    IVA check list

in #10, ChrisC said It includes some tricks and tips on tyre pressures to assist with bias and new brakes. Presumably with correct tyre pressures, the brake bias is wrong... am always intrigued by folks who seem more interested in a "pass" (be it IVA or MoT) than confirmation that the car is safe to drive; and for the manufacturer themselves to be party to such things is astonishing.
  2. Also, based on experience, take a very long route to the test to get the brakes fully bedded-in en route. There are several schools of thought as to the best way to do this. You want the front brakes to lock-up ahead of the rears (otherwise, ask me how I know , it'll be a fail)
  3. re #2 above... Steve Wilkins' comments reflect my experience of Yeading in 2013! My tester in turn was being tested so was a bit too diligent and failed me on something he'd misinterpreted but was OK with me corresponding and accepted my opinion (the IVA manual being online was VERY useful!). The other failure items were fair enough (though should've been picked up by Caterham in the PBC ) The testers more often than not are inspecting trucks so when one of us rocks up with our silly little car, they see it as a result to relieve the usual monotony.
  4. As above; if so, what advice would you give? As I have a bespoke screen, a standard SBF7's wouldn't be appropriate, and (famous last words!) how hard could it be to make? This material (first black/silver colour option) looks be the stuff to use.
  5. There's a chap on the STRICTLY KITCAR faceache group who is after some harnesses...
  6. I might have a spare expansion tank/cap if you want them/it...
  7. long time listener, first time caller on this thread - am in absolute admiration of not only the solution for a problem most of us have but also the attention to detail Chapeau Sir! (and that was my opinion before reading the VVC thread! Awesome work!) re #53... revilla said it's critical to strip exactly 1.5mm of insulation - any less and the crimp doesn't hold, any more and he terminals won't lock into the housings. Very fiddly! I have been contemplating buying the DIY version (as am confident with a soldering iron!) Would the very fiddly bit mentioned be relevant? If so, I'll spank a few more quid on the pre-assembled version!
  8. I needed one a year or so ago and Ian Payne at PT Sports was able to help...
  9. I have these on my car...
  10. My 2013 car has both third brake light and permanently-live cabling in/around the boot as part of the standard loom.

    Cover

In #2, 7 wonders of the world said what it fits, Caterham or Patio table..... Interestingly I have a green patio table cover (my 7 cover us black!)
  12. In #7, Peter G said I think I may have to go that way but there's always the risk of leaving the lights on and if overnight then a flatish battery. I drive this way and have also fitted a warning buzzer that sounds if the lights are on and ignition off (and over-ride switch in case I need to park up with sidelights on)
  13. Dan R said or to put it another way, what would make that viable? indeed, that's the appropriate question, how many pre-orders (and expectation of future business) would justify the time/effort of developing the moulds.
  14. Someone with admin privileges should be able remove the duplicates for you. Meanwhile, worth editing the spurious ones to say "duplicate" or to have no text to focus answers in one place.
  15. Possibly... will have a look tomorrow and let you know.
  16. Highly recommend one of these, extra long switches - can flick the indicators in/off without moving your hand from the steering wheel...
  17. re #21... as above in #18, I'd be interested... fingers crossed Dan R!
  18. in #10, madmaninshed said but I'd rather ask and learn. The only silly questions are the ones you don't ask!
  19. re #2 As you know, the nice Mr Cresswell's work is superb and not a good way of saving money, I investigated the costs of swapping from my (fixed cam) Sigma to a Duratec and it was a similar cost and a considerably greater ballache - so Premier Power ended up getting some business!
  20. As Peter said, thanks for taking one for the team and pushing Caterham regarding this Geoff. The fact you had this conversation at all and that it seems to have been open and conciliatory is very positive. However we are the ones wearing the time, effort and cost as a result of a component they supplied that was not fit for purpose. Saying that they lack a solution and are continuing to develop one after so long whilst saying it's a pity we sought solutions outside Caterham's products is totally contradictory and taking the . As you said Geoff, I believe that CC are working on it for the benefit of themselves, new owners & future customers. I agree - we're not the people they care about; they've got our money - it's that of others they want. Though I continue to be thoroughly grumpy over this, I believe thanks to your efforts, we're in a better place.
  21. Good luck Geoff - let us know as much as you're allowed to of the conversation (maybe record/transcribe it ) As mentioned in #628, my chocolate LSD effectively cost me more per mile than fuel and tyres - and judging by StevehS3's comment in #632, that was a comparative result!
