  1. Thanks Mankee, will get in touch with Arnie (I have already have the Rover insert)
  2. Now I'm back to an EU2 cam cover I'd love to find a red Supersport insert, but Caterham are out of stock, anyone willing to sell theirs?
  3. I chopped a bit off mine and drilled out the Caterham 6 speed alloy knob to a tight fit then used epoxy to finish the job. No problems in the last couple of years and my knob gets some vigorous action at times .
  4. I don't bother to display one, instead keeping the original in my wallet should I need to show it. I realise this is illegal but haven't had a problem yet, even when stopped for speeding 😳.
  5. Hi Mark, As I am going to be working for CSCC next year sadly I won't be able to race in Magnificent Sevens, however, I will keep in touch if that's ok and see if I can put you in touch with someone else who may be looking to share races. Edited by - Fishy Dave on 18 Dec 2012 17:17:06
  6. Quoting Z3MCJez: 50.2 was the best time recorded in the CSCC Mag 7s this year. So maybe not, "easy". That was in a CSR260. Jez Not on slicks though
  7. Hi Mark, Sorry I haven't replied sooner, first time I have seen your reply. On holiday asset present, will reply properly end of next week. Thanks to the member who blat mailedme. Cheers, Dave and Beth (in theSpanish sun)
  8. Agree with Martin about the characteristics of the green front bar, personally I prefer the red front bar with standard springs.
  9. I used one of these for years, great little thing - Microshift
  10. Last Sunday was a day I'd been looking forward to for some time. It was the day the engine was coming out to be delivered to Oily for him to do his magic. Budget and race class is restricting what I'd like to have done to putting my old Supersport cams, solid lifters and some used Trophy pistons in. Elizabeth, myself and Paul Manning set to work on undoing everything, a nice easy job usually except some numpty had over tightened the dry sump coupling (er, that would be me a couple of years ago). So, crawled underneath the car, on my back, two hands on the spanner, HEAVE!!! OUCH! The nut undid very suddenly and I punched myself in the eye and sliced my nose with the end of the spanner! After the shock of the pain and blood I had to have a little lay down (bit of a girl with blood), but ignored Beths request to get the doctors - I had a tight schedule to get the engine out and to DVA 😬. I was 15 minutes late to Daves door, with most of the ancillaries still attached (mine and the engines) which was good going. I'm sure Dave must have wondered who the thug was on his doorstep with a bruised eye and bloodied nose. Worse was to come the next day when I went to the NHS walk in centre (excellent places though) and was mildly told off for not having visited sooner. By then the skin had receded, leaving an open cut and left a big bump on my nose, so the nurse got tweezers, open up the cut again, cleaned it and stretched the skin back across the cut and taped it down with paper stitches. After another lay down, the feeling of nausea passed and I got back to work to have to repeat the same story and reassure customers I hadn't been fighting, it was self inflicted, and yes it was pretty stupid. http://www.racelife.co.uk/DSC_0007.jpg So, when undoing something tight on the car please look after your knuckles, noses, eyes or any other part of your anatomy. It is also proof that upgraditis is not only painful on your wallet. Hoping the engine will bring my smile back next month.
  11. 😬 I have, and used to use a stick on plate on the nose cone but thought I'd give a lower, full size plate a go.
  12. Thanks Andrew, only just found your kind comments, pleased you are happy with the new set up Cheers, Dave
  13. Hi Richard, Hopefully you got my payment through yesterday? Standard S3 please
  14. I used some plastic bent in the middle to around 90 degrees, this is then mounted to the underside of the nosecone with heavy duty velcro, meaning the number plate is much lower acting as a bit of a front splitter and is securely held. Only pic I have is this one from last month - http://www.racelife.co.uk/DSC_6452.jpg
  15. Yes, my thoughts exactly, I would like these to be a relatively affordable upgrade, but need to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing or else they will be no better than the wings available on ebay. All this is at an early stage but needed to check initial interest to see if it is viable for a plastics company to get interested (which they are). The race stays are these from Caterham - here My wish list for these wings are as follows - 1. Look good 2. Close fitting to the tyre which is going to rule out using 70 profile 3. Be affordable, in a black ABS which can be painted 4. Easy to attach without having to drill the wings or stays and ideally avoid having to use bigheads or sikaflex. 5. Possible to fit side repeaters if required (not by me) 6. Try to avoid the need for custom made stays, although it does seem impossible to maintain close fitting decent looking wings with the standard stays, hence buying the race stays as an experiment.
  16. Hello, A member in our area is looking to replace his front brake discs due to warping/vibration but I'm struggling to help him identify which discs he has. They appear to be a two piece bell and rotor, with the word JAPAN and some numbers cast into the bell/hub. Car is a 2003 S3 (230BHP) using the Caterham/AP 4 pot caliper, 13" wheels etc. A photo would help but I don't have one at this stage, hoping someone might know which discs fit aside from the standard ventilated Caterham units? Cheers, Dave
  17. Thanks both of you, I will be in touch, would be useful to have a few cars and minds together when talking this through with Steve. Happy to set your car up LesG, although it's a bit of a trek down to me in Bath!
  18. I'm just waiting on getting a free day off so I can get over to Wales and meet up with the plastics company. Both my front wings are in a bad way too, but it's going to take some time, sorry. The joys of working in the motor industry which gives me one day off every two weeks I have had some great help from Kevin Russell who has fitted CSR wings to his S3 using custom made wing stays. He has pointed out that the standard wing stays are just too high and far away from the tyre to get the aesthetics and aero right. I have bought a new set of race wing stays (delivered a few days ago) to give another alternative when measuring up at YC plastics. I will get in touch once I have more details.
  19. Hi Jon, I'll go for the fleece please if it a large. How much do you want for p and p? Have sent you a BM.
  20. Hi Ian, this thread that Oily posted in 10 years ago may help a little - Here
  21. Great stuff, enjoyed watching that, particularly the three laps in the second race
