    class 4

    I'm at Loton Park both days and also at Harewood both days. I don't know whether I'll be able to commit to doing Anglesey just yet. Can't do Curbs 2 due to family hols and can't do Blyton due to work commitments....
  2. Dependent on work commitments, I'll be there, thanks.
  3. But it started with the old starter when you connected the solenoid input directly to the battery but not otherwise yes, but i think the faulty starter motor is drawing too much current when activated (more than normal). Which is causing a bigger than normal voltage drop, which is what is causing the problem (I think). MRFU made no difference it starts instantly now.
  4. Update; I found out that if I took a wire straight from the battery positive, to the starter motor solenoid input, the car would start ok. Convinced myself it was the battery....even though I couldn't jump start the car with leads from another car battery (I didn't think the leads were making enough contact so discounted that)...bought a new Powervamp battery - wasn't the cure. Now have a spare battery Then went back to MFRU...bought a new MFRU - wasn't the cure. The car now has a new MRFU on it and I have a spare Bypassed the FIA cut-off switch - wasn't the cure. I happened to have a used magnetron starter motor in the garage (from previous owner). So I fitted that (not an easy job) and hey presto, the car turns over far faster than it ever has done before with the existing (Bosch?) starter motor and starts really easily. Problem solved. I think that waiting on the pre-grid at Saint Goueno Hillclimb has fried the old starter motor. Opening it up, the solenoid contacts appear very pitted. I'll take it to an autoelectricians and get it refurbished. In saying that it has never turned the car over as well as the magnetron unit now is. Thanks for help/advise.
  5. Here's a quick cut of one of my runs I'll put up temporarily. I've got some better footage as well as some external video and other camera angles I'll use and post in time. Compared to the 'proper' cars/drivers it's pedestrian, but was great fun. video here
  6. Bonjour.... 😬 Appologies (?) for the silence, but work and travel has been getting in the way of play. As Michael says, I'm going to do a write up with some piccies for LF. I've also got some video which I'll post a link to when finished. Saint Goueno...wow. The single stat that summed it all up for me was there were 33 marshalls posts along the course, which gives some indication of how many blind bends and curves there were. The course was very complex and fast. Think of 'Hollow' at Gurston, but with no run off whatsoever, steep banking and trees on one side, armco and trees on the other, repeated over and over for over 2 miles and you get the basic idea. The challenge was learning the course and having the gonads to drive it fast. Even on my last run, it was frustrating to be at an apex and realise you could go a lot faster. The organisation was amazing, with the event attracting thousands of spectators. Each evening there was a fete/meal with live bands playing. Great group of competitors. very friendly. The selection of cars taking part was jaw-dropping. With everything from prototypes , though single seaters, to DTM-style BMW saloons Gotta do some work now, but will post some more info shortly.
  7. You might be right ref the battery. At rest, with ignition on I'm getting around 12.6v-12.7v Cranking however, it drops down to around 8v-9v (hard to measure as voltage is rapidly fluctuating). Perhaps time to replace the battery (Powervamp 25) I'll find a set of jump leads and try boosting off another car to double check
  8. My K-series powered car won't start. Symptoms are that the starter motor will only barely turn the engine over once. Nothing wrong with battery or charging. If I put my ear to the MRFU whilst pressing the starter button I can hear a relay chattering on/off even though I'm holding the starter button firmly on, which I'm guessing means the starter relay in the MRFU is knackered, probably with burnt contacts. Opening the MRFU the relays are labelled G8PE-1C4 and made by Omron. A quick google check reveals they are obsolete and I can't find one for sale. CC seem to be out of stock on MRFU. I note rimmer bros sell this unit here which I guess is the right one ?? Cheers Chris. Edited by - Skydragon on 9 Jun 2013 12:36:00 Edited by - Skydragon on 18 Jun 2013 17:09:48
  9. Last year i went to a really good Indian Retuarant which was approx 15 mins drive from Curbs (not in Lichfield) Does anyone know the Indian I'm refering to and where it is located exactly?? Thanks
  10. 😬 😬 Good job i hadn't tiewrapped the trowel to my rollcage yet....i shall bring it to curbs for Mr Rogers to re-present
  11. Good segment with a quick mention of our own 'Simon Rogers' ! Interesting to see a lime green seven going off after bridge....the same as me! Question now is, am I really the valid yellow trowel holder...or was the green 7's little incident before my 'off' in T1 ??

  13. For those who attended Llys Y Fran last weekend. You may have wondered who the guys/gals were at llys Y Fran wandering around with the video cameras... well they were from S4C and were shooting some footage to be included in a S4C TV program called 'Ralio' which will be aired on this Thursday night at 21.30. If you are lucky enough to live in wales (I can almost say that without breaking down in laughter/tears, whilst reaching for the nearest waterproof jacket 😬 ) you can watch it live on TV by tuning into S4C this Thursday night at 21.30. For the rest of us, you can watch it live on S4C via Sky Tv or Freesat/Freeview etc...or you can view it for the next 30 days via S4C's catch up service. which can be visited via the Ralio website I have no idea if much/any of the Caterham entries were filmed, but it would be great if one of our welsh members could record the program onto DVD... just in case there is some ?? 17. I'm still washing...everything (car, clothes, trailer, gear) is wet, muddy and covered in grass. After that, I'm off to Mr Tyrefitters to fit some new ZZR's Forecast (albeit long range) for next weekend is looking wet still, at least it hasn't been raining almost continuously at Curborough since 1974.... 😔 😬
  18. Good video I tried the exact same powerslide coming out of bridge too...not the same result though 😬
  19. *thumbup* *thumbup* Class 4 (or the championship) won't be the same without you. I'll really miss your banter in the paddock and your competitive driving. Hope to see you in the not too distant future.
