  1. I've also got one surplus to requirements - but I'm even further away from you than Gordon. Has reminded me to get off my arse and put the thing up in the For Sale section though.
  2. Chris, a bit diffdicult to tell from the piccies - but it looks as if you do have the kinked engine ount as required for the x-flow d/s 5 port pump system. This normally has one of the pipes (the one in the 1 or two o'clock position) exiting the dry sump pump in CLOSE contact with the steering column. One (the normal) way of dealing with this is to rotate the steering rack and so raise the column away from the pipe. What ya ave been done on your vehicle is to have modified (bent ?) the mounting brackets to lower the engine slighly. I would ask for someone near to you who has a crossflow to get togethor with you so that you can compare steel mountings and rubber mountings and engine/chassis relative positions to see if you can determine what the issue is. You DEFINITELY should not have the engine/bellhousing touching the chassis (and there is a bolt missing), Dave
  3. One thing I've not seen mentioned above (though it is late and I have had a couple of beers) - there are washers on either side of the diff, to centralise it. Before removing the diff, either measure the gap at either side of the diff to the mounting points, OR when removing bolt(s) make sure that you catch the washers from each side. There may be different numbers each side, and colecting them means that you don't have to go to all the faff of installing diff, measuring, removing, changing washers around, re-installing etc Dave
  4. y.h.m., Dave Oeps - will have to learn to read the "For Sale" section whilst not on the phone at work. Not what I am looking for - so still available. Dave Edited by - DaveMorris on 4 Jul 2012 18:19:36
  5. I've got a spare, brand new, unused lower steering column in my shed I think. £47.40 + p&p from Caterham. How about £35 + postage ? If interested then please Blatmail me, Dave
  6. I would go straight to KN Wheels in Telford. 01952 614402. They make them, and will do you a custom colour/finish if you want (I had a satin blakc set made recently). Any offset you like. Very helpful, Dave
  7. Phil, blatmail me your contact and I will send some files. Also have some bits which may be helpful (depending on what type of roll bar you have), Dave
  8. It is a regular supersprint one that I'm looking for. NO rush from me either as I'm also gonna be away for a few days. Dave
  9. Been watching this thread with interest. I've never seen the items that Greg is describing though I've only seen in total a few hundred sevens (6 or 700 max I suppose). We're all being really polite - but personally I don't think these things exist. (though looking at the leading edge of my front wings I wish they did). Dave (away for two weeks now so prepared to get flamed)
  10. A quick "boing" from me a local Motor factors were no help, neither the 3 scrap yards I've been to so far. Still in need of water pump pulley and alternator mounting bracket. Dave
  11. Well, today I took the car to work. Refilled on way home and then checked both carbs with fuel pump running - no fuel passing anywhere. Then put car back onto ramps, and both with and without fuel pump running - no drips what-so-ever. Checked fuel consumtion over last 60 miles - again at/around 24-25 mpg. If tickover on the forthcoming trip gets lumpy then I can take lid off the carb and check float needle valve is free. I'm gonna leave it alone for now, and treat the dripping last night as an anomoly. Dave
  12. A quick strip and check is on the cards I think - got a longish trip coming up soon. Strange though as I just did an economy check on last tank of fuel, and seemed to be achieving somewhere in the 24-25mpg area (which I thought was pretty good). Dave
  13. fuel tank is full, rear of car is jacked up on top level of axle stands, and I'm checking de-dion tube etc at rear of car. I then see fuel dripping, at quite a rate, from the rearmost of the twin 45's. I assume that this is not normal. Could the float valve be passing ? What effect would this have on normal running / economy (I assume not good). Dave
  14. Don't know whether you are looking to replace/buy another distributor but I've got a 103fxy and also a 103fxyuls sitting on a shelf in the garage if you don't fancy the new price from Aldon. The 103fxy has recently come back from USA where it kept an Ohio sevener mobile for a few months. Dave. Just re-read your post - please ignore the above. Are you still on points ? - if so then fitting Aldon Ignitor contactless system was one of the best moves I ever made with my crossflow. D Edited by - DaveMorris on 28 May 2012 19:56:31
  15. Clive, if it's a matter off connectingn red to red and black to black then I'm your man. Beyond that it all starts to get a bit fuzzy. Might see you on Tuesday night, Dave.
  16. Thanks both, now more confused than I was earlier this afternoon 😬 Dave p.s. - reason for the question is that I'm looking to have a new tank made, want to go slightly oversize - but do't want to have to lift the boot floor up any higher than standard.
  17. IS there anyone out there with a Live Axle car, normal boot floor and standard fuel tank who can measure the distance between bottom of boot floor and top of tank - and then let me know/ post here. I think that it's something around 65mm, but not sure, thanks in advance, Dave (Edited because I cannot type !!) Edited by - DaveMorris on 27 May 2012 15:15:54
  18. I will soon be removing one of these beautiful cast iron stoves, and replacing it with something more pleasing to my wife. This, and the fact that the heat output of this fire is too great for the room that it is in, are the only reasons to change. (I almost needed a quick jolt of the defibrillator after realising quite how much a replacement fire + installation was going to cost 😳) The fire is currently fitted with a back-boiler. (Note - It is possible, by purchasing a few bits, to convert this to a non-boilered fire. Bits are not cheap however) I got this fire from a fellow blatchatter a few years ago and stripped various parts, replaced a few parts and re-painted, after which it looked like new. Has been quite well used over the last couple of winters. WHen I collected the stove there was a small crack in the front face (above left hand door) which had to be pointed out to me. The length of the crack has not grown at all in the last 3 years. Will be for sale with all parts to enable burning of either wood or coal + various sections/bends of 8" diameter satin black stove-pipe. Pictures can be made available if required. I have absolutely no idea what price to put this up for, though realise that I'll get some bright spark pointing out "the rules of posting in the For Sale section" if I don't - so I'll put £550. Any-one who is interested in the fire can make what offer they think is reasonable. Please note that :- I WILL remove the fire from our lounge and place it on a heavy duty Euro-pallet. I WILL NOT post. (The fire + associated bits weigh in at >250kg). If you have a carrier who would collect from my home at a time convenient for me then that is also o.k. I WOULD PREFER collection, and would use my engine crane, if possible, to lift the fire onto the trailer of the person collecting it. COULD, at a push, deliver - though my free time is limited over the next couple of months. If you want to know more then feel free to ask, Dave
  19. Clive, n.p. Will give it a while longer on here and then e-bay it as they seem to be achieving >£300 on there (for this condition/color). Dave
  20. Clive, to be perfectly honest I'm not 100% sure - but I don't think so. Worth a quick trawl on MX-5 Owners forum (which I'll try and do tomorrow evening if I get time). Dave
  21. As it happens I need the tensioner strap also 😬 Do I need to blatmail you my address ? thanks, Dave
  22. As per title. Preferably good condition. Thanks, Dave.
  23. To fit Mk2 / Mk 2.5. Comes in a home-made storage bag which allows it to be hung from garage wall (or ceiling if you are brave enough). Couple of minor marks/scratches, but otherwise in very good condition with 4 good, fully locking clamps/catches. Looking for £280, collection only (or we could have a go at a GONADS type transfer), I've got one picture of the roof on the car, but none of roof only. Could be arranged if needed. 24. I think that "A 20 VX" would look good
