I'll go for the spare wheel carrier and luggage rack if still available (and posting is included in the £40 !!). Mail me if this o.k. for you. DM
  3. Car = Bog standard 1600 crossflow fitted with Weller racing rims. These are not ET23 which I see is standard Caterham supply but are ET12's Will this extra 22mm of track make any real difference to anything (apart from a bit more stress on the wheel bearings) 🤔
  4. Can confirm - own a landcruiser and regularly tow with it - electrics are 12v. Careful not to speed - you'll forget you've got anything on the back !!
  5. Apologies to the purists as this isn’t really too “tekkie” – but no-where else seemed appropriate to post! I have a set of 4 gold centred (silver rimmed) KN's with p.c.d. of 3 3/4". On the back, in 4 depressions/holes is the following information :- KN Made in UK 6J X 13 SCP I don't know what the SCP means. Does it mean anything at all ? I have had the rim checked and have been told the offset is ET16 (Can they do this without removing the tyre from the rim ?) (Until I started reading threads in these pages I never knew what offset was all about. I'm still not too sure). Could they really be Caterham standard offset rims (with an ET23) ? There ends the tekkie type questions. Ideally I am looking for 1 off to make up a set of 5, or potentially a couple . The current set have only been used on track and have suffered no (visible) damage. Could anyone point me in the right direction ? Alternatively, though not my preferred route, I could go for a full new set. If so – what would you recommend (and I don’t have the chunky wallet required for split rims etc) If KN are still a good option - do they do black/silver combination (or what else looks good on a black bodied car)? If going for new, should I stay with ET16 or move to Caterham standard of ET23, (or the ET19 which is stated in the manual ?) Not sure whether this should be in Tech, Wanted or directed straight to a supplier. Apologies for all the questions, and I don’t expect all of them to be answered. Looking forward to, and expecting, many HIGHLY BIASED replies on “which rim would you recommend?”
  6. To all of you, thanks for all the information - and indeed the link to the canoe story. Not a dry eye in the house (though no children woken up). 1/. Will try and "test-sit" in as many se7ens as I can before deciding which way to go. 2/. Making own expanding foam seat looks and sound FAR TOO DANGEROUS for me. 3/. Being a hoarder by birth and still in the process of trying to convince my wife that I won't kill myself if allowed out on a track, I intend to keep the racing seats (short term at least). Sorry to those who may have been interested. Thanks again for the highly informed, and helpful replies, Dave
  7. In something of a quandary, and in need of help . . . . Have got nice shiny black “Caterham 7” race seats fitted in my ex-Graduate series car. To say the least they’re “snug”. My hips are just o.k. but 44” chest has trouble getting wedged into position and thigh muscles interact with the seat such that my knees often knowck togethor. (Wife is slightly more “hippy” so tends to sit ON rather than IN the passenger seat). I also have shortish legs for my height (5’10”). Car is fitted with full racing cage, which I intend to leave on even though I also have FIA roll bar available. I need a seat which keeps me quite laid back so that I can – a/. reach the pedals whilst b/. keeping my head well inside the limits of the roll cage (which also helps me look thru the screen rather than over it). Conversely, my wife, though also approx 5’10” has longer legs and a shorter body – therefore needs to keep her back more upright in order to fit her legs in. I also have 4/5 point harnesses fitted – and again would like to keep these. The above leads me to believe that a bench back + 2 drop in seats would not be suitable (Comments? I’ve seen the seats which Caterham sell and, being close to Wrexham, have walked around Demon T’s and looked at the range that they have on offer. Can’t see anything which might fit the bill. I’m not made of money (hence the x-flow Graduate) but need to get something a little more suited to my shape, whilst maintaining some sort of padded support. If anyone out there can make enough sense of the description above to visualise the problem . . . Is there anything available out there that might suit? Dave.
  8. O.K. - so another reply that's of little/no help. Swapped cash for Caterham over the weeked, checked lights before driving home and all was well. Told that o/s rear not working after about the first 40 miles (tailgated all the way home by nervous wife!) - believe it must have been those bloody irritating furrows (that I've never noticed in a Landcruiser!) on the M6 around Junctions 5/6/7. I chased the wiring all the way back last night, checking for power using a multimeter, before finally finding the fuseboard (just before the earthquake hit us). Found the 7.5A fuse blown in mine also. DON'T fit a bigger fuse - a direct short will blow anything that you can throw at it (short of a 3" nail) and can lead to melting of the plastic that covers wires (I know - I had an MGB once !!!) You need to find the cause. Try isolating dash lighting before re-fitting the fuse - see if that works. If not - buy LOTS of 7.5 amp fuses and keep them in your pocket.
