  1. Nearish to Epsom, is Jim Whiting's tame place who have done all my MoT tests, very <ahem > tolerant on the emissions front: Mullan's Speed Shop Snakey Lane Hanworth Feltham TW13 7ND 020 8890 3963
  2. re #10 (and #11?). Any chance of a photo please? I think this location would be preferable than the bottom of the 'box as per the usa7s.net thread mentioned in #6 above and presume it'd be easier to drill/tap aluminium!
  3. I tried to find that thread too! Dontcha love BlatChat's search facilities? (not that Google or DuckDuckGo were much better!)
  4. The addition of a drain plug sounds a good idea and straight(-ish) forward and after all, what's the worst that could happen?
  5. bttt... bexxxhill, are you interested?
  6. Have a look here...
  7. TANGO9, yes - plastic. Robust and suitable for mounting under the bonnet, so heat-tolerant.

    Battery Tray

Sounds like your car is similar to my 2013 model. The battery tray is held in place by four (M6?) caphead screws that go into rivnuts. They can be removed from above easily. If you need a replacement tray, let me know. I have removed mine.
  9. good point... though suspect it's a fine line between warm but not hot and definitely hot...!
  10. Having spent two of the unhappiest hours of my life filling my SV's Type 9 gearbox with oil (well, much was spent trying to refit the fill plug - there's a cross member which makes getting the plug back in all but impossible unless your fingers are the thickness of a lolly stick - but judicious use of a cable tie eventually worked!), ten years ago when I built my 7, I reckon I ought to replace/refresh it. I will remove the plug and pump the old oil out. As I doubt I'd be able to get it all out, there is the potential of some contamination with the new oil. Is it then worth running briefly with some cheap oil by way of a flush before replacing that too or would it OK to go straight to the good stuff? Also, any tips to make the whole (potentially repeated) process less of a 'mare?
  11. Having rearranged my engine bay (who'd've thought that was an option?), I have two spare storage tubes from an ancient Bulk Buy arranged by Dr Kay. As per the second photo, please note that whilst the rear mounts have been trimmed, there's still enough to secure them. Front mounts are unaltered. £20 the pair, inc the "inner". Collection from London W4 or £5 P&P.
  12. For wiring diagrams, see final pages of this.
  13. what might it mean...? edited to add "partially educated?"
  14. BRG, yellow nose, windbreak and hood heading South on A1(M) near the Welwyn turn around 3:30pm (?) today... I was in the 911 heading in the opposite direction so couldn't acknowledge you.
  15. Deal agreed with Bert320, so pending funds, it's sold. Eduted to add... funds received!
  16. I shouldn't've... but I have calculated that as a "consumable", the cost of my differential was more per mile than petrol or tyres...
  17. Back to the top... With minor adaptation, it could make a party-sized hip flask...
  18. I am confident CC themselves were unaware of the service requirements... and applied them retrospectively once the failures started.
  19. I was looking for a black SV frame last week and Ian Payne at PT Sports could only offer me S3 ones - ie what you sound to be after! He's in Maidenhead I believe.

Worth dropping the ever-helpful Darren Phillips a note to ask, Graeme?
  21. Good luck with your communication, Geoff. What is your objective in doing so?

    Tyres

In #1, tezkav said From what I have read Toyo R888r are great in the dry but terrible in the wet. Not what I heard... see here...
  23. As above, was after an SV Winbreak frame. Ideally in black. Could take with a broken screen and/or stanchions too. Thanks to Tom_Arundel
