  1. My stealth mode must have stopped working. Thanks for the spot.
  2. Mine used to stop working on hot days when the brakes were applied. Resolved it by fitting LED brake lights, to reduce the power drain, and earthed the sensor to the chassis at the back (probably similar to the aforementioned factory modification).
  3. Hi Logan, I had a similar problem about 4 years ago. I returned to Caterham South for their engineer to tweak the ECU setting as there was a mismatch with the thermostat or temperature sender. Regards, Ian.
  4. Thank you all for the suggestions. I need to check the details, but it looks like the reason I have to use a spacer on the front hubs when using the A048s (185/60R14) is that they have a larger diameter than the CR500s (195/45R15) that I usually run. I'm now looking for some tyres that will fit without the spacer. Current options arre A048s (185/55R14), which are only available in Medium hardness. Or I could fit Toyo Proxies T1-R (195/45R14) which are cheaper. The Nankan NS 2R (185/60R14) is reported to have a 13% larger contact patch. This, I assume means that the tyre is 'squarer' in profile and because of the spacer problem mentioned above may not fit the front without a larger spacer. Descisions, descisions... Regards, Ian.
  5. Sorry. I've just found I was using the wrong search terms
  6. Hi all, What are the choices? I can't seem to find R888s or A048s (my current tyre) anywhere, through the usual Google search. Regards, Ian
  7. Saw you going around the roundabout at the end of the pier.
  8. Also, check your earth leads. I had a similar problem that resolved itself after the earth straps in the engine bay had been re-seated.
  9. Quoting JonL: IanW - this maybe for you. I am only sorry I wasn't close enough to get you fully in frame 😬 Yup. That was me.
  10. Quoting JonL: I have a video of the gentle spinner at Clearways (Crumpynut?) which I will post when I have edited out all my missed apexes and occasional missed gear. Unless there was more than one spinner, I think it might have been me 😳
  11. Thanks Elie, I've ordered one from Caterham now. Regards, Ian.
  12. Hi, I am assuming that the grinding noise that I hear when I depress the clutch is a sign that the CRB is on it's last legs. Where is the best place to get a replacement? Is it a standard Ford part? Regards, Ian.

    DOT4 vs. DOT5.1

Not sure I agree with the boiling point. I changed to 5.1 for my track day at Llandow last year and had very soft brakes after a couple of sessions. Bled than over lunch but the softness came back when leaving the circuit in the evening. Normal feeling resumed later. I'm changing back to DOT 4 before my next track day.
  14. Hi, Having just upgraded to to a FIA roll bar I know have a standard one that is surplus to requirements. I guess it's similar to this one. It was fitted new when I built the car in 2009 and is still in good condition. I'm looking for £75 but I'll take offers. I live in NE Hampshire for anyone who would like to collect it. I also have the Caterham box the new bar was delivered in, so I could post it, just not sure the PO would like a box that size . Regards, Ian

    Various bits

Quoting Fishy Dave: £100 Tall FIA roll bar good condition, standard black finish, these don’t come up for sale very often, bought from our chairman but not fitted. Is this for S3 or SV? If it's SV, I'm interested.

    Heater vent

Another point of reference for correctly aligning the vent panel is the small semi-circular cut-out on the long edge, as seen in the first picture above. If this is at the top, the cut-out cunningly aligns with the cable for the heater motor where it passes through the bulkhead.

    SM25T, You are most welcome.

    Heater vent

SBD762 - The swivel vents only direct the heat onto your thighs - at least that's how mine operate. See the bottom right of the third picture to see how the hot air is directed into the foot-well.

    Heater vent

As I mentioned, this approach does not work for me - I had already tried it. The spacer would have to be about twice that length. This would mean that it would (almost) protrude from the dash and I'd be afraid of catching it when getting in.

    Heater vent

As I'm nearing my 4th winter of Caterham ownership, I thought I'd do something about keeping my feet warm during the cold weather blats. I started at looking for ways to direct the hot air from the heater into the foot-well. To this end, I removed the air vents from inside the car. Now this is where I find that I've been driving the car with it upside down . This is what the vents look like http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3445687/IMG_0290.JPG and http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3445687/IMG_0291.JPG. Notice the two 'ears'. Well they should be pointing down to direct the hot air into the foot well. As shown http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3445687/IMG_0292.JPG. I've only had a chance to make a stationary test, but the signs are promising as hot air was blown into the foot-well when I turned the heater and fan on . Whilst looking at this problem I also decided to do something about the heater control. Due to my long legs, I have the seat pushed back as far as it will go. This means that when I'm strapped in I can't reach the heater control under the dash. I even tried extending the knob but it was still unsatisfactory. So,I ordered one of these and mounted it on the dash. Here's what it looks like http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3445687/IMG_0305.JPG. I'm happy with the result . Now I can turn the heating on / off without unbuckling my seat belt and I should have warm feet .

    Wiper Blades

Quoting Ray Pearce: Much clearer, thanks Ian. I imagine that, with the intermittent module fitted, this would serve to turn the intermittent mode on and off? Hi Ray, I don't know how the intermittent module is fitted or operates, so I can't comment. Do you have a circuit diagram showing how it's installed in the car?

    Wiper Blades

I've updated the picture and added some description here. I hope it makes sense 😬

Here's a rough sketch of my single wipe button. The top 4 connections on the left are the existing switch and the bottom two are for the momentary push button switch to activate the single wipe function. The relay is a standard automotive changeover type. If you want any more details, just ask.
  24. Took my old apart - kept the spring but lost the end plate
