen which have thrown a belt have either gone in the kitty litter or the pulleys are not aligned properly.

I prefer thin birds for the passenger seat.
It offsets the weight of the engine 😳

I have got a dipstick fitted in my top cover.
Its at the r/h front of the cover and at a bit of an angle.
The cover and box were built by BGH so he may be able to give you details of the dipstick.
I can bring it with me when I collect the casing if you would like to have a look.
I am sure you will see the light and fit a good old heavy vx enigne one day

You have got the right idea there!
The bigger the better!
Maybe a set of 19" rims with a 20 profile rubber band tyre could be fitted.
This is a performance up-grade as all the Nova boys fit them and their cars are well quick
Also the blue neon washer jets help with top speed as well as pulling the girlies 😳
I know you have recently fitted a side exit exhaust but how about a rear exit with twin 6" tail pipes ala Imprezza etc 🤔

I use 350lbs front and 150lbs rear springs.
This feels better for handling than a soft set-up but traction is a problem 😬
As for dampers I would use Penske or Ohlins given the choice (and the money) very light and very pretty 😬 They probably work well too
As for getting traction there is a little secret which I will share but dont tell anyone as its top secret. USE LESS THROTTLE

Couldnt agree more.
There are very few people who seem to be able to set carbs up properly.
I think its a dit of a dying art with the popularity of F.I.
I use 48's on a 2.0 16v vx. Its got a silly set of cams and it drives like a dream 😬 I use it mostly on the road so its important that it drives well.
This is only because the rolling road I got to are the muts nuts.
Just for the record Weber do 45's with extra drillings as standard. They are designed around 16v engines. Not sure if this is necessary though

The Weber under carb linkage fits on the vx's.
The only problem is with air filters. The k&n's are fine but the larger sponge type filters get in the way of the linkage.

As already stated the light switches do play up from time to time. I guess being open to damp etc does not help. You will probably find when this happens the rear lights and front side lights do not work either.
I have taken mine apart a few times and cleaned it and it works a treat

When I had the wet sump on my car I seem to remember having to overfill the oil above the usual max level. ISTR it held about a gallon. At the max level on the dipstick the tappets were noisy. It may be worth checking the archives to see what others have done.
