Mine does exactly the same. I'm still unsure what if any thermostat mine has, being an ex racer? I control the fan manually from the dash switch, but noticed when in traffic at the weekend it would still reach 100 with the fan on, sometimes higher, until moving slowly when it drops to 80. It could be the system needs bleeding for air, I'm going to see if I can fit a slightly more powerful fan, whilst still using the existing relay and switch? New owner of BOSS

It's unlikely to be the cone filter IMO, many Coupes have these fitted now with no problems. Could be connected though - maybe the air flow meter was damaged when the cone filter was added? I'd still expect to see the injector light come on for these symptoms though. New owner of BOSS

Oh, and just to add, afaik the model your son has doesn't have a throttle cable, it is fly by wire. New owner of BOSS

It's only the later 20v models which have that (gained about 7 or 8 bhp over the earlier 20vs). Did you have chance to contact Powerfiat or take a look on the Coupe forum? New owner of BOSS

Post over on www.fccuk.org I'm a moderator over there. Just got to quickly say, these are brilliant cars for the money, I've owned two now, and would think nothing of owning another in the future. IMO for £3500 for a decent 20VT I can't think of anything that is as pretty, reliable (NOT built by Fiat), and with such a sweet sounding and powerful engine. Back to the problem, the late 20v had a VIS engine (variable valve), so maybe this is playing up, and causing it to not rev beyond 5k? Most problems on the Coupe usually trigger the injector light on the dash - is this on? I always used to take my Coupes over to Powerfiat http://www.powerfiat.co.uk/ , in Essex. A long drive for me from Somerset, but always worth it. Give Roger a call on his mobile 07946 66672 and tell him Fishy Dave put you in touch. I have the same symptoms, and also suspect the A frame bush. The car is very twitchy in a straight line, needing frequent correction, although I'm unsure if this is just a Caterham thing. Going to change the A bush anyway. :) New owner of BOSS

Hi, I've been noticing a few drops of oil around the rear end of the car. It's hard to see exactly where it's coming from, I'll jack the car up and have a better look tomorrow. Assuming the seals have gone, I'd like to be able to top the oil level up for the moment. So, which type of LSD is likely to be on my car? It's a '96 1400 SS, ex racer (BOSS old car). Which oil does it need in the diff? How do I fill it? I notice the boot floor is loose, so I can get access from above easy enough. Many thanks, Dave New owner of BOSS
