  1. Do you want a covered or open trailer?
  2. No problems Steve, it's a purpose made gas heater specifically designed for use in motorhomes, vans, etc and has a sealed flue and exhaust, so it can be safely run in confined spaces. ...just to be double safe, i also have a carbon monoxide alarm.
  3. After last year's chilly start to the season, over the winter I'd installed a Gas heater in my trailer and also invested in a new sleeping bag with a -1degC comfort rating. Over the last week with the UK enjoying hot sunny weather, I'd begun to think I'd wasted my time and money. However checking the weather forecast, it appears as though the Welsh weather Gods have come to my rescue and they will ensure it's pi$$ing it down and freezing cold for the weekend's events. Thank you, my trust in Welsh weather is restored *thumbup* 😬 😬
  4. Behind the passenger seat, taped to the rear bulkhead is a good place
  5. Has anybody figured out what size competition numbers will fit three accross on a normal 12"-wide white background? The std MSA 9" numbers obviously won't... Edited to add - I guess 6" high race bike numbers will 'just' fit....oh roll on scrutineering Edited by - skydragon on 24 Apr 2013 19:36:43
  6. I hope you took into consideration Dai's secret 'variable camber' system on the nearside front wheel when setting things up i believe the system is 2.2 degs with wheel nuts at normal torques and somwhere around 45 degs with them fully loosened off 😬 😬
  7. I still had my running in oil for the RR session. Makes no odds. Bear in mind that most race engines are built and then run in on the dyno, using running in oil. (ie, they are run in at high rpm and high loads, after some initial tests)
  8. Everyone will have a different opinion on this one I've used Millers running in oil....good stuff! Seems to be widely used in motorsport. Around 500 miles minimum seems to be the general concensus. Make sure you don't let the engine run at tick over, or stand idling, or you risk glazed bores.(I'm presuming it's a new engine or and old engine with new rings/bores?) Best bet is, start her up and imediately start driving. Take it easy until water and oil temperatures are hot and then give it some beans. You want to be on and off the power frequently, not staying at a constant rpm. I took mine onto the motorway and put foot to floor until around 6000rpm then off power completely letting the revs decrease to around 3000rpm, then repeat and repeat. Again, when you stop, don't let the car stand idling. What you don't want to do is drive it gently (but don't thrash when cold). It's the opposite of what most people think when 'running in'
  9. Mines always developed a thin layer of sludge/gunk on the upper half of the expansion tank and I've had the engine/head rebuilt several times and it's always been like that, so don't think it's a sign of HGF.... I use brake cleaner to clean. Pour some in (having taken expansion bottle off car!) and swill round vigorously. Repeat to clean.
  10. *thumbup* *thumbup* Thanks to all involved
  11. So the question is...is Mark D's entry 'morally bankrupt' or not ??!!?? 😬 😬 😬
  12. If you want to race, you'll find that getting a taller cage is a legal minefield Can you explain more Jez? (I went down the path of getting a taller cage made by Caged for the very reasons Andy is asking) Thanks
  13. I normally put a couple of pieces of tape diagonally accross the numbers
  14. hi JV it started off life as a 2001 superlight , and now is one of those annoying bike powered vehicles 😬 Live from Moscow...I've consulted the K-series wiring diagram....I presume that's where your poor car enjoyed a healthier life... and I'd suggest. a) Remove and reseat the flasher relay and also the hazards relay b) Confirm fuse 12 hasn't blown (although I think this would also stop the hazards working? ) Edited to add - I think actually Roger may be right. I had to replace my Hazard switch at one point as it was so flaky. Edited by - skydragon on 10 Apr 2013 14:27:11
  15. raised a question about the fitting that I hadn't considered which was....?
  16. *thumbup* *thumbup* *thumbup* *thumbup* *thumbup* *smile* *smile* *smile* *smile*
  17. I'll be there in the afternoon session (only for fun in the afternoon, as I'm not really that bothered if I beat Jeremy on Saturday, not bothered at all, honestly )
  18. themed on the delights of west Wales? Shaved sheep dancing round a fence post 😬 😬 😬
  19. I can't make it. My brother in Law is doing the deed on that day sounds like a long chat about commitment and priorities will sort this out, I mean how can he plan to have his wedding day on an event date? 😔 I'd back it up with an overlying theme of 'starting as he means to go on' and your expectations as bro' in law etc 😬 😬 perhaps some quiet reflection will enable him to consider others and not be selfish, etc 😬 😬
  20. I don't think most of the normal trailer security measures will deter your local 'metal-collectors'. Not much will stand up to a a 5 tonne hydraulic jack with some solid metal bar welded on (the favourite tool of choice 😬 ) fwiw i use a locking trailer hitch, a wheel clamp and a wire hawser round the A-frame and then round a steel RSJ. All this will do however is slow a pro-thief down. The key reason for using them is to stop an opportunist thief and (most importantly) keep my insurance company happy, so there are no arguments if/when... It's worth spot welding the hitch bolts to the A-Frame as this stops (slows down) the practice of unbolting the hitch and towing away just using a chain to drag the trailer.
  21. Fitting a PRRT is a good idea, but you need the grey 82Deg C version with the weaker spring, not the cream or black coloured one. They aren't suitable. It's part No PEL500110 you will also need to remove the old thermostat and fit the flow-restricting disk plus necessary piping/T-piece. photo of my install here Do a search on BC for 'PRRT' - there are plenty of threads on how to fit. edited to add - I wouldn't buy a OEM version of PRRT as it will be difficult to know exactly what you have got. Hence LR reference Edited by - skydragon on 15 Mar 2013 17:15:39
