  1. The APs need quite a bit of bedding in and the brake force required will be higher than your previous motors. Might be worth bleeding them again.
  2. Richard can't do wings as his process does not work on compound curves.
  3. You will fail it if you have 4 point harnesses. Caterham have changed the race cars that have a hand brake to tunnel top hand brakes for this very reason. The logic behind it is that you cannot operate the handbrake whilst strapped into a 4 point if it under the dash.
  4. The bloke who makes it for DITP makes it for F1 teams too (including McLaren I believe).
  5. Dog in the Park makes the best so I have heard! Stands well back and waits for an explosion

    MOT HELP

Try finding a garage that puts the probe in a shorter distance "to avoid burning it"
  7. Get someone to host them on their website as you cannot post photos onto Blatchat. Someone like Angus (Angus&Tessa) will probably oblige.
  8. Comma is a part of Exxon-Mobil and therefore probably has access to quite a lot of research capability.
  9. Interesting post none the less.
  10. Comma as far as I know didn't and don't produce any other 5W50 oil. Why would they develop something specially if it would be crap for the engine?
  11. I somewhat doubt it! These engines are as far as I know totally different.
  12. Why not post the information here so that everyone can benefit?
  13. Forgot to mentiont that very important point that Count made! Lots of people use Mobil1M in the blind belief that it will endow them with formula 1 performance it truth it cannot be that great for the engine. The Caterham/Comma motorsport stuff will be great especially for those mid summer track days where temperatures can get very high.
  14. I have said it before and someone will be along to disagree with me in a minute. It is designed for the car and it is the best that is available so I use it! I put it in for the last oil change and it seems fine.
  15. Did you put copperslip on the back of the pads?
  16. No Magnus it sounds massively high! I doubt even Group B rally cars ran that much boost!
  17. Must be a Cat 2 if it is approved as Cat 1 is for combined alarm/immobiliser units. You would think an insurance company would know that?
  18. Never heard of one popping out of gear? Mine doesn't do that!
  19. COuld be unique in the world of Caterhams!
  20. R300 engine does not have VVC it is a TB engine. Extra torque is mainly due to the capacity.
  21. Se7enmad: Why would it make the car less useable? Because the box makes a huge whining noise all the time. I like hearing my engine not an unnecessary (on a road car) and irritating noise.
  22. Jackal you are getting an Elite box aren't you?
  23. Advantage obviously with the Supersport R conversion is that it will add value to the car whereas any other tuners work is likely to reduce the value. No doubt people like DVA power are very well regarded and many people wouldn't bat and eyelid at buying a car worked on by him. But a good number of prospective owners would not buy a car modified by someone other than Caterham. The supersport R conversion means you effectively get lots of new bits in your engine and depending on how many miles your car has done this could be a big advantage. Apparently 160 bhp is fairly conservative for the conversion. I have driven an R300 recently and I did not find it any less revvy than my current superlight (1.6ss). It was also certainly a lot quicker!
  24. Sgt Peter do I understand that you intend to use the car mainly on the road? I can't understand why you would want to fit these bits unless you are doing a lot of track work or have a highly tuned engine. Both will reduce the useability of the car by quite a bit for no real benefit on the road. The straight cut will be really loud and I find them really irritating and fail to see the point unless you have a lot of power. Likewise the paddle clutch is not a great option for lots of road use as you are likely to stall or involuntarily wheel spin more than with the standard set-up.
