  1. Looks like my mate is looking for something quite a bit cheaper! Thanks for posting your responses.
  2. Thanks, I'll check with my mate. Is it a 5 speed box, do you have part number or reference number he can check!
  3. A friend of mine is looking for a type 9 gearbox to fit into his Triumph Spitfire, anyone got one for sale or now of anyone looking to shift such an item. Maybe hidden in the depths of the garage! Thanks
  4. Reg number F1 on blue Ferrari turning onto the Bournemouth Spur Road. Nice man let me overtake him on the dual carriageway :-)
  5. Had a similar problem on mine, wouldn't read above 60 degrees. Changed the sender and the thermostat, still wouldn't read above 60. Turned out to be loose connections on the back of the gauge! Took the spade connectors out of the plastic plug, crushed the connectors with some pliers so that they'd make better contact with the terminals on the gauge and all is now fine (touch wood).
  6. Removed the temperature sender unit from my Apollo tank and managed to strip the thread! What options do I have? Tap a bigger thread and fit an adapter, anyone tried this, which adapters? Tap a bigger thread in and seal with a bolt and dowty washer! Weld over the hole! Buy a new tank, but at £130, i'd rather try the above or any other suggestions.
  7. Years ago I had a ticking noise develop on an old Vauxhall Cavalier! Turned out to be the start of the crankshaft bearings going. On stripping the bottom end, I found one of the main bearing shells had started to wear away or "pick up" I think was the term used. Never found out what caused it, could have been oil starvation due to a blocked oil way. Just a thought!
  8. Thanks for the feedback. I have the article printed out ready and have read The Angus and Tessa write up. It was just knowing how the pipes attach to the tank from the sandwich plate.
  9. 2004 Caterham RoadSport S3, 1.8 K-Series, Wet Sump, Green Having purchased an Apollo kit from Caterham , I now have to fit it! I've trawled through the BlatChat archives and have enough information on how to fit the tank, route the pipe work, fit the sandwich plate, file off bits of engine block, fill with oil, starting procedures etc. etc. What’s missing for me is how to connect between the tank and the sandwich plate, that is, which pipe goes where? I know the long pipe joins the top of the tank and short one goes to the bottom, but which pipe goes where on the sandwich plate? Can anyone shine some light? Thanks in advance!
  10. Fitted a set of Murray clamps sent over by SFS, they seem to have done the trick. No leaks so far. A big thanks to SFS for their support and to the L7C community for their suggestions.
  11. Thanks for the feedback. Have spoken to SFS and their sending some different clamps. Will try the tips mentioned here also. If that fails, they've offered to make up some silicon sleeves (similar to the inner tube idea) to plug any gap between the pipework and hoses. Failing that..........
  12. The hoses went on too easily (apart from the J hose onto the thermostat housing). I didn't need to use any grease to ease them on! Makes me think they're too big!! I tried both the worm drive type clips (jubilee) and T bar style (Mikalor), with minimal success. Tried screwdrivers, spanners and socket set! If I tighten them anymore, I fear I'll collapse the pipework or at best strip the threads!
  13. Recently bought a set of SFS silicon hoses for a 2004 1.8 K series, wet sump. Kept the same cooling circuit and original thermostat as it was working fine, just changing over to silicon as the old hoses were starting to perish. Fitted all the hoses, fitted a bleed T to the top heater hose, filled with coolant and then the problems started! I'm now struggling to get the bottom hose and J hose to seal properly. The bottom hose to the radiator is particularly bad, even with the engine off and the system cold, you can squeeze the hose and see fluid seeping out. I've tried jubilee and Mikalor clips, the Mikalor ones were worse. I had to swap back to jubilee on the top hose to get a better seal. Anyone else had any problems with these hoses? Any recommendations? I've phoned SFS and they are checking their tooling, the radiator pipes and submarine are all 32mm diameter on mine. Have these ever changed? Any help, greatly appreciated.

    leaking Diff

I had a similar problem, oil leaking from the front of the diff. Oil seals were all fine, it was oil travelling up the spline. I removed the diff from the car, removed the drive flange, cleaned it all thoroughly with brake cleaner, applied a liberal amount of black RTV to the splines and drive flange and put it all back together. I've done around 1000 miles in 6 months and, touch wood, no more leaks.
  15. Hi, I'll take the hood bag if it's still up for grabs.
