  7. Stack dash for sale. Model no:8130p with black dial This is not the Caterham branded one and has all adjustable functions, predictive lap timing etc and I think can have a lap timing beacon connected too. Its the road legal one so has speed,odometer,tripmeter,fuel gauge etc In very good condition Rev counter is 0-4-10000rpm Loom is complete as supplied from new ie not shortened Comes with all sensors for oil temp,water temp,oil pressure,fuel pressure,wheel speed sensor with bracket for fixing to front caliper,switches,external warning light for low pressure/high temp etc basically everything needed to fit it 😬 If you look at the Stack website it will tell you a lot more than I can 😬 Also have a RIF carbon dash which is not the best as it has had different switches etc fitted to it so has quite a few holes but is usable.   8. My 7 started out as a standard carb'ed car with screen,wipers,heater etc. The main bits of the loom eg lights etc are still in use. I have changed to injection (dta ecu) and a stack dash. So the ecu has its own loom,the stack has its own loom and the car has the standard loom with a few bits added ie fuel pump wires and there are a few unused bits. Its a bit of a mess but not that bad. I was thinking of making my own loom to incorparate all the additions and leave out the rest which would sort it out nicely as there is nothing which is close enough to be neat What ecu does yours use? Have you had a look at a k series r500 loom? Just thinking if you use an mbe,stack etc its quite a neat way of doing it. The engine side would not be that different and you could change connectors for crank sensor,injectors etc quite easily and also add on any extras.   11. ric Thats good news 😬 I am not entirely sure that a new crank sensor will sort out your other issues ric I have no personal experience in this field but my recommendation would be to start wearing mens clothes again and maybe it will feel right after a little while.   14. Mr Aves Just reading this and unless i have missed something have you changed the crank sensor? They can do really odd things sometimes! If you have not got it the Bosch metal one tend to works better imo as I have had all sorts of problems with the plastic ones. If you have not tried it I have got a good bosch one you can try and see how it goes. James Su77on Se7ens

Me:- "mmmm nice shiny new block 😬 Thanks" Ric:- " my pistons dont fit 🙆🏻 *mad*" I know what you mean Peter but I am working on a slightly different approach. Basically I am cutting down my pork pie consumption to 15 per day which should lose more weight off me than would be saved by fitting an ali block For road use, which is all I use the car for now, i am not convinced there is any advantage. I thought that after 10 years of having the 7 she deserved a nice shiny new engine 😬 With some even nicer new shiny oily bits inside 😬 Nothing wrong with a boat anchor Mr T I am not sure that many engines could have put up with the use mine has had over the years without needing major surgery 😬 James Su77on Se7ens

  21. Just to add a different perspective.............. I have used a type 9 five speed in my car for 10 years now and have broken the synchros a few times and one of the forks. When I did lots of trackdays in the car (slicks etc etc) I got the box rebuilt every winter but it didnt always need anything doing! Now its only road use and some drag racing its every 2-3 years. My gearbox has the quaiffe gear kit and alloy case. I think that the torque output is not as important as the use it has ie when I go drag racing my start consists of holding the throttle flat on the floor and sidestepping the clutch. There is no wheelspin thats noticable just a 1.5 second 60ft time which is a lot of shock to the drivetrain but nothing has broken yet Imagine this 5-8 times in a day and still driving home Then doing the same a month or so later For my car the 5 speeder is well suited as I think with the 6 speed I would always be changing gear or missing out gears. Also the 6 speed is based on the type 9 so I would assume that it uses similar/same synchros etc If a 5 speeder came up it may be worth considering it. James Su77on Se7ens

  23. The only ones I have come across are basically a direct replacement for the hydraulic part which is adjusted via an allen key through the end of the follower via a small hole. Not all followers have the small hole though. Hope that makes sense! I assume you know you would also need a different cam designed for solid lifters as the cams are different? James Su77on Se7ens

Thanks for all the replies That Westie is an awesome bit of kit 😬 So all I need to do is find 570bhp and I am there 😬 I will have a good look under the bonnet tonight and see if there are any spare horses lurking One of the things which was making me think that it would need more is the Sierra Cosworth which cracked 200 mph. That has some awesome amount of bhp as well as some nitrous to help things along! and I assumed that a 7 was going to have worse aero than a Sierra 😳 James Su77on Se7ens
