  1. Not too bad really, a bit of jiggling but no more. It's easy enough to keep an eye on the gap between the belhousing and block to make sure they are parallel with each other and with a trolley jack holding up the front of the gearbox you can adjust its angle to the engine easily. Oh, another thing I did (probably obvious) was to just loosen the engine mount to vibration mount bolts, then remove the mounts from the engine and just swing them out of the way. But it is great being able to just lift the engine straight out and up rather than engine and box at an angle and no gearbox oil to worry about! Ivan
  2. I can't remember if I needed to remove the alternator or not but I did as it was easy enough to do. I did remove the starter as I was only removing the engine not the box. The only other thing that comes to mind is the v-belt tensioner needs removing but the steering column gets in the way so undid it and removed it when the engine was a couple of inches up and tensioner was between the column and chassis tubes. Hope this helps Ivan
  3. Yes indeed, you're 2.48 with 13"s is about the equivalent of the 2.75 with 15"s Ivan
  4. Thanks for all the comments, I'm sensing a lot of love for Tracsport here I have been looking at their Full Helical Sport Touring Gear kit with a 2.752 1st which I think would be good for me (road use). Some of your firsts seem very long but I guess this choice would be affected by tyre size etc. and as I have 15" wheels and a 3.9 diff something not as long would be better (still getting used to my light flywheel and clutch arrangement so don't want to find myself not being able to get off the drive!! ) Cheers Ivan
  5. Thanks for the reply and info elie, I guess that most people use BGH or Tracsport for their upgrade gearboxes then. Ivan
  6. Hi All, I'm looking to change the gearbox in my car to get a long first ratio (and get rid of a rumbling lay shaft) and have been looking at 3J Driveline. Anyone had experience of their gearboxes? Price and ratios are very similar to BGH but they are a lot easier to get to. TIA Ivan
  7. This is the bit I bought for my 150 .... https://caterhamparts.co.uk/collectors-catalysts/3664-exhaust-collector-4-into-1-sigma-side-exit.html?search_query=36X025A%09&results=1 ..... and it worked just fine without any remapping Ivan
  8. I had heard that Cheeseman made some of the stuff for Caterham https://www.cheesmanproducts.co.uk/ Maybe worth giving them a call
  9. I always thought that the MOT was how John mentions where they look up your car and test accordingly but the last couple of years my 2007 Sigma has passed with a "no visible smoke" comment. Naturally I've never wanted to challenge this!! Not a Duratec, but fitting a decat pipe gave me flames, a nice noise (especially from the throttle bodies), and looked better. Not sure about performance but sounded quicker Ivan
  10. Thanks Wrightpayne, it would be the biggest job I have undertaken for a while so convincing myself I can do it!! Ivan
  11. Are there any write-ups of doing the flywheel swap on a Sigma? Ivan
  12. Great write-up, thank you. I'll certainly be using this when I get round to doing my belt early next year! Ivan
  13. Great, I saw those bits but thought they looked different to what I remember but if you've found a thread about them then I must have miss remembered That would be great if you could, I have a 150 and am heading towards cam belt change time again so want to check the tensioner while I'm doing it!! Cheers Ivan
  14. Caterham used to do an item that would convert an auto tensioner to a manual one. Basically a new center boss/washer with a off center hole for a few quid. Not sure if they still do it as I couldn't find it in their stores - but that could well just be me! Ivan
  15. Hi Tim, PM just sent but they are M5 x 25 and M5 x 16 countersink. Cheers Ivan
  16. I'm 6'2" and have had a '92 live axle long cockpit without problems, although I was definitely looking through the top portion of the windscreen and I currently own a '07 car (non SV) which started out with ordinary floors but has now got lowered ones. The reason for changing the floors was just to feel a little more 'in' the car and to try and get a little less buffeting - although I did own the car for 8 years before doing it so it obviously wasn't that necessary My height is in my body so, even now, I don't have the seat fully back or the pedals in the furthest hole and at only 12St I don't need the width of the SV Hope that helps Ivan
  17. Hi Richard, Sorry, they've all gone. I seem to have a growing list of names ready for the next batch though, so I'll add you to that if you'd like Cheers Ivan
  18. As it happens I thought I'd get a couple of extra pairs of each just in case Which type would you like? Cheers Ivan
  19. That's it, I've placed the order. I had no idea they would be so popular (over 40 sets!!) I'll PM everyone over the next few days with payment details. Many thanks Ivan
  20. Thanks Viblue7 just aded you too Ivan
  21. Hi All, Just as a heads up, I will close the order books as it were tomorrow night so that I can place the order first thing Wednesday morning. As they take a while to make I'm keen to get the order in so that everyone doesn't have to long a wait. Many thanks Ivan
  22. Hi Rhauri, Just added you to the list. They are very difficult to bend by hand so I think they are yes, although as there is less nylon there may be a little more flex if you measured it properly. Cheers Ivan
  23. Hi , yep, no problem Cheers Ivan
  24. Thanks Paul, and yes your message did get through OK - think there may be some issues at teh moment Cheers Ivan
  25. Thank you gents, all now added. Viblue7 - Yes, I think you're right looking at the pictures. I did some searching but couldn't find and dimensions though to confirm that they are 38mm spacing though. Cheers Ivan
