  1. I have a Seat Leon TDi and it also states no Biodiesel. I have recently been doing quite a bit of research into Biodiesel tanks and pipelines for my house central heating, and it can be very nasty stuff to ordinary rubber and and yellow metals. It also does not have the lubricating properties of fossil diesel and hence kills modern high pressure diesel injector pumps.
  2. For the plane enthusiasts I have a complete set in binders of Orbis' Airplane-The complete aviation Encyclopedia As here I am not after that much, £50 Doug
  3. Apologies, like I said It was just a quick glimpse of the car. Glad you have had a spot. I had a quick run out Thurs pm in a brief moment of sunshine, cold but good to be out again. Doug
  4. Purple?, c/w Hood up. Heading south at the Newbury College r'bout. It was the sound that caught my attention only got a glimpse of you through the pedestrian railings. Nice afternoon for it. Doug
  5. I have this exact issue. In my case it is because I have a Brise starter, and I suspect a slightly useless Banner battery. From what I have been told the ecu's stop working if the volts on them drop below I think 10 volts. So when you start the car the volts drop and then the engine dies as tickover speeds are not enough to recover the volts in the battery. I have checked mine with a Digi Volt meter whilst starting and this is exactly what is going on in my case. Maybe worth a look. The rest of the time the car is absolutly fine. Doug
  6. here Still bored!! Has anyone tried these? The only issue is they aren't 'identical' in look for the purists (sp). I have to add I am not one but I have seen a 7 with the round LED rear lights and it looked right for that car, but I don't think they would look good on every 7. Doug
  7. here Ok so I was bored at work and saw this thread, thought I would have a look around. I am not near a car so don't know if they are the right size exactly and these are In Australia, but it is hopefull. Doug

    throttle body

I have used a Carb cleaner for a VX throttle body on an astra, worked a treat a cleared a fluff that was happening during acceleration. I don't think they are any thing special, just the right cleaner for road muck and fuel that doesn'y harm the engine. If anything just less elbow grease and dismantling required when you use them. Doug
  11. R? EAL Ali and Green c/w clams. Out making the most of the weather, I went home and fired mine up and went out too. SL #57
  12. Green with a yellow nose cone and possibly yellow roll over bar heading south on the A34. About 8.20 am this morning between Abingdon amd Milton jncs. I was in a tintop going the other way.
  13. I bought a kit from Rally Design, I think it was their seven piece kit. It got a bit messy around the heater I needed to add an extra bend to make the hoses fit, but if you don't have one it had all the hoses you need, and they all fitted fairly well. the only struggle was the hose onto the thermostat housing, but some boiling water and silicon grease solved that one. Doug
  14. I have used a long strip of cloth poked into the bore via the spark plug hole on a Ford CVH engine, worked a treat to change the valve stem seals. That needed a special tool to compress the valve springs though, dont know if these exist for a K. Doug
  15. Dependant on the connection you have to your scavenge pump from the 'sump pan' you can take that connection off and put your sucker tube down that and suck the oil up from there. This negates the need to take off scavenge pump belt. When I did this on my car I also put the opposing side of the car to the scavenge pump pick-up up on ramps to aid the flow. Doug

  19. The large nut is a locknut for the 'very large allen bolt'. This acts down onto the rack and provides friction and therefore 'stiffness' when the rack is turned. I have just fitted a brand new rack from CC and used it on Mon in the hot weather and it was no stiffer than the old one, but that had excessive play on the N/S inboard trackrod, hence replacing it. Before you try and turn anything I would recomend marking the Allen bolt position so you can put it all back if loosening off doesn't help. SL #57
  20. Doug With regards the heat sheild I do remember that Mk 3 Escort I had, had a heat sheild mounted across the back of the altermator, it would be the right shape and being Ford may even fit !! The exhaust came within cm's of the back of the altermator on that and never suffered, although I know we are talking a lot less heat power etc etc. May even be worth looking under the bonnet of a Zetec engined tin top and find one that does fit straight away Doug SL #57
  21. I recently changed the oil on my purple pump dry sump K series, and used a Sealey vaccum oil remover. I got the oil in the 'sump' out by removing the hose from the back of the scavenger pump that comes from the 'sump', put the car up on ramps on the near side and put the pick up from the vacuum device down the hose to the 'sump'. Left the vacuum to do the job. Overall ,bell tank and 'sump'I got ~4.5 litres out. I will eventually get brave and take the blue plate off over the winter just to clear any 'debris' out that may be in there. SL #57
  22. As it says, on the M4 going westbound Junc 13 about 8 am behind a black 4x4.
