Hi Simon, I have just bought a long 1st and dropped 5th type-9 from BGH geartech in Cranbrook, Kent for £570ish. I went down to the company to pick it up and was very impressed with the work they do there, they certainly seem to know what they are doing. Unfortunately I havn't fitted it yet so I don't know how good it is or how easy it will be to do (I am converting 4 speed to 5 speed), probably a job for this winter. I bought a car a few years ago and afterwards noticed that it had the wrong engine number (OK I should of checked, but it was my first car and I didn't know any better) but when I wrote to the DVLA with the correct number I ended up with plod on my doorstep wanting to know where the engine was as it was stolen a few years earlier. So yes the DVLA/BiB can tell but I don't know if it is a service they provide to anyone. Fortunatly for me, by the time they came round I had already blown it up and exchanged it for another.

I have also used Pitstop in Brize Norton a couple of times and have been very pleased with the results on my X-flow.

From what I recall (11 years ago), it should be possible to gently drift the the bearings back into place with a suitable length of tube (diameter to fit the inner part of the bearing) and a hide hammer. Unfortunately I have no idea of the part number for the oil seal

Hi all, An easy question to start the week, could someone tell me the thread size used on the brake pipe unions. It looks to me like 3/8UNF but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong! Thanks
