  1. On my Zetec I used 2" wide DEI Titanium exhaust wrap (2 x 15' lengths). Not too unpleasant to handle and it doesn't need to be soaked in water to put it on. I found the easiest way by far is to remove the primaries, bolt them one at a time to a suitable bit of wood and clamp the wood in a vice. This will give you plenty of room to work with and is much easier to pull the wrap tight. I never got on with the stainless steel cable ties so have always used a suitably sized stainless steel jubilee clips. See this thread re exhaust packing which helped me
  2. As a Class 4 competitor, who has found this year to be very competitive (at least for the top 6) I agree with the proposed changes. The only hard bit was trying to compete with Nigel's 250bhp(?) on ACB10s (quirk of the regs). If the proposed Class 5 (current Class 6) then dropped into Class 4 this would then leave a power band range of 100bhp (160bbhp lower limit to Shaun's 260bhp). That to me seems to be too large a range and most likely will discourage any newcomers with less than (say) 220/230bhp from entering in the future?
  3. Looking at the Paddock Plan would the last 3 pairs listed in your post be preferable as they're next to the L7C area?
  4. .... early start for us, especially the dual drives, as we're Batch 1 looks like Chris Bramall will be opening the batting, so to speak.
  5. When sprinting I found the 'normal' cap leaks so I replace it with the race cap which has solved the problem

Andy Couchman of this parish has a lovely x/flow running on throttle bodies producing circa 170bhp. Personally more than happy with my 200bhp Zetec conversion after the x/flow grenadier itself
  7. my rough measurements show an extra 25mm "thigh/leg" clearance available using a "flat" over a standard round 270mm wheel. that is until you turn a corner and you back to square 1....
  8. This SPA 255mm D-shaped suede wheel works well for me. Tillet seat, 5'8" and standard floor. Can be seen in action
  9. I've also removed the runners and just use the aluminium box section and reclined them as Stu says. This means the base of the Tillett is now just a few millimetres from the floor
  10. Another for Rapfix. No problems at MOT and they see me remove/replace when getting in and out through the cage.
  11. They are under Entry Lists and competitor bulletins http://www.gurstondown.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Competitor-Bulletin-1-July-17-and-18-2021-1.pdf
  12. A space for me please Justin
  13. I used the method on Steve Marsh's page back in 2004 but I was starting from a position of cutting off an existing carrier. You may be fortunate to have a suitable length of stub left. As for getting hold of an imperial carrier you might be lucky to find one on here from someone who has dispensed with one permanently or alternatively give Bruce a call at Arch Motors (imperial chassis manufacturers)
  14. Another question... Trailers, support vehicle and 7 all in paddock together? Regs only seem to refer to tarmac'd area in paddock and it looks like we are on the grass?
  15. Currently looking wetter than an otter's pocket ☹️ Reminds me of my when the marshals ran for cover and said just make your way back to the paddock
  16. My effort https://www.lotus7.club/forum/chitchat/while-rome-burns-ive-made-better-use-my-time
  17. Interesting.... mine's a '93 car and and the nose cone has always rested on the lower bracket so the Dzus fastener is fixed to said bracket and the 's' clip is fitted to the inside of the nose cone. It's remained that way through both rebuilds with new nose cones. Seems logical to me..... Maybe on later 7's the nose cone is slightly different requiring the fasteners to be the other way round?
  18. My understanding is that they need to be to inflated to around 30 psi just to get the tyres to bead properly? My garage then asks what pressure I'd like them to be be deflated to.
  19. I used PPG when my 7 was repainted in 2015 and I had the film added to the nosecone, rear wings, scuttle, cockpit bows (?) and the area behind the bonnet springs. Yes, there are a few scuffs from flying stones on the rear wings but more importantly the film hasn't 'yellowed' over the white strip on the nosecone. Not cheap but well worth it in my opinion.
  20. ...and if your concerned about leaving stuff in the boot then there's the option of a Pacsafe
  21. Having seen Jeremy's video I can vouch that lift off was particularly spectacular as the horizon disappears below the nosecone
  22. You'll need 2 of these. I can't remember the head size, I'm sure someone will be along to advise, but It's worth buying a socket and grinding off the chamfer as the heads on these bolts are very easy to round off.
