  1. Dave Is that an MX5? 😳 Any idea what the vmax was for the rst v8 in a 7? James Su77on Se7ens
  2. I must have missed that 😳 Any pics/info? James Su77on Se7ens
  3. Bit of a silly question, following a conversation over a few beers 😳, but what would it take to get a 7 over 200mph? Obviously a lot of horsepower 😬 but how much roughly? The aerodynamics are allegedly not the best compared to modern production cars but what can be done to improve matters apart from making it look like something else The easy solution in my mind is the gearing but am more than willing to be proven wrong 😬 James Su77on Se7ens
  4. The fibre/plastic ones are very prone to sticking and not always in the desirable pressure range 😳 The oe ones are much better. iro 60psi is spot on by the way 😬 Its unlikely that the cam seal is leaking due to the oil pressure as its not under pressure. Its worth changing the seal again to make sure but its also not unheard of for them to leak oil around the front cam bearing cap or most likely down the bolt thread as the cams are filled with oil via the gallery in the head and the oil creeps up the threads. If its still leaking with the lower oil pressure its worth re-sealing the threads on the cam pulleys. I have sometimes had to resort to a dab of sealant on the threads to cure them. 5. Thats good news about the car 😬 Hope the eye gets better soon James Su77on Se7ens
  6. Just to add that the nylon relief valves are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard Much better off with the standard metal one. James Su77on Se7ens
  7. I used to run my oil level high and let it throw what it didnt want into the catch tank. From memory the level was quite a bit above the max. Certainly more than 4mm. James Su77on Se7ens
  8. Having had the same problem with mine I cured it by fitting a dry sump The problem is that the oil cant drain back through the sump sponge quickly enough so the oil pick up gets a mix of air and oil. In turn causing noisy tappets. I had an accurate oil gauge on mine and when it did this the oil pressure dropped off slightly. I have noticed that the newer sponges from Caterham have a larger hole in the centre( the old ones were smaller and I used to enlarge it) which will help but only a small amount. Also worth checking the clearance between the pick up and the pan as this could make a difference too. Not really an answer im afraid but a dry sump will be a permanant fix but quite expensive. Although good insurance if you think of the cost of the engine! If you do this remember the Caterham dry sump tank has many faults and a better cheaper solution is a custom made tank. 9. I am posting this on behalf of Trevor Phillips. Any questions you have you can ring him on the number below but if you would like some pictures send me your email address and I will send them on to you. Another wet weekend down at the track for some. Isn’t it time you bought yourself a decent marquee? Having retired from Caterham racing I am selling mine – it is a top quality unit from City B marquee [much stronger than an Eazi-Up]. It has been used three times so is in tip-top condition. The specification is: Lightweight heavy-duty alloy frame with tensioned canopy Size 4.5m X 3m 2 x 3m side panels in 4oz fabric 2 X 4.5m side panels in 4oz fabric 3 large windows 1 large roll up door insert in 3m panel Panel Bag Frame bag Colour - Yellow and Dark Green [Caterham colours] The current price for this is around £2,400. Get a bargain for £975. Trevor Phillips 07968 537434 Crowborough, East Sussex

  11. I need some 215/50/13 tyres and am struggling finding somewhere to get them ☹️ The ones I am after are list 1a type ie dont grip very well/for heroes Has anyone got some they dont need please? Or ideas on where to get them 😬 James Su77on Se7ens
  12. Just to add that it has to go back to stack for repair as the glass needs to come out to access the needle and the glass is bonded in. James Su77on Se7ens
  13. The same thing happened to my stack dash ☹️ I think it was iro 55 quid to get repaired in the end. Turn around time was a week or so from memory. James Su77on Se7ens
  14. Paul I had a similar problem with the alternator on mine (original valeo one). It shattered at iro 8500 rpm Not an amusing noise to hear! At first I thought it had thrown something oily and expensive out the side Fortunately or not the bits went left and punctured the chassis tubes in a couple of places and dented the ali side skin. I say fortunately as it could have wiped out the drysump belt/cambelt etc My fix was to fit a Brise alternator (internal fan) as I didnt want the same thing to happen again James Su77on Se7ens
  15. ric My tin top has been known to drop to 6or7 mpg during enjoyable driving Out of interest have you painted your calipers on your new tin top 😳 I would consider a diesel but as the old saying goes:- "Owning a diesel is like being gay. Its becoming more accepted but its still wrong 😳" James Su77on Se7ens
  16. Peter I am concerned that there is something wrong with my car/mapping 😳 I went out for a blat the other week with another 7 and over the 200 mile journey returned a tad under 40mpg Dont even think of suggesting the possibility that I was driving like an old woman James Su77on Se7ens
  17. Hi Adam Didnt realise they were that wide! 245 would be good or 225 or 205 etc Not entirely sure what sizes they do hence the silly original post 😳 Not for road use. I was thinking of trying them at Brighton etc James Su77on Se7ens
  18. I am looking for a pair of acb10's. The wide rear ones whatever size they come in at! In soft compound preferably. Must have a bit of life left in them 😳 James Su77on Se7ens
  19. They do a lovely bit of welding. In fact a work of art. Its such a shame the guy is a complete tosser The phrase............. I would not piss no him if he was on fire seems quite apt. Mail me if you want more details James Su77on Se7ens

  21. Dont Colin ric is having a bit of a wind up as he knows perfectly well what the info is for James Su77on Se7ens
  22. Thanks guys I will get in the garage at the weekend 😬 Matt As you know I have a large garden and my ride on petrol mower is playing up. I think it has a fuel starvation issue so I am trying to sort it so it runs nicely James Su77on Se7ens
  23. Does anyone know of the formula to work out how much fuel is required for a given amount of bhp? And how much fuel a fuel pipe of a given size can flow at a set pressure? Thanks in advance James Su77on Se7ens
  24. I have just noticed how quickly you had replied! Thanks James Su77on Se7ens
