  1. Luckily, I only need to replace the rears but still £250 ++ for a pair is Thanks for the tips, I'll make some calls this week. Neil, if I'm heading your way I'll pm you. Cheers, Clive
  2. I need new tyres for the R1 Caterham, and want to use the Toyo's again. Anyone bought any recently at a good price? Demon Tweeks have them in stock but their prices are high. TIA Clive.
  3. Before replacing, I rub candle wax into the bushes. Lubricates them to go back in and may give some protection from oil. Bushes seem to last longer.
  4. I use a domestic pressure washer on mine about once a month. The car has no carpets and tillet seats, so I've drilled holes in the floor to let the water out. I get all around, under, and in the car inc the cockpit, just avoid the electrics under the scuttle. Pressure wash under / behind the seats, all the grot traps, inc behind the fuel tank ( I take out the boot floor), get into the tunnel from both ends. After letting it drain, and drying off the bulk with a chamois leather, the car then goes into the garage with a dehumidifier for 24 - 48 hrs. When it fully dries out, I'll spray WD40 in all the grot traps, and along the bottom rails in the engine bay. Then wipe over all the powder coated suspension, roll over bar etc with a rag coated in WD40. I polish it maybe twice a year. Car effectively is 8 years old, no corrosion, and all powder coating is excellent. It's used all year round, apart from this year, but I do try to avoid going out when there's salt on the roads. The only problem is with the excessive stone chipping from too much use, high mileage, but that's "patina" and adds character.
  5. Hi Paul, try Dave Willett Motorsport you'll find him on Google. He builds engines for rally cars and regularly out performs the big names.
  6. Good luck Paul. If people knew how good these BECs are.....
  7. Could you get insurance? A step / risk to far for me.

  9. Don't leave the hand brake on. Use chocks instead.
  10. Club trackday rules don't allow slicks unless you have a full cage.
  11. Anyone want it before it goes to the scrappy?

    Blue. R1 WOW

That reg should be on my car!
  15. I'll add the B4391, from off of the A4212 above Afon Tryweryn, nr Bala, North Wales, towards Ffestiniog. Just watch out for the sheep ! The cottage on the LHS at 5:00 mins ( at the junction ) is actually a great little cafe. Well worth a stop though it doesn't look like much. Owner makes everything fresh, even baking her own bread. Clive
  16. Well done Martyn. I'll be there. Ready to stretch the legs on the 620? I may bail out in Bala and head to the B4391, and then go see Peter.
  17. I see your's is VVC. I know nothing about these, but could it be a fault in the mechanism of how it's been set up since the HG replacement?
  18. I would also check the cam timing. Do you have verniers? If you have SS cams and the timing is off a fraction, you will have overlap between the inlet valve opening and the exhaust valve closing. Then you'll get some fuel going direct into the exhaust. I used to adjust on the verniers whilst being tested during the MOT.
  19. Self tapping screw in the hole in the middle a few turns. Grab hold with a pair of pliers and pull straight out.
  20. Light blue, black stripes R310?. Drove past me whilst out for a walk.
  21. My old K series car had an extra black aluminum channel on the front of the boot edge, with cut outs for the belts. The boot cover was then fixed to the top of the channel. I'll see if I can find any photos. Clive
  22. I set mine up using my total station theodolite. No bits of string required, just a £6,000 instrument.
  23. Great idea. I've been looking for ways to spruce up my Millwood rear wing protectors. They're pretty battered, to the extent that in areas, the surface has gone and the weave is exposed. Will the ABS stretch around compound curves? Garybee - which supplier have you used? Cheers, Clive.
